New this Week:April 1st 2015

It’s Tuesday, and you know what that means: comics come out tomorrow! Join the Comic Impact staff as they share what they’re excited to read for the week of April 1st 2015 on New This Week.

Sheldon tells us about Kanan: The Last Padawan #1 by Greg Weisman and Pepe Larraz. Sebastian explains why he can’t wait for Rick and Morty #1 by Zac Gorman, CJ Cannon, and Ryan Hill. Travers is loving Hellboy and the BPRD by Mike Mignola, John Arcudi, and Alex Maleev; and Simon talks about Space Riders #1 by Fabian Rangel Jr. and Alexis Ziritt.

Arc Reaction: Gotham Academy #1-6

This week in Arc Reaction we’re discussing the first story arc of Gotham Academy by Brenden Fletcher, Becky Cloonan, and Karl Kerschl. The new girl at school might come from a rocky upbringing, but now she’s at the prestigious Gotham Academy thanks to a scholarship from Bruce Wayne.

Impactful Origins: Super Sentai

40 years ago Himitsu Sentai Goranger hit the Japanese airwaves.  A new paradigm within the Tokusatsu genre was born. A new breed of super hero defending the earth from threats terrestrial and extra deminsional. 39 teams of heroes spanning 40 years linked together in a shared universe of stories translated into dozens of languages and adapted most famously into Mighty Morphin Power Rangers here in the states.

All I have to say to that is Happy birthday Super Sentai.

 The Impact: March 15th 2015

This week on The Impact: Jesse Eisenberg gets a haircut, the X-Men have a Jubilee, I Kill Giants tackles the silver screen, and Convergence will change everything ever. Brace for Impact!

Throwback Thursday: Rick Veitch’s The Maximortal

This week on Throwback Thursday, we’re talking about The Maximortal by Rick Veitch. Maximortal is the ultimate Superman apocrypha. It’s a book that deals with fiction as reality. It covers the Cold War, the dropping of the atomic bomb, and even tells the story of Siegel and Shuster. If you like weird takes on the Man of Steel, this is worth a look.
