Just in case you’re unaware…Moon Knight is freaking nuts! Seriously, the guy has dissociative identity disorder, better known as multiple personality disorder. That said, I’m really starting to love Moon Knight.
Shadowland: Moon Knight #1 of 3 takes place before Shadowland #2 which came out last month. It’s written by Gregg Hurwitz with art by Bong “coolest name ever” Dazo (I gave him that nickname). This, like many of the other Shadowland spinoffs, explores another side of the Shadowland...

Kevin Smith has proven himself time and again in comics. From Daredevil to Green Arrow to Spider-Man/Black Cat to Batman, he’s shown that while he may not be the most punctual of creators (*cough*Daredevil/Bullseye*cough*) he is definitely talented.
His latest comic book is Green Hornet, published by Dynamite Entertainment, with art by Jonathan Lau. A few years ago Smith was planning the film version of the Green Hornet but eventually left the project which has since been taken over by Michel Gondry and is hitting theaters...

If you listen to the Pick Of The Week Podcast here at Comic Impact (and you REALLY should be) you probably heard us gushing on about our love for Robert Kirkman this week. So, in keeping with that man crush this week’s statue is the CS Moore Studio Invincible Statue.
This statue is sculpted by Clayburn Moore and is hand painted. The statue stands at 15″ tall and features Invincible appearing to hover in midair. The base look like the top of a building, kind of art deco, and is arched back but tapered at the...

What? Another week has gone by? Well, that can only mean it’s time for yet another Pick Of The Week podcast! Ian has the pick this week and he uses it to display his gargantuan man-crush on Robert Kirkman. As always he’s joined by Simon and as never before he’s also joined by a recent addition to Comic Impact, Ken, who fills in this week for Sheldon who’s out interviewing for a job. Psh, a likely story.
It’s a pretty off the wall podcast with discussions ranging from last weeks comics (duh!)...

Never let it be said that Robert Kirkman is a man without ideas. Or a lazy writer. He’s the creative force behind some of the best selling comics around today, from Invincible, to Marvel Zombies, The Walking Dead…the list goes on. Plus, he’s got the forthcoming “Walking Dead” TV show on AMC which has already been approved for a second season in spite of the fact that the first season is 2 months away from its premiere!
That said, last week brought us Science Dog #1 which featured the first...

Who doesn’t like charity? It makes the world go around! It’s good for everyone and you damn well know it! A small, local volunteer group called Good Juju has been working on a pop culture/pin up/cosplay calendar lately and they plan on donating the proceeds of it to The American Cancer Society’s upcoming Relay For Life in Simi Valley.
The group recently came to Galaxy of Comics in Van Nuys, CA to do one of their photoshoots. We got a chance to sit down with the head honcho over at Good Juju, the lovely...

Lately Daken has been wearing the brown and orange/yellow Wolverine costume but thanks to Kotobukiya we get a really nice flashback to the days when Logan was sporting this awesome look.
This statue from Kotobukiya is sculpted by Takeshi Kimura and stands 9″ tall. His claws are 2 1/3″ long and are made of real metal. The sculpting on this statue is really quite amazing. It’s extremely detailed, especially on Wolverine’s face which shows him grimacing as he slashes upwards with his left fist. An...

Come on in humble listeners for another one of our Pick Of The Week podcasts! It’s a sad show this week as it’s the last weekly podcast I’ll (hello my name is Rob) be doing for a long time, because I’m heading off to University in a couple of days. So for one more time, join me and my full house of companions; Sheldon, Simon and Ian for another special show!
This episode is a bit of a Marvel-nutter show this week, as a lot of Avengers books came out! There was a mighty impact made on the world of the Hulk, as Sheldon...

Right now in the Marvel Universe the “Shadowland” story arc is in full swing with Hell’s Kitchen’s protector, Daredevil, using his army of Hand ninjas to turn the New York neighborhood into a police state. So it seems only fitting that this week’s Statue Saturday spotlights the handicapped hero in all his glory.
The Bowen Designs Red Daredevil on Gargoyle Statue is sculpted by Randy Bowen with Troy McDevitt. The statue comes in three separate pieces: Daredevil, gargoyle and a 3″ booster...

When you’re a person in charge of a group of people from time to time you have to let loose and show everyone that you really are a badass motherfucker. Thunderbolts #147 is Luke Cage and Warden John Walker’s chance to do just that.
Issue 147 of Thunderbolts starts off with a quick wrap up of the previous issue where the T-Bolts were sent to find a group of S.H.I.E.L.D. and U.N. agents who were investigating a deposit of mutation causing terrigen crystals. The agents were mutated and the Thunderbolts had to work...

Things haven’t been going well lately for Daken. He lost his spot on the Avengers when Norman Osborn was brought down, he was used as a tool by Logan to bring down Romulus and now Franken-Castle has come back for round two after being murdered by Daken.
Issue #89 of Dark Wolverine is chapter 3 of the Dark Wolverine/Franken-Castle rematch, titled “Punishment.” Chapter 1 was in Dark Wolverine #88 and Chapter 2 was in Franken-Castle #19.
The story of this series has been pretty simple: Franken-Castle is really,...

DC Direct has set out to turn some heads with it’s “Cover Girls of the DC Universe” line of statues which are sculpted after different DC covers drawn by super star artist Adam Hughes. Each statue is quite stunning in it’s own right but one that really stands out from the crowd is Zatanna.
Cover Girls of the DC Universe Zatanna is sculpted by Jack Mathews and inspired by the cover to Catwoman #58. The statue is 10″ tall x 4 1/2″ wide x 4 1/2″ long. Zatanna was the second statue...

One of the biggest surprises of 2010 has been how great the new Flash series has been. Geoff Johns’ writing has been great but what has really made this series spectacular has been the amazing art by Francis Manapul.
At this years Comic Con we got a chance to talk with him and he told us about working on Flash, the future of the series and what’s going on with him soon.

Ladies and Frat Boys, we here at Comic Impact would like to make a toast to Ian, as it is with this episode that we celebrate Ian’s first ever Pick Of The Week! Join Ian, Simon, Sheldon and Rob this week for a Marvel-packed episode of as we talk you through last weeks comics. It’s an eventful show to say the least!
The boys get seriously excited over a lot of Marvel comics this week and have some discussions about who will be Captain America by the time the movie comes out, and much more. What are the gangs thoughts...

Iron Man 2 has proven to be one of the biggest box office hits of summer 2010 and while having a functioning version of the Iron Man armor of your very own might be a bit out of reach, bringing Iron Man home to display is a very attainable goal.
The fine folks over at Kotobukiya have released an Iron Man 2 Mark IV statue for the release of the new movie. This is the company’s 3rd full body Iron Man movie statue following the Mark II and Mark III that were released for the first Iron Man movie.
The Marks II and III from...

So what has Ken Hale, everyone’s favorite gruff adventurer trapped in a gorilla’s body, been up to? Getting in a whole lot of trouble in jolly ol’ Africa, that’s what he’s doing.
Gorilla-Man is an adventurer who, thanks to a big heaping helping of magic, was turned into an immortal ape. About all that is known about him is that he works as an Agent of Atlas so this mini-series has been showing the reader where Ken Hale came from and what he did to lead him down the path toward becoming Gorilla-Man.

Every comic book convention offers a million and one things for one to occupy themselves. You can browse classic books, look for really cool statues, get pictures with cosplayers or just shop around for what looks cool. But, some of the best memories you can find at comic con will come from getting sketches at your convention’s artist alley.
For those who don’t know, artist alley is the area at any given convention where many comic book artist have tables set up so that they can sell convention sketches. Many...

There is a lot of debate over the latest issue of X-Men, and whether 90s style artwork still suits such comics or not. There is a lot of science fiction...

The new Flash series by Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul is only up to issue four and already it’s one of the books I look forward to the most every month. The reintroduction of Barry Allen into the modern DC Universe has been done flawlessly. They’ve shown how he’s a man truly out of time who is unfamiliar with modern life. They have also made a point of showing that Barry and Iris aren’t jumping right back into their old relationship, they’re taking things slow which seems very natural.

A recent Comic Impact Twitter notice said, “If you aren’t reading Chew you really need to prioritize your life.” So while we were at Comic Con last weekend we made damn sure to get an interview with the writer/creator of this great comic, John Layman. Take a look see at this video interview where he talks about the Eisner Award that Chew won, the future of the comic, rumors of a live action Chew TV show (dare I dream?) and watch John’s shock at the brevity of our interview time. Come on John, we...

I’m going to start this review by pissing off my college journalism professor and leading with a definition. One of Merriam-Webster’s definitions for “progress” is, “a forward or onward movement.” The first part of the “One Moment In Time” story arc that begins in Amazing Spider-Man #638 is (along with “Brand New Day” in general) the exact opposite of the word progress.
Aside from getting a terrible Whitney Houston song stuck in my head, “One Moment In Time”...

It’s time for the Pick Of The Week again kiddies! Enjoy the overly sleep deprived sounds of Simon (about 3 hours sleep) and Sheldon (even less) while Ian lords his 7+ hours over the other podcasters.
What a week for comics and (shockingly enough) the guys don’t all see eye to eye. Sheldon has the pick, Simon can barely read and Ian is makes disturbing promises to the creators of Gorilla-Man #1. Simon and Ian gang up on Sheldon for not reading Chew #12, everyone’s weirded out by Daredevil #508, Superman #701...

Comic book fans have a history of getting into heated debates with each other but at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con we may get more than we bargained for.
On Thursday July 22 from 1:15 PM - 2:00 PM the Westboro Baptist Church will be at the convention to protest. They say on their website that the reason behind their planned picket is that comic fans go beyond being enthusiasts and fall into “idolatry.”
The Westboro Baptist Church is located in Topeka, Kansas and is lead by anti-homosexual propagandist Fred...

Are you into comics that have tons of violence, gore, sex and cannibalism but Crossed just doesn’t feel wacky and fun enough and you’re not so much into graphic rape? Then Chew is the book for you my friend!
Chew is about Tony Chu (see what they did there?) who is an FDA agent in a world gone mad where, due to bird flu epidemic, there is a prohibition on chicken and chicken products and the FDA is now one of the most powerful branches of the US government. What makes Tony Chu special is the fact that he is a “cibopath.” ...

Comic Con is next week! Are you ready to rock out in the beautiful city of San Diego? We are can’t wait for it, but what if this is your first time at a convention (or hell, what if is your first Comic Con) and you’re not sure what it’s going to be like?
Well the Comic Impact team of Sheldon, Ian and Simon have produced a survival guide for this year’s Comic-Con. In this special 150th episode, we talk to you about how to get the best out of Comic-Con, we’ll talk about the annoying stuff you’ll...

Tim Drake has been busy since he got back to Gotham City. First he had to fend off the League of Assassins, protect pretty much everyone he knows from the League, prevent Ra’s Al Ghul from obtaining the entire Wayne estate and then got his ass royally kicked by Ra’s. Now Red Robin is creating a “hit list” of villains to bring down. The list is prioritized so that by taking one person down it will lead to the next.
Lately Tim has been living in Wayne Tower with Dick, Damian and Alfred but he wants to...

I’m a fan of The Young Avengers. I have the first hardcover on my bookshelf and I lend it out to anyone who shows any interest because it’s so good and so much more than the average sidekick book. Unfortunately a lot of the Young Avengers stories that have followed that collection haven’t really lived up to it in my eyes. So when I found out that writer Allan Heinberg and artist Jim Cheung, the creators of that fantistic original run, were coming back to write “Avengers: The Children’s Crusade”...

Simon is joined by ComicImpact staff member Ian as Rob is busy working on a secret mission. I guess we can tell you, he’s the new Milky Bar kid in the UK. Sheldon is busy trying to fix his bathroom after the sonic boom.

Ever since I started the long drive home from San Diego Comic Con ‘09 there has been one thing on my mind: San Diego Comic Con ‘10! It’s like Disneyland for comic book geeks! I put a little money away all year long to spend at Con and we always make a weekend of it with a hotel room full of pizza and drinks for after we get back from Con…but the food’s gotta stay away from the comics. We’re not compete savages!
For me a really good haul at Comic Con consists of a couple pivotal back issues...

Power Girl’s solo series has been one of the biggest surprises for me in a while. I’ve been a fan of the character but never expected her series to entertain the way it has. The writing team of Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray did an excellent job of keeping the series light hearted but at the same time giving Power Girl challenges that really put her to the test both in her super hero life and her personal one, as Karen Starr. Amanda Conner’s art was a perfect fit for not only the character herself but the mood...

It’s come around to another Pick of the Week podcast once again folks, and this time around it’s down to Rob to choose his pick. Rob is joined by Sheldon, Simon and new Comic Impact staff member Ian, who makes his first podcast appearance.
It’s a not a very fun week for comics this week, and the guys didn’t have an awful lot of fun reading their comics this week. Next week is going to be amazing though for new comics! But the guys make the best of what they have and made a hilarious show for you. The guys...

In the aftermath of Dark Reign and the Siege of Asgard, things are finally getting back to normal in the Marvel Universe. The heroes are no longer on the run and Steve Rogers is in charge. With a gaggle of heroes to manage, he has coordinated a number teams with members specially suited for the type of work that team will be doing. To put it mildly, I’m sooooo into this!
The newest team book, and the one I’ve been most looking forward to, is New Avengers #1 written by current Marvel overseer (seriously, what...

The pages of Ultimate Marvel have been rather tumultuous in the recent past with the events of Ultimatum. While most books have largely moved on, Ultimate Spider-Man has been keeping the aftermath of Ultimatum a constant source for storylines by spotlighting the backlash toward mutants from “normal humans” (would Magneto be offended by that phrase?). More specifically how “normal humans” are reacting to Kitty Pryde, a known mutant and former X-Man, going to public school with ...
