Dylan Dog is kind of like a cross between movie Constantine and Hellblazer Constantine, with a little bit of Marx Brothers thrown in to spice things up. It’s quirky, at times horrifying and the artwork will confuse and amaze you.
The Cover for Dylan Dog Case Files
The first thing that stood out to me about the book was the size of it. A mammoth 680 pages of comics! Mike Mignola’s cover art (and inserts!!!!) drew me in, and the quick witted dialogue sold me on the whole idea. To be honest, it didn’t hurt that...

Kicking Trade Tuesday back off (hopefully to a flying start) this week, I, Rob, aim to review the first trade paper back of a recently revived series from Marvel Comics, one which I feel would put an extra twenty years of life back into any octogenarian, by just reading it. Although not a proven belief, I still believe it would do just that, so back off, or at least back off so far that you walk yourself into your local comic store and pick yourself up a copy of Guardians Of The Galaxy: Legacy.
Legacy is the first trade paper...

Occasionally when you focus a camera you noticed things that are the same but different, by that I mean that they are a bit blurry and not in focus to what will hopefully be a crisp, clear picture. Almost a doppelganger of what will be. The New Invaders written by Allan Jacobson with art by C.P. Smith and Jorge Lucas was that for me in a GREAT way.
The New Invaders Trade collects issues 1- 9 of the series and features Cap Johnny Walker, The Thin Man, Spit Fire, Namor, Joseph Chapman AKA Union Jack and The Blazing Skull. Just...

After wrapping up the conflict with the Governor and the abandoning of their safe spot, we were all asking the same question. What’s next? Walking Dead isn’t about in your face sadistic violence. It’s not over the top or realistic. It’s an exploration into human depravity, that which makes us tick at the basest levels. In a lot of ways, what’s implied behind the violence is worse than the violence itself.
How many times have you asked yourself what you would have done in that hopeless situation?...

Thanks for joining me here for my second Trade Tuesday, so this week I am going to be talking to you about one of my favorite TPB’s that came out not that long ago. It’s the first TPB of the latest Justice Society of America series, and I think you’ll understand why I think it’s so special when you hear me talk about it.
When it’s written by Geoff Johns and has artwork by Dale Eaglesham, you know your moneys been spent on something awesome and worthwhile, as these two creators are true professionals...

Stuff your pockets with dubloons and head with me out to The Red Seas. A swashbuckling Trade Tuesday take us a-pirating around the Spanish Main and into very dark waters indeed. Originally published in 2000AD The Red Seas is writer Ian Edginton and artist Steve Yeowell’s take on the fantasy pirate story.
The story follows former Royal Navy man Captain Jack Dancer and his crew of lovable reprobates as they plunder the seas off the New World. Of course things go awry as part of their most recent booty includes a page from...

In 1985 I was only seven years old. I was living in a small town called Cherbourg in France reading comics such as Asterix,TinTin.Lucky Luke and more Then one day I walked into the store that my mom and dad used to own and saw an Iron Man toy. I was in love with this toy and yet I had no idea who the character was. All I saw was that classic title “Secret Wars” on the toy and I fell in love with the Marvel Universe. Sure I went back and read Secret Wars a few years ago and it’s not that great looking back...

Well it’s Trade Tuesday and you know what that means- the cable bill is late! Well no, not really, but I am forced at gun point to talk about a trade I have recently read… and almost on cue here comes Simon with a gun. So on that note, it is time for me to start writing about it.
The trade I picked this week was Marvel Comics’ Daredevil: Lady Bullseye written by Ed Brubaker and drawn by Michael Lark, which collects issues 111 - 115 of Daredevil. This story has some back ground from the previous arcs by the same...

Another Tuesday and another Trade. We’re heading back 400 years and we’re bringing the Marvel Universe with us to ‘1602’, Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert’s alternative Marvel universe set in Elizabethan England.
I love a good alternative universe tale, stripping great characters back to their iconic essence and placing them in new surroundings which can either highlight or even destroy their known legacy. When done well these stories cement our love for the characters. When done badly… well…
Fortunately this tale is...

Hey Comic Impact readers! So this is it, my first ever Trade Tuesday, thus adding me to the line of writers here who participate in one of the sites most popular features! I’m really excited to get things under way and talk about the book I’ve chosen. So because this is my first ever Trade Tuesday, I wanted to throw in a review of my favourite collected comics ever- to really get things started off on a high note!
So I chose the Halo Graphic Novel, as published by Marvel Comics back in 2006. I love this book with...

Since the conception of “Trade Tuesday” I’ve known that I’d cover this very special series that is my all-time favorite. Here at Comic Impact, we’ve all read a LOT of comics, so when we say something is our favorite - you better damn well listen up. I’m going to be splitting this up into three parts. The entire series of Supreme Power spans 18 issues, not including the spin-offs, so next month will be issues 7-12 while this month is obviously 1-6.
For those unfamiliar with Supreme Power it’s...

I wanted to check out something a little more on the indie side, so I went with The Bomb published by Asylum Press. Originally released in August 2008, Steve Mannion is the writer and artist of the trade and holy shit does his talent shine!
The Bomb is a series of T & A black and white short stories of the superhero/horror genre that are crude, hilarious, and sexy all at the same time. It’s also jam packed with pin-ups, which is appropriate considering the trade’s main story line takes place in the late 1930’s/early...

David Lapham’s Young Liars vol. 1 entitled “Daydream Believer” from Vertigo was one of my favorite books of last year, and was also one of our first reviews here at Comic Impact . I still have yet to read volume 2 called “Maestro,” and I have never read Stray Bullets but I can recall some of Lapham’s work on Batman.
I had heard about Silverfish from DC’s Vertigo imprint, so I picked it up and decided to feature it in this week’s Trade Tuesday segment!
Now having read the book I can tell you that...

You don’t have to be a drunk irresponsible super hero who also happens to be a multi billionaire industrialist genius like Tony Stark to appreciate this book! It’s Tuesday and you know what that means….TRADE TUESDAY!!! The book I am reviewing this week is The Invincible Iron Man: The Five Nightmares. I should preface this with the fact that I have never been a big Iron Man fan. I know I know. You can thank Simon for that one. Well Simon and Matt Fraction… and Salvador Larroca.
I only preface with that...

What you gonna to do when they come for you? Ask Bad Boy because it’s Trade Tuesday and I’m bringing you a super creator team up! The comic legend Frank Miller teams up with Brit super artist Simon Bisley to bring what I’d like to say was a forgotten gem of story lost in the mists of time. I’d like to say that but I can’t, so I’ll give you Bad Boy, an interesting blip of story lost in the mists of time. Originally published as a serial in the British GQ magazine it must have seemed like a great idea at the time. Bring...

What if instead of landing in Smallville, Kansas, Krypton had exploded 12 hours later and Superman ended up in Russia? That is essentially the entire premise of Superman: Red Son. Yes, instead of the classic ‘S’ on his chest, we are treated to a Superman donning the very communist hammer and sickle instead. I think it looks much better, but I also say better dead than red, so what do I know? Instead of Martha and Jonathan Kent raising the man of steel with American virtues, Superman is brought up by the late, great...

In 1970 DC charged comic book writer Denny O’Neil with revamping the super hero, Green Lantern. In 2004 the DC top brass appointed the same task to comics scribe Geoff Johns. The order was easier said than done: make Green Lantern interesting again. Not only was Johns assigned the task of reviving the shattered Green Lantern Corps., but he also was told to (literally) breathe new life into the man who destroyed the Corps: Hal Jordan, the greatest of the Green Lanterns.
Enter Green Lantern: Rebirth.
Rebirth is a six issue story...

Are you someone who does not like flying? If so, you are just like the main character in this weeks Trade Tuesday feature, Air vol.1: Letters From Lost Countries by G. Willow Wilson, compliments of DC Comics’ literary imprint, Vertigo Comics!
Her name is Blythe and she hates flying. Did I tell you she is also a flight attendant for Clearfleet Airlines? Don’t go looking them up for cheap flights to Hawaii- they’re a fiction airline.
One day Blythe sees this guy who she thinks is a terrorist while working for...

Well everybody it is my turn again and this TRADE TUESDAY it looks like I am sticking with the whole Patriot theme I seem to be going with. So what is this trade Tues you may ask? Well go on ask. It is Captain America:Winter Soldier!!!
Captain America:Winter soldier is Written Amazingly by Ed Brubaker and Drawn Incredibly by Steve Epting.
This trade is a collected version of issues 1-6 in the latest run of Captain America.

I think I’m going to turn green I’ve written and talked about Planet/World War Hulk so damn much. I read every single tie-in associated with the World War Hulk series. Today’s Trade Tuesday I am going to talk about which ones were good that you should check out and now dwell on the bad ones like I did last time. Speaking of which, wow, I wrote a lot didn’t I
World War Hulk: X-Men
When Hulk was sent into outer space by the Illuminati, one of the members wasn’t present to make this decision. That member...

It’s Trade Tuesday and I’m stretching the rules. Why choose one trade when you can choose two? Especially when it’s Judge Dredd!
But seriously, why two? Well I’ll tell you why. These two titles cover the short first and second longer appearances of Dredd’s archenemy, Judge Death. Every hero needs an archenemy. Sure, there can be many enemies but all of them need a main bad guy. Batman has the Joker, Superman has Lex Luthor, Sherlock Holmes has Moriarty and Judge Dredd has Judge Death.
Dredd is the future walking...

While Frank Miller’s Dark Knight series has traditionally been given more credit for the revival of Batman. The Killing Joke stands apart as a classic tale of sanity, insanity and the fine line that divides the two.
When I was a kid there was a few pages that scared the shit out of me. Maybe I was to young to read it when it was first published by DC Comics in 1988. I was only 10 years old. Yet when I was reading this book at that time I knew that this was something special and shocking that I would never forget.
It is...

The story starts off with the new Union Jack (Joey Chapman) putting his butt on the line for England against a group of terrorist super villains. The line up of attacking C list villains are Machette, Batroc the Leaper, Jack O’Lantern...

Last time I did this segment, I wrote about the very amazing Planet Hulk. If you are reading this article and have not read Planet Hulk then I will warn you there are nasty, vicious, sexy spoilers laying ahead. But, you can just read my article on it and that will get you caught up.
World War Hulk takes place on Earth as Hulk has finally found his way back and is looking to seek revenge on the people that exiled him. WWH was one of Marvel’s big crossover events about a year and a half back, so there were many titles that...

Forget the movie, which with comic books is a pretty standard phrase, The League of Extraordinary Gentleman are back in their not quite third adventure. Black Dossier is more of a side project than a full adventure but if you’re a fan then it’s a damn fine read.
Set in world where all literary works are actual history the story begins in 1950’s Britain at the end of the post WWII Big Brother government, where two associates of the League steal the government’s Black Dossier; their sum knowledge of all incarnations...

One of the most grotesque, bewildering and mind-blowing trades I’ve read all year – Rick Veitch’s The Maximortal is truly an old-school TP worth picking up and/or dusting off to read again.
For those unfamiliar with Veitch and his style, be forewarned that it will take some getting used to if you’re usually found with bright and shiny, digitally-cleaned-up pages in your mitts. Created in 1992, Veitch’s artwork in Maximortal is classic comic book purist with not-so-standard arcs.
If you’re like me and enjoy mass...

Welcome to another edition of Trade Tuesday, where I post something I want to trade and then you and I barter. Ohhh! Only kidding! As introduced last week by our good friend Sheldon, Trade Tuesday explores a title we are currently reading be it a past, present, or future title (Secret Invasion 2: Kree is soooo awesome by the way).
So for my first go at this I’ve chosen Planet Hulk. To give you some background on Planet Hulk, it went down about 2 and a half years ago during Civil War. The Hulk was launched into a wormhole...
