Rob and I have loved this book for a while so I thought I would use our new Book of the Month feature to force Simon to read it too. Good news is that Simon loved the book, well what he understood of it, well even the parts that he didn’t understand.

After wrapping up the conflict with the Governor and the abandoning of their safe spot, we were all asking the same question. What’s next? Walking Dead isn’t about in your face sadistic violence. It’s not over the top or realistic. It’s an exploration into human depravity, that which makes us tick at the basest levels. This time around we are going to take a look at the Iron Man Inferno Armor from the people over at Hasbro.

In 1985 I was only seven years old. I was living in a small town called Cherbourg in France reading comics such as Asterix,TinTin.Lucky Luke and more Then one day I walked into the store that my mom and dad used to own and saw an Iron Man toy. I was in love with this toy and yet I had no idea who the character was. All I saw was that classic title “Secret Wars” on the toy and I fell in love with the Marvel Universe. Sure I went back and read Secret Wars a few years ago and it’s not that great looking back...

We’re back Comic Impact listeners with another POW (Pick of the Week) podcast as Andy, Sheldon, and Simon talk about the best (and worst) comics from the week of July 22! Sorry for the lateness of this one, but with Sheldon and Simon visiting San Diego last week for Comic Con, it had to push things back a bit in the POW department.
Anyway, Andy has the pick this week and he went with the incredibly gory and bad ass X-Force #17! The guys also discuss Invincible #64, GI Joe #7, Amazing Spider-Man #600, Captain Britain and...

Well it’s Trade Tuesday and you know what that means- the cable bill is late! Well no, not really, but I am forced at gun point to talk about a trade I have recently read… and almost on cue here comes Simon with a gun. So on that note, it is time for me to start writing about it.
The trade I picked this week was Marvel Comics’ Daredevil: Lady Bullseye written by Ed Brubaker and drawn by Michael Lark, which collects issues 111 - 115 of Daredevil. This story has some back ground from the previous arcs by the same...

Another Tuesday and another Trade. We’re heading back 400 years and we’re bringing the Marvel Universe with us to ‘1602’, Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert’s alternative Marvel universe set in Elizabethan England.
I love a good alternative universe tale, stripping great characters back to their iconic essence and placing them in new surroundings which can either highlight or even destroy their known legacy. When done well these stories cement our love for the characters. When done badly… well…
Fortunately this tale is...

Since the conception of “Trade Tuesday” I’ve known that I’d cover this very special series that is my all-time favorite. Here at Comic Impact, we’ve all read a LOT of comics, so when we say something is our favorite - you better damn well listen up. I’m going to be splitting this up into three parts. I wanted to check out something a little more on the indie side, so I went with The Bomb published by Asylum Press. Originally released in August 2008, Steve Mannion is the writer and artist of the trade and holy shit does his talent shine!
The Bomb is a series of T & A black and white short stories of the superhero/horror genre that are crude, hilarious, and sexy all at the same time. It’s also jam packed with pin-ups, which is appropriate considering the trade’s main story line takes place in the late 1930’s/early...

I still have yet to read volume 2 called “Maestro,” and I have never read Stray Bullets but I can recall some of Lapham’s work on Batman.

What if instead of landing in Smallville, Kansas, Krypton had exploded 12 hours later and Superman ended up in Russia? That is essentially the entire premise of Superman: Red Son. Yes, instead of the classic ‘S’ on his chest, we are treated to a Superman donning the very communist hammer and sickle instead. I think it looks much better, but I also say better dead than red, so what do I know? Instead of Martha and Jonathan Kent raising the man of steel with American virtues, Superman is brought up by the late, great...
