Vampires exist in the DC Universe. Andrew Bennett is a vampire who believes they can co-exist with humanity, mainly by staying under the radar. His ex-lover, Mary, Queen of Blood, believes vampires should not try to co-exist with the human… livestock; vampires should rule them. Needless to say, this puts these two lovers at odds with one another. We catch up with them as Mary is making her declaration of war and Andrew is trying to get her to reconsider. Andrew doesn’t doubt his convictions about vampire-human...

The Dark Knight returns, and in keeping with a Brit in the cape Gotham City is back in London.
The Dark Knight Rises has begun filming by resuming the regular location for Gotham City Police Headquarters in Farringdon, London. The Farmiloes Building is an empty warehouse and offices that is regularly used for location filming and events. It has stood in for Gotham City in the two previous Chris Nolan movies Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan returns to the directors chair and Christian Bale dons the cowl for...

As the summer draws in another season of a much loved TV show winds to a close. Comic Impact favorite Doctor Who brings season five to an end, and what an ending! But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Doctor Who season five has been the perfect jumping on point for anyone wanting to join in the fun for the first time. A brand new Doctor, a new companion, a new TARDIS and even new Daleks. The whole season has been under a new lead writer, Steven Moffat, and he’s opened the door for anyone who’s curious about what...

Here’s a little news that pushes all my buttons and makes me smile. Sandman writer Neil Gaiman has announced at the SFX Weekender (Sussex, UK) that he has written a story for the next but one season of British cult TV series Doctor Who.
Gaiman is not only a well established comic writer but has had adaptations of his comic books Stardust and Coraline make it to the big screen. Now writing for the 11th Doctor, played by Mat Smith, his story will not air until 2011. Gaiman was quoted as saying, “As anyone who’s...

Another Tuesday and another Trade. We’re heading back 400 years and we’re bringing the Marvel Universe with us to ‘1602’, Neil Gaiman and Andy Kubert’s alternative Marvel universe set in Elizabethan England.
I love a good alternative universe tale, stripping great characters back to their iconic essence and placing them in new surroundings which can either highlight or even destroy their known legacy. When done well these stories cement our love for the characters. When done badly… well…
Fortunately this tale is...

What you gonna to do when they come for you? Ask Bad Boy because it’s Trade Tuesday and I’m bringing you a super creator team up! The comic legend Frank Miller teams up with Brit super artist Simon Bisley to bring what I’d like to say was a forgotten gem of story lost in the mists of time. I’d like to say that but I can’t, so I’ll give you Bad Boy, an interesting blip of story lost in the mists of time. Originally published as a serial in the British GQ magazine it must have seemed like a great idea at the time. Bring...

As we head to the end of David Tennant’s stint as the 10th Doctor, all eyes are on Matt Smith stepping up as the 11th Doctor, and his new assistant… Karen Gillan.
The relatively unknown 21 year old Scottish actress previously appeared in the Doctor Who story Fires of Pompei as the fortune telling daughter.
This will be her highest profile role to date. In an interview with the BBC new chief of DW, Steven Moffat, he described her as “”funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy… or Scottish, which is...

The new Star Trek film is out and Sheldon is a Trekkie so he made the rest of us watch it. I (Simon) have never seen a Trek episode in my life. Did I enjoy this film, or did I Hulk out and rampage through the Comic Impact office one more time?
Join Sheldon, Simon, Mat, and Hollie as we talk about Star Trek and what we thought of the new film! All this AND find out what our next film podcast is going to be…

I saw Wolverine on a double decker bus. They may be the size of a house and bright red, but these things always prove tricky to get a photo of.
Well here we go, and just in time for the release, which was yesterday in the UK. So did I see it? Of course I did. And what did I think? Well… come back Sunday for our round table review.

Another irregular dip into fandom finds this little gem. The Mighty Ota King is making his labor of love; a Doctor Who anime. No re-edit of existing Anime, this is all new and as cool as a penguin’s sunglasses suspended in Liquid Nitrogen. Still unfinished but… man! Too cool!

The BBC have just announced that relative unknown Matt Smith will be replacing David Tennant as the Doctor in the long running British TV series Doctor Who.
Smith will be the youngest actor to play the part at 26 years of age. He is set to take over in the 5th season of the show in Spring 2010. David Tennant will continue playing the Doctor in 4 specials during 2009.
The Doctor is a 900 year old time travelling adventurer who can regenerate to avoid death. Smith will become the 11th actor to take the roll in the TV series.
