Sneak Peek: Taskmaster Mini-Series

Published on July 6th, 2010

Fans of the character Taskmaster will be pleased to hear that later on in September this year, he will be getting his own mini-series. Big time Marvel writer; Fred Van Lente (‘Marvel Zombies 3/4/5′ and ‘Incredible Herucles’, to name but two of the hundreds of comics he’s written) is the man on the task of writing this mini series.Taskmaster is a character whose history go from seeing him frequently bump into long time pal; Deadpool, to most recently being seen over at The Initiative base whilst Norman Osborn was in charge of everything during Dark Reign. But what will this story bring?

After Siege, Taskmaster escaped Osborn’s iron grasp, but with a billion dollar bounty on his head. So Taskmaster is in a bit of a sticky situation right now, and everyone is after him. It is also said that Steve Rogers has something to do with this as well. Fred Van Lente says that this solo series, will be telling the ‘secret origin’ of the character, but with a twist. The twist is that Taskmaster himself will be joining us readers in the experience as well. It sounds like a cool idea, and Taskmaster is a very cool character to look at, and it seems like the prime opportunity to get to know him better!

‘Taskmaster has trained hench-thugs for every terrorist organization and criminal cartel in the Marvel Universe. So when the rumor starts that he’s turned traitor and now works for Steve Rogers, a billion-dollar bounty is put on his head, and every cadre of costumed fanatics – A.I.M., Hydra, Ultimatum, the Sons of the Serpent, everyone — looks to collect. Now Taskmaster has to fight hordes upon hordes of his psychopathic students while at the same time figuring out who framed him – which requires him figuring out who he really is! That’s right, the man with the photographic reflexes has no memory of his true identity — and you’ll learn the unexpected truth along with him!’

Along with artist Jefte Paolo, this should be a series to look forward to. Taskmaster #1 will hit stores sometime in September 2010.
