Collecting: DC Direct Animated Maquettes

Published on September 5th, 2009

It’s been a long time coming, and might I say it’s still as sweet as ever. Coming at you again with another DC Direct release, DC has returned to animated maquettes since is series done for Brice Timm’s Justice League.

Beginning with the release of Wonder Woman from her animated feature, followed up by Hal Jordan from his appearance in First Flight. As usual these maquettes capture there animated likenesses with very simple sculpts and straight forward poses. Hal’s stance is that of a man without fear, sadly the one thing missing that would have completed this piece is his power battery. While Diana’s expression is a deep stare and a smirk that says all it needs to.

Being maquettes they are a bit small in stature about 10in tall, what they lack in size they make up for in quality. The paint applications on these were lovely with deep vibrant colors from the red on Wonder Woman’s armor to the interesting choice of metallic green on Hal Jordan’s uniform.

The skin tones on the other hand came off a bit pale in certain lighting but it was hard to notice any harsh difference. These pieces are limited to 4000 each and will cost you $89.99.
