The Casting Couch: Chew
Posted by Ian Candish, on January 28th, 2011
If you pay any attention to our humble little site, you know that most of us (except Sheldon) absolutely love Image Comics’ Chew.
Chew is written by John Layman with fantastic art by Rob Guillory. In Chew, because of a horrible bird flu pandemic, a prohibition is placed against all poultry products and the FDA has become the single strongest branch of the United States government, much like the CIA. Tony Chu is an FDA agent with a strange psychic ability (called cibopathic), he gets a psychic impression from everything...
The Casting Couch: Agents of Atlas
Posted by Ian Candish, on January 14th, 2011
Looking for a great comic book read that almost no one else picked up, leading to it’s ultimate demise? Well, one of the most underrated series’ to come out of Marvel Comics has to be Agents of Atlas.
Created by Jeff Parker, Agents of Atlas is really a unique, interesting idea. It takes a group of old Marvel (technically Atlas Comics…get it?) characters from the 1940’s and 50’s and creates a new history for them. Instead of being lone characters, Parker tells the story of how FBI agent Jimmy...
The Casting Couch: The Flash
Posted by Ian Candish, on January 7th, 2011
This summer is bringing us the feature Green Lantern movie. This is the first major DC Comics character other than Batman or Superman to get their own movie. DC is really trying to do what Marvel has done with their movie franchise’s, ultimately building up to a big Justice League movie like Marvel’s upcoming Avengers. So, hopefully a big screen adaptation of The Flash isn’t too far away.
The Flash is about forensic scientist Barry Allen who is struck by lightning and drenched in chemicals in the crime...
The Casting Couch: Superman
Posted by Ian Candish, on December 24th, 2010
Along with just about every other comic movie franchise imaginable, Superman is going to be returning to theaters in 2012. This is going to be a completely new direction for the Man Of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder.
Superman is a franchise that needs no introduction. He is the original superhero. Since 1938, every single costumed superhero that has come into being owes their existence to him. Many people consider the 1978 Superman: The Movie to be the single best comic book movie of all time.
For years though, we haven’t...
The Casting Couch: Ex Machina
Posted by Ian Candish, on December 17th, 2010
Hey, everyone! It’s our first ever “Comic Impact Casting Couch!” Here we’ll take a comic book property and cast it with the actors we feel would do the best job of bringing these characters to the screen. We’ll also give you a little insight into how we think this particular project should be carried out. This week we’re doing Brian K. Vaughn’s masterpiece, Ex Machina!
Ex Machina is about Mitchell Hundred, a civil engineer working in New York City in 1999. He’s called...
