The Impact: March 24th – 30th 2012

Published on March 30th, 2012

Hey Guys. I hope everyone is having a great week reading all the great books that have come out this week since we need ways to pass the time as we await the return of Game of Thrones this weekend. Not going to sugarcoat it kids this was a very quiet week in the comic book world. There have been no major announcements just teasers for big announcements. Seriously I was shocked with how little news broke this week. Everyone was probably getting ready for Emerald City Comic Con.

Marvel Continues to Tease Spider-Men to The Point of Ridiculousness.

Marvel is sloooooowly revealing more about Spider-Men. We know one of the Spider-Men will be wearing  Peter Parker’s traditional Spider-Man costume. Most speculate that the second yet to be revealed figure is in fact the current Ultimate Spider-Man, Miles Morales. The creative team is the same as Ultimate Comics Spider-Man and Bendis has planted the seeds having Miles say numerous times he wishes he could talk to Peter Parker. This is also the perfect time for Miles to learn how to make web shooters. If this is in fact the 616 Peter Parker, it would mark the first time the Ultimate Universe has crossed over with the regular 616 Universe.  It’s odd they have not revealed more about this project considering that the June Previews is already out. Stay tuned I will be sure to keep you up to date as more information is revealed.

Warners Reveals Man of Steel Banner.

Courtesy of their Official Facebook page Warner Bros. released the official banner for Man Of Steel. I actually kinda dig there version of the S sheild, it’s familiar yet with hints of being somewhat otherworldly. Man of Steel hits theaters June 14th, 2013.

Cartoon Network Officially Announces Beware the Batman.

beware-the-batmanThis week at their up fronts Cartoon Network officially announced the newest Batman animated series Beware The Batman. Featuring the talents of Sam Register and Glenn Murakami Cartoone Network described the series,

Beware the Batman: A cool, new take on the classic Dark Knight franchise, Beware the Batman incorporates Batman’s core characters with a rogues gallery of new villains not previously seen in animated form. Along with backup from ex-secret agent Alfred and lethal swordstress Katana, the Dark Knight faces the twisted machinations of Gotham City’s criminal underworld led by the likes of Anarky, Professor Pyg, Mister Toad and Magpie. Produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this action-packed detective thriller deftly redefines what we have come to know as a “Batman show.” Featuring cutting-edge CGI visuals to match the intricate twists and turns of the narrative, Batman steps out of the shadows and into the spotlight for an entirely new generation of fans. With WBA’s Sam Register executive producing, and Batman Beyond’s Glen Murakami and Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated’s Mitch Watson producing, Beware the Batman, based on characters from DC Comics, is coming soon to Cartoon Network!

While this does not sound like the traditional Batman Animated Series, I for one am cautiously optimistic. Green Lantern: The Animated Series CG animation looks much better than I thought it would and their animation department continues to be some of DC’s strongest storytellers.

DC Announces DC/Judge Dredd Collection

This December DC and 2000 AD will publish the Batman/Judge Dredd Collection. Featuring the talent of Alan Grant and John Wagner and Simon Bisley, Cam Kennedy, Carl Critchlow, Dermott Power, Glenn Fabry, Jim Murray and Val Semekis the collection will reprint Judgement on Gotham #1, Vendetta in Gotham #1, The Ultimate Riddle #1, Die Laughing #1 and 2 and Lobo/Judge Dredd #1. Between this and IDW announcing its printing of new and old Judge Dredd material it is a very good time to be a fan of Dredd.

Well there you have it guys… I told you it was a light week, hopefully some exciting news will break this weekend at Emerald City Comic Con. If you are at Emerald City I hope you have a great time. I would love to be up there with everyone. Have a good one. Take care.
