Long Beach Comic Expo 2010
Posted by Simon Daoudi, on February 23rd, 2010
The other day Me, and Dana went to the Long Beach Comic Expo. You may remember, in October, we did our 100 episode from there. Well this time around they had a one day event.
So comic book fans, do you remember the days of San Diego Comic Con before the video games, Manga, Hollywood and the rest of the shit that has nothing to do with us die hard comic fans? Yeah remember those days when you can walk around and see some of your favorite artists? Well the Long Beach Comic Expo was just like that.
We got to see some of our...
The Saga of LBCC Part IV
Posted by Richard Bashara, on October 21st, 2009
Simon said he was getting an interview, and Matt said he was just shooting footage for the site, but I knew better.
No doubt, Lady Deadpool was foxy, but make sure you check out the other costumed crusaders from Long Beach.
When our impromptu shoot was over, we gathered our thoughts over pizza and planned our moves for the next day. Deciding that no time should be wasted, I grabbed the awesome Michael Alan Nelson for my very first video interview evar! (09, a year of firsts for me I guess).
Michael was so interesting. Here...
The Saga of LBCC Part III

“Halt!”
We complied with the command and the Stormtrooper centered his blaster on us. My friend got a bit jittery and the Stormtrooper put him in cuffs. This is how we ended up at the booth for the 501st Legion, and that’s where I met their leader, Scott Allen. He gave me his card, which featured him in full costume as the Dark Father himself.
I learned a lot about the 501st, mostly that they weren’t out to destroy the galaxy. Turns out they have a ton of divisions, all geared toward charity. Their upcoming...

The Saga of LBCC Part II
Posted by Richard Bashara, on October 12th, 2009
When we left off, I was wrapping up my first meeting with Jason Gonzalez, a colorist for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn.
Livesay stepped up to the booth and I finally got to speak with him. He seemed a bit more interested in taking commissions than talking to yours truly, but I got a chance to get his top 3 reading recommendations! He plugged his own book, Doom Patrol, but also suggested Punisher and Dark Avengers.
I bothered him about his inking work, mainly looking for insight to his process. He explained that an inker...
The Saga of LBCC Part I

I would later be told that this was what a con should be.
I was sitting outside and waiting to hear from Simon, my contact within. It was Saturday morning and I was full of spunk, the purity that comes with the excitement of the unknown. Somewhere inside the Long Beach Convention Center were artists and writers that I’d have to interview, minds I’d have to get inside of, and I had no idea what to say to any of them.
When I was done skulking around the outskirts I decided to join the party. Coming down the escalator...
Bloom County + Hot Cosplay Action = LBCC
Posted by John Mueller, on October 7th, 2009
Now that it’s been a few days since the end of the first annual Long Beach Comic-Con I’d thought I’d chirp in with some thoughts on the event. Firstly, it took place in the clean n’ cheery part of Long Beach as opposed to the “run, motherfucker, run!” areas which would have been not only an odd choice of locales, but potentially a complete disaster for us sensitive artistic types.
An entire afternoon passed in Long Beach and no one had to use their A-K. Today was a good day.
I was happy to see many independent publishers...
Matt J’s Reactions to LBCC
Posted by Matt Jackson, on October 6th, 2009
The Long Beach Comic Con is everything a con should be. It was sizable without being overly large, busy without being overbearing, and most importantly, kept it’s focus on comic books. Simon and I were both reminded of the San Diego Comic Con fifteen years ago, where there was plenty of things to see without the annoying crowds, humongous lines, and the loud presence of video game and motion picture booths (although both were present at Long Beach).
In my years of going to cons, I’ve found that there are two...
