When it comes to Marvel Comics, I live and breathe for the cosmic comics they publish. The cosmic goodness is consistently outstanding and it’s all down to Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning who nail the science fiction genre in maintstream comic books like no other(s) around today.
Just as there are many other cosmic fans in the same boat as me, we were all quite astounded when Abnett & Lanning revealed at SDCC last week, that Rocket Raccoon and Groot will eventually be getting a 4 issue miniseries of their own. It’s...

The amazing writer Scott Snyder of the hit American Vampire got some very exciting news. He will be exclusive to DC now that he is taking over as writer on Detective Comics in November. This is a big jump for Snyder’s career. I know I am very excited to see what he brings to Batman. Snyder had this to say on the DCU blog, The Source,
“As for the series, I want to play things pretty close to the vest for now, but I can tell you that it’ll star Batman, and will focus heavily on his CSI work and hardcore mysteries...

From Franken-Castle to the X-Men, it seems as if Rick Remender can’t get enough Marvel goodness at the moment. He’s spreading his crazy ideas all over the board as usual this October, when his first issue writing a brand new X-Men title comes out.
‘Uncanny X-Force’ is the name of Remender’s new title. In the wake of Second Coming, the Uncanny X-Force are a secret black-ops team led by Wolverine, formed to take down a newly resurrected Apocalypse. It sounds like deadly Secret Avengers team. Just...

Bat-fans can well and truly expect to have their favourite Gotham city completely shaken up this October, as there is news that David Finch is set to take over the reigns of Batman in an all new on-going title. That, and you’ve got changes to Grant Morrison’s ‘Batman & Robin’, and the upcoming ‘Knight and Squire‘ mini series by Paul Cornell!
Batman & Robin #16

Being British myself, I feel it is my duty to deliver this piece of awesome news! Ever since having his British based title, ‘Captain Britain & MI13′ cancelled at Marvel, Paul Cornell appears to have taken his British writings to DC instead! Because starting in October this year, Paul is set to write a six issue mini series about Knight and Squire.
If you’ve been reading any of Grant Morrison’s ‘Batman’ comics over the past 2 years, then you’ll have seen these British counterparts...

Fans of the character Taskmaster will be pleased to hear that later on in September this year, he will be getting his own mini-series. Big time Marvel writer; Fred Van Lente (’Marvel Zombies 3/4/5′ and ‘Incredible Herucles’, to name but two of the hundreds of comics he’s written) is the man on the task of writing this mini series .Taskmaster is a character whose history go from seeing him frequently bump into long time pal; Deadpool, to most recently being seen over at The Initiative base whilst...

Mark Millar made everybody sex wee just a little bit back in 2008-2009 when Marvel published his ‘Old Man Logan’ storyline which focused on a future version of Wolverine, in a world where the bad guys had ultimately ‘won’, and had killed most (close to all) of the superheros. It was an absolute hit, and although it was not to everyone’s tastes, it really was an undeniable smash-hit run, and went through many printings in single issues, and sold highly in trade format too.
Recently, on his online...

I love the universe that Mike Mignola created to play host to the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defence (B.P.R.D), and Hellboy. I love it so, because the stories which it unfolds are mostly based on historical truths (such as WWII, The Nazis and various other figures and events of historic significance), but with a paranormal twist. The paranormal twists it gives them though, are done in an entirely believable way. This may sound odd, but they are indeed believable stories. Why are they so appealing though?
We crave to learn...

Planning on taking a vacation sometime soon? Why not pop over to England, we’d love to have you! Just as we love having superheroes come to visit us as well! What am I talking about, you ask yourself? Well it appears that our beautiful country has become a real magnet for our beloved ficitional heroes.
One of my favourite covers of all time.
Kick-Ass was the latest superhero film to be shot in England as far as I am aware, but very soon it will be the second most recent film to be shot here, as Captain America is apparently...

Aside from a preview of ‘Avengers: Academy’ being released today by Marvel, we’ve also got a special preview from the guys over at DC Comics for once. It’s a big comic, one that will divide Bat-fans. It’s Grant Morrison and Chris Sprouse’s ‘The Return of Bruce Wayne #1′.
This first issue of the long awaited 6 issue limited series appears to see Bruce back in caveman times, as he aims to make his way forward in time to the present day (or something insane, and dare I say ‘awesome’,...

If you enjoyed the sneak peek of Avengers #1 earlier on this week, then hopefully you’ll equally enjoy this preview of Secret Avengers #1. This is Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato’s latest comic, set for release on May 26th this year.
So in the pages we’ve been teased with, it looks like we’re seeing Valkyrie and Black Widow going undercover, for what I may as well assume at this point, to give this very naughty man the shock of his life. Instead of getting drunk with these fine ladies and having a bit of...

If you’re one of the people who reads the Marvel Solicitations each time they are published, unlike myself, then you may have noticed that for the months of May onwards, there are no entries for the Nova or Guardians of the Galaxy series.
This is because those two series (of which the most recent issues of both, I reviewed ) are going on hiatus while ‘The Thanos Imperative’ takes the main stage for 6 months. I got in contact with Dan Abnett a few days ago, and he told me that Nova would definatly be tieing in...

Marvel have released a sneak peek preview at what will probably be their biggest release of the entire year. That’s right, it’s a first look at Avengers #1, set for release Wednesday 19th May this year. Brian Michael Bendis is set to write the series, and as I’m sure you were aware, John Romita Jr is set to illustrate this hopefully ‘epic’ series.
Marvel have been a bit naughty though. Usually when they give us a sneak peek look at an upcoming comic, we get given about 4 or 5 wordless pages of interior...

How much will you pay for your Marvel comics? A lot of Marvel’s readers will have to be asking themselves this question over the next few months, and take into serious consideration what titles they are reading, and how much they are willing to spend. Because it has been revealed that this July, a number of 70 Marvel Comics, will be priced at $3.99 (that is 68% of Marvel’s comics on sale).
'Avengers' will be an expensive read for some fans
It looks like the majority of Marvel’s new titles that are set...

But ever since Mr Volcano decided to get so drunk he got sick, it looks like humanity has to wait around until it’s decided to stop spewing here, there and everywhere, and go to sleep again.

We broke you the news of the Secret Avengers as they were being revealed, and we even revealed the entire cast of Ed Brubaker’s Secret Avengers just a few days ago. Now, with regards to the advert depicting the entire cast of the Secret Avengers, everyone seemed a bit stumped as to who the blonde haired character was in the foreground, wearing an unfamiliar costume, which slightly resembled something with a Captain America feel.

Many of you probably are not aware of this, but I am infact a fan of Tim Seeley’s ‘Hack/Slash’ series. It’s a great little series, that I’ve not been reading lately for various reasons, but I own the omnibus’ and have enjoyed reading the stories I have in single issues.
This came as a surprise to me, when I heard news that at the Emerald City Comic-Con, Tim Seeley announced that he would be moving his creation to a new home at Image Comics. Hack/Slash was (and has been since the start) published...

Fred Van Lente has just been announced over at Marvel, as the writer to take on the challenge of Marvel Zombies 5, along with artist Kano. This comes as no surprise, as Van Lente was put on the task of dealing with the Marvel Zombies back when he wrote Marvel Zombies 3.

It has just been announced that Bruce Wayne is set to return to DC Comics in April 2010, after his controversial death in Final Crisis. Grant Morrison is set to write the story that will tell his return. Many people (including myself) will be annoyed to hear that he is returning so soon, thus making his return from the greay beyond yet another controversial happening for the character.

War of Kings is over! It’s finished, we’re done with that! Regardless of what you thought of War of Kings, it’s time to move on say Abnett and Lanning, whose reign over the Marvel Cosmos is arguably the work of Gods!
Roll in a new cross over event with many new tie ins, called ‘Realm Of Kings’. All I can say is that it looks mighty promising! What with the big battle between Vulcan and Black Bolt opening a fault in the universe, it also opens up the opportunity for more awesome cosmic stories. Although...

Looks like DC is at it again with another great direct-to-DVD cartoon! This one is an adaptation of the story of President Lex Luthor framing Supes, and thus putting him on the run. It is written by Stan Berkowitz who adapted Darwyn Cooke’s New Frontier (also for DC). The Green Lantern DVD isn’t even out yet and I am already psyched for this one!! Looks like they copied the art style of Ed Mcguinness pretty well to!

The list started off with A.I.M.’s mental midget MODOK and ended with the most feared mutant in the Marvel Universe, Magneto.
I have to say I was fully expecting the Joker to take the top spot, but when I saw him at #2 the next obvious choice was Mags. I didn’t look at the entire list of 100, but I have to say that I found the top 10 to be sort of weird.
Kingpin at #10 just doesn’t seem right. Maybe in like like 1995, but now he seems like a random choice. Also, where the hell is Stilt-Man on this list?? Robbed...
