Peter is also finding his way with his first high school crush, Gwen Stacy (Stone), and together, they struggle with love, commitment, and secrets. Hey Guys, as we continue to speed through the month of January, (seriously where has the month gone???) the news and announcements continue to come at us fast and furiously. So let’s get right to it in this week’s installment of The Impact.
DC Comics Unveils New Logo, New Brand Identity
After last week’s Impact was published Bleeding Cool broke the news that DC Comics had just trademarked a new logo. On Thursday DC officially unveiled it to the world on their blog The Source.

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Here is our first official still and set photos from The Avengers. In the article they discuss how in the movie our heroes will not necessarily get along with one another.Hawkeye himself, Jeremy Renner, puts it best,“Just because they’re super heroes doesn’t mean they’re super friends”. But despite the friction between the characters on the screen, the camaraderie between the cast and crew was apparently very prevalent as the cast and crew constantly were constantly hanging out...

Courtesy of comicbookmovie.com, SuperHeroHype ,and JustJared. Filming for The Avengers continues in New York City. Today photographers caught these images of Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, and Scarlett Johansson in their complete costumes. If this doesn’t make you geek out I don’t know what will. The more I see of Captain America’s costume, the better it looks. The Hawkeye costume looks awesome, practically a direct translation of the Ultimate Hawkeye. I really think that Clint Barton will be the...

Courtesy of comicbookmovie.com. As the endless parade of superhero set pictures continues, check out these great shots from the set of The Avengers. Currently filming in New York City we can see most of the primary cast assembled (Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson and Jeremy Renner Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and Stellen Skarsgard) and it is awesome to see them all together. Granted part of it’s movie magic, but I find it’s crazy and appropriate how much Chris Hemsworth and...

Justice League #1 Sells Out DC Unveils Cover to Second Printing.
As the media onslaught of “New 52″ coverage continues. DC’s blog, The Source confirms that Justice League #1 has sold out. They were also kind enough to share with us the cover to the second printing, which I actually like more than the cover they used for the first printing. Check it out.

Simon finally found Susan and Sheldon, so they are all back for the August edition of “Did You Catch All That?” It turned into a nice welcoming of the “New 52” this month as we said good bye to some DC books and welcomed others. Simon has issues with Detective Comics #881, while Susan paid tribute to all her DC ladies in “Girl on Girls.” Sheldon stayed true to his Marvel roots, picking Punisher as his issue and giving his two cents about Fear Itself. Meanwhile, Susan showed some love for the Doctor Who Annual,...

During last week’s episode of Breaking Bad, AMC started airing these super short and super creepy teasers for The Walking Dead. It kind of snuck up on me, we are only about a month and a half away from the second season premiere. I’m curious to see how the show will progress now that show runner, executive producer, writer, director, Frank Darabont is no longer on the show. Hopefully the show will maintain it’s high quality as we make our way through the 13-episode season. One way or the other we will...

Courtesy of Sony . Check out the trailer and poster for Sony’s Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Now I saw an extended trailer to this film during the Sony presentation at this past Comic Con. I can tell you this…I have no idea if the story is going to make a lick of sense but the footage looked insanely awesome. I like that this one definitely has a horror/monster vibe to it. The sequel is written and directed by Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor. Nicholas Cage returns as Johnny Blaze/ Ghost Rider. The cast...

The article mainly focuses on the show filming in Chicago and how it incorporated the city as a character. We do gleam a few interesting anecdotes and information. If the series is picked up it, which it’s looking very possible, it will air next June. When describing the show executive producer and writer Chic Eglee called it, “a mashup...

Courtesy of Celebritygossip.net: Currently, The Avengers is filming a massive action sequence in Cleveland, Ohio. This is not the first time Cleveland has doubled for Marvel’s New York City. I was there last time when they were filming for Spider-Man 3. One lucky fan/paparazzi was able to capture our first look at Chris Evans in the full Captain America uniform. I will say that the new suit looks really good. You really could not make this anymore accurate to the comic. Previously, we got glimpses of the uniform during...

In 1982, I discovered the wonderful and exciting adventures of Cliff Secord, a young pilot who stumbled across a jet pack and with the help of his mechanic friend Peavey, became “The Rocketeer.” Lovingly written and exquisitely illustrated by Dave Stevens, the book was a throwback to 1930’s pulp magazines, radio programs, and movie serials, with artwork reminiscent of the detailed line work of comics legend Russ Heath. I followed the Rocketeer’s exploits from their original run as a backup to Mike Grell’s “Starslayer”...

Let’s get the obvious out of the way: yes, there’s a million Deadpool books out there right now. So, why in the world would we need yet another? Well, keep reading my friend and you shall find out.
“Deadpool Max” #1 is written by David Lapham with art by Kyle Baker. What makes this book, or any Marvel Max series, different from mainstream Marvel books is the “explicit content” warning on the cover. “Deadpool Max” has all the swearing and violence and adult situations that...

I’m more a fan of Marvel than DC, but if there’s one thing DC has over Marvel it’s their animation. Over the last few years DC has put out some pretty damn good direct to DVD movies and this week they are releasing Superman/Batman: Apocalypse. This is the ninth original animated movie from DC and is a direct sequel to Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.
This movie takes place almost right after Public Enemies and tells the story of Superman meeting his cousin from Krypton, Kara. Like Superman, Kara was sent away...

Well it’s been a long wait, but we’re finally starting to see some set pictures of Chris Evans for the Captain America movie. I know we all want to see him in the costume, but we gotta ease into things here. So here we can see Chris in a white shirt that’s probably a size or two too small, and some pants that are looking too small as well. So I’m thinking this is right after Steve goes through the super soldier experiment and he’s gone from this tiny little guy to the full-size Captain America we...

Are we seeing the first photos of Chris Evans as Captain America? Doesn’t look like it, I’m thinking it’s his stunt double, but we do get to see the suit, shield and motorcycle for the first time. His suit looks to be based on The Ultimate Universe Captain America and looks really good.
It’s really detailed and has a vintage color feel to it. The motorcycle has that same vintage touch to it. The body, saddle bags and paint are all very 1940’s, which leads me to believe that the scene they are...

Ok I am not a big Thor fan but I do enjoy looking at Jack Kirby and Olivier Coipel artwork. After watching this Comic Con Trailer that was leaked I can now say WOW I can’t wait for this film. It looks like Marvel studio and Kenneth Branagh have done this the right way. I don’t want to go on for to long, just watch
this trailer.
Are you done watching and now counting down the days like I am? THOR is directed by Kenneth Branagh and stars Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins,...

A lot of big announcements came out of San Diego Comic Con this past week, and whether you were there or not it will be likely that you’ve heard about some of them. I wasn’t fortunate enough to be there this past week, unlike everyone else on the Comic Impact team, but I was able to watch the news flow in from afar. I tell you what though dear readers, I had a heck of a time catching up on all the announcements and news since I only came back home from France on the last day of Comic Con’. There are some really...

The new Batman film is starting filming right now in the streets of New York City. Ok maybe not, it looks like Russell Brand was spotted in lower Manhattan Saturday wearing a Batman costume and Luis Guzman as they filming for the remake of Arthur.
If you look closely, you’ll notice that his “utility belt” has tiny bottles of liquor, a flask, a shot glass, some exploding confetti. I know I would ad bottle of Jagermeister on my utility belt. The new version of Arthur has been written by Peter Baynham he has work on stuff...

Next week is San Diego Comic Con, so it’s time for Entertainment Weekly to put up their Special Comic Con Preview. What’s the best thing you can put on the cover? A photo of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan. I am sure that would get a lot of buzz on the internet. So much so that my mail box was full of it today.

As the summer draws in another season of a much loved TV show winds to a close. Comic Impact favorite Doctor Who brings season five to an end, and what an ending! But I’m getting ahead of myself.
Doctor Who season five has been the perfect jumping on point for anyone wanting to join in the fun for the first time. A brand new Doctor, a new companion, a new TARDIS and even new Daleks. Ok, so yesterday we showed you the concept designs of what Chris Evans would look like as Captain America. But now how about some photos of what Chris Hemsworth looks like as Thor.
If you re-call sometime ago, we had posted a photo of Hemsworth dressed as Thor, and it look badass, yet I am not 100% sure if this is official. I am not big fan of his hammer, Mjolner glowing. There is something about these photos that look a bit too CG, and they feel a bit weird.
