It comes as little surprise that some of the best loved and oft re-visited works of literature are solidly based in the realms of fantasy. From A Midsummer’s Night Dream to Lord of the Rings there is something hugely appealing about taking our imaginations into the lands of vibrant, idyllic, fantasias.
In this genre there is perhaps no creation as well known or as frequently re-interpreted as Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.

This Saturday, February 27th. will be the opening reception for the exhibition Curiouser and Curiouser: Inspired by Alice In Wonderland at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA. This coming Saturday, February 13, Gallery Nucleus will be holding a special book signing with the legendary Barron Storey and Kent Williams. By now I would imagine that everyone reading this is familiar with the visual mind-melt that is James Cameron’s Avatar. So last Saturday I went to the annual ‘Thought Bubble’ comic convention in Leeds closeby to where I live. This year’s event was the third since it started. Remember when Wizard World Los Angeles was canceled? I sure do since I live in Los Angeles. Now it looks like the people from Wizard World have just announced that they are bringing Wizard World back to Southern California. This time at the Anaheim Convention Center on April 16-18, 2010.
“We had an outpouring of requests by fans and partners to return to Southern California, and felt that Anaheim was the best place to come back to,” said Gareb Shamus, CEO of Wizard Entertainment in a release. ”

If you watch G4’s Attack of the Show, then I am sure you know who Blair Butler is. Yet did you know she is Booster Gold’s Number One Fan?
So look for Blair Butler on the cover of Booster Gold #23. Also, I know the t-shirt was on sale at San Diego Comic Con, but lets hope that Graphitti Designs will have the shirt available in Previews for all you fans of Booster Gold… all three of you.

One of my favorite things this weekend at Comic-Con was at the Hasbro/Marvel panel where they showed off their sexy Galactus figure from the Marvel Universe line.
David Vonner of Hasbro told us at the panel that this ‘Devourer Of Worlds’ will be 19″ tall and have lights and electronics. This will be part of the Gigantic Battles line and should be released in 2010. Now I need to find my self a Silver Surfer from the Marvel Universe line.

Here is some news from Marvel Animation at this year’s San Diego Comic Con:
Fantastic Four: World’s Greatest Heroes moves to Nicktoons with a fall lineup of 26-episodes… some that have not been seen in the U.S.
Iron Man Armored Adventures will also be on Nicktoons.
Villains include Ultimo, Ghost, the Controller, Living Laser, and MODOK.
Angel will become Archangel on Wolverine and the X-Men.
Planet Hulk will make a direct to DVD movie in February. I can’t wait for this. Also I am sure Comic Impact staff member...

If you have been reading Comic Impact for sometime now you know that staff member Sheldon is in love with Ed Brubaker (Daredevil, Captain America, Iron Fist). Well, last night before we recorded his Trade Tuesday (yeah, it’s a Brubaker book) he showed me this photo of him and his new hat.

Today was a great day for comic book fans in the San Fernando Valley!
Collector’s Paradise had a signing with Viking’s Ivan Brandon…

For sometime we have been talking about the ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books 1938–1950 Exhibition going on here in Los Angeles at the Skirball Cultural Center.

Well it is the last New York Comic Con in February. Because looks like in 2010 the New York Comic Con will take place in October as they are making plans for a new show in Chicago.
