Published on October 20th, 2012

Hey guys. How are we all doing this weekend? I am still recovering from all the announcements and news made last week at New York Comic Con. I hope you all dug the extra large Impact last week.

Warner Bros. Retain 50% of Superman in Latest Court Ruling.

Courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter. On Wednesday a California court granted Warner Bros’ request for a summary judgement in the legal dispute over the ownership and control of Superman between the studios and the heirs of Joe Shuster.

The judge ruled “that the 1992 Agreement, which represented the Shuster heirs’ opportunity to renegotiate the prior grants of Joe Shuster’s copyrights, superseded and replaced all prior grants of the Superman copyrights. The 1992 Agreement thus represents the parties’ operative agreement and, as a post-1978 grant, it is not subject to termination.”

This means that potentially, Warner’s has been granted permanent ownership of Shuster’s share of the copyright. Siegel’s rights will be reverting to his heirs sometime next year. You can read the entire ruling HERE.  Not coincidentally enough on Thursday the Los Angeles Times  revealed that Warners is aiming to release their Justice League movie the summer of 2015 just in time for Avengers 2.

Hollywood Reporter Reveals Potential Amazing Spider-Man 2 Spoiler.

Last week we learned that Descendents actress  Shailene Woodley will be playing Mary Jane Watson in the Amazing Spider-Man 2. This week we learned that Woodley would also be attached to the adaptation of the novel Divergent which shoots at the same time. The Hollywood Reporter explained and in the explanation we learned some potentially BIG spoilers for the next two films. Consider yourself warned.

Woodley initially had scheduling issues as an obstacle to the dealmaking, having had offers to play both Mary Jane and the Divergent lead. But the Mary Jane role is proving to be only a very small part in Amazing Spider-Man 2 but blossoms into an integral lead for the planned third movie as the studio seeks to build to the classic “Death of Gwen Stacy” story.

There you have it. I wonder if we will finally see the alluded to but never seen Norman Osborn in the sequel. Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014

Mark Millar Talks X-Men Days of Future Past.

Courtesy of Comingsoon.net. This week comic writer and 20th Century Fox Marvel Film consultant Mark Millar talked about the sequel to X-Men: First Class. The sequel, will be based on the popular “Days of Future Past” storyline.

“Vaughn is going for a big sci-fi style thing with X-Men: Days of Future Past,” Millar said. ”It’s X-Men meets The Terminator, You’ve got robots, you’ve got time travel, you’ve got superheroes – it’s got everything in one film.”

Well if that doesn’t get you excited I don’t know what will. The film is scheduled to start shooting this January and hit theaters July 18, 2014.
