S.W.O.R.D and Doctor Voodoo to end at 5th issue.

marvel_s_w_o_r_dYou know what’s worse than getting kicked in the nuts? Seeing a series you really like getting the hack! Yes, I am reporting the unfortunate news that Kieron Gillen’s new series at Marvel Comics; S.W.O.R.D, is set to end at its 5th issue. Just as the covers were getting more awesome as well, typical!

With the release of #3 of S.W.O.R.D a week or so back, we’ve only got 2 more months before fellow fans of the series, including myself have to says our farewells to what was a good series (I thought). Gillen said in his blog, that it is hard to start a new series in a time of when the market is not forgiving on new series that need to get off the ground. He also stated that despite the news, he is happy to see that what he had done with S.W.O.R.D had pleased fans, and had gotten good reviews.

We can expect to see the 5 issues of S.W.O.R.D collected in a small, neat little trade paper back sometime in the near future. I am definatly going to be picking that up.

SW.O.R.D isn’t the only series to be getting the hack either. Doctor Voodoo: Avenger of the Supernatural is also have it’s plug pulled at only #5.

All in all, this past weekend has been one of bad news, and sad cuts over at Marvel.
