Ok, here are some screen shots from the new Iron Man 2 trailer, and what I think is going on in each. This is just my thoughts about this film. Since Iron Man is my favorite character, I’ve been thinking about it a lot.
PLEASE NOTE there may be some SPOILERS, or it might turn out that I’m just talking out of my ass.
I guess we’ll find out on May 7th of this year. Be sure to stay tuned to ComicImpact for a special Iron Man 2 podcast the week the film opens.

I don’t know what to say, but all I can say for now is WOW. Here is the Iron Man 2 trailer that was aired straight after the Academy Awards. For those of you who’ve been living under a rock for the past year, here’s a brief synopsis of the film:
Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, the wealthy playboy whose exploits as Iron Man are now public knowledge after his admission at the close of the first film. In the follow-up, Stark is pitted against his Russian arch nemesis, Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), and corporate...

We all know that I love Doctor Who right? After all, I have got Dana watching it now. Wondering what things will be like when Matt Smith (Eleventh Doctor) takes over? Well check out this very trippy trailer that will come in front of Alice In Wonderland for are friends in the UK. So put on your 3-D glasses and enjoy the trip.
I am a long time who fan (Tom Baker was my first Doctor), and I am still not 100% sure that Matt Smith will make a great doctor, and I have a feeling that this new season. They are trying too hard to get...

I want to tell you a story of something that recently IMPACTed my life. And by impacted I mean slapped me in the face with amazing!
I just found out that there is a new animated Batman film in the works and the news gets better from there. The name of the film slated for release sometime this year (maybe in time for San Diego Comic Con?) is Batman:Under the Red Hood or Batman: Under the Hood depending on who you ask. At any rate it tells the story of the Red Hood as told by Judd Winick in the comics starting with Batman...

Here’s a little news that pushes all my buttons and makes me smile. Sandman writer Neil Gaiman has announced at the SFX Weekender (Sussex, UK) that he has written a story for the next but one season of British cult TV series Doctor Who.
Gaiman is not only a well established comic writer but has had adaptations of his comic books Stardust and Coraline make it to the big screen. Now writing for the 11th Doctor, played by Mat Smith, his story will not air until 2011. Gaiman was quoted as saying, “As anyone who’s...

In a move that shocked absolutely no one, AMC greenlit production of at least one episode of the show based off of Kirkman’s comic. Frank Darabont (Of Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile fame) is basically going to be a one man army, writing, directing and possibly producing the show.
TV skeptics, like these losers over here, think this show won’t be able to sustain itself. They argue shows like Lost are losing the public’s interest. Maybe they are right, but I feel it underestimates the intriguing story...

Here at Comic Impact we try to keep you up to date with breaking news in the comic book world. That includes comic book movies and this past week has had quite a few shakeups in big comic productions.
Yesterday there was news of a recast in the Thor movie slated for release in 2011. Fandral, a member of the Warriors Three who was originally set to be portrayed by Stuart Townsend, who you may recall from his portrayal as Dorian Gray in the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen film, has been recast. Don’t ask me when the next issue of Kick Ass is coming out. But I can tell you from the screening we saw you will fall in love with Hit-Girl I know we all did. She is the star of the film.

Bryan Singer signed on to direct X-Men: First Class…What should happen(doesn’t mean it will)
When I first heard the news of Bryan Singer, director of the first two X-men movies, was returning to helm the next in the franchise, I was immediately feeling hopeful. You gotta admit, we had a good franchise going until Brett Ratner came along and retooled possibly one of Marvel’s 5 greatest story arcs in their history, (The beloved Phoenix Saga) to look more like a Rush Hour sequel. Seriously, if it ain’t...

I begin with a simple premise: Science Fiction is harder to do in literature, movies and television than straight drama.
Why? Doctors, lawyers and police have inherent drama we all know an understand on a visceral level.
Science Fiction posits “what ifs” and world’s that don’t exist. Where do you begin and how do you make it believable? Two series I follow are “Heroes” and “Smallville” They both deal with “what if” as opposed to “what is. Watching...

So here it is, the trailer that made me change my pants while I was working at the comic shop. Sure, it’s only a small, less than three minute tease, but if the movie is anything like this…All us fans of Shell Head are in for a HUGE treat. I mean, who doesn’t love The Iron Man cheerleaders? This is only part of the fun in this trailer.
Take a look at the circled content in this image. Could this be Titanium Man/Crimson Dynamo? I know, from an inside source, there was a suit made for him for the first movie that...

Love having AC/DC in the background. It’s maintaining the same look as the first film and it looks like Tony Stark’s is loving the live style of a superhero. Why the fuck not right I know I would.

So, now that AMC (The channel, not the theater) has picked up the rights to one of the hottest Image titles around, It’s time for “teh inter-tubes” to collectively speculate on the whole situation, so here are my two cents…
First of all, Frank Darabont is going to write, direct and produce the series. This is the man that adapted the epic Shawshank Redemption and emotional Green Mile for the screen. Why are these significant? Both films deal heavily with themes of being trapped against one’s...

The story is about a lone U.S. deputy marshal (Kate Beckinsale) assigned to Antarctica. She must investigate a murder on the frozen continent within three days, before the arctic winter begins. The woman crosses paths with a U.N. operative (Gabriel Macht),...

Comic Film Snob for the week of June 8,2009
Well I am back with more snobbery!!
This week we start out with something that made my jaw hit the ground harder than Wilson Fisk falling on his ass!!! Apparently Todd “I roll in cash” McFarlane has plans for a new Spawn movie AND he wants Leonardo DeCaprio in it!! Crazy right? No, it gets better! On top of that Leo wouldn’t even play the title character because, hey, this is a Todd McFarlane film- great actors line up for this and Leo is just a B Lister! The great...

One of my favorite films of all time is the 1987 ultra-violent action flick, RoboCop. Sure, I’m aware that Frank Miller worked on the screen plays for RoboCop II and RoboCop III, but I don’t give a shit since I am not a fan of Miller.
It has come to my attention that a RoboCop movie remake is in development, and I’m not a big fan of the idea.
I have always loved the concept of a cyborg guy doing his part of putting an end to the violent, out of control crime in a city that lay in financial ruin. And yes, I can...

Andrea Romano has been one of the driving forces in animation voice overs for more than a quarter century, her credit list reading like the honor roll for the Saturday morning cartoon Hall of Fame. From dramatic (Batman: The Animated Series) to silly (Animaniacs), contemporary (The Boondocks) to timeless (Smurfs), Romano has set the standard for matching actor to character with absolute savvy. Along the way, she has become a household name to legions of animation fans.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has...

As we head to the end of David Tennant’s stint as the 10th Doctor, all eyes are on Matt Smith stepping up as the 11th Doctor, and his new assistant… Karen Gillan.
The relatively unknown 21 year old Scottish actress previously appeared in the Doctor Who story Fires of Pompei as the fortune telling daughter.
This will be her highest profile role to date. In an interview with the BBC new chief of DW, Steven Moffat, he described her as “”funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy… or Scottish, which is...

Seth Rogen has also joined the cast along with Jason Bateman, Jane Lynch, Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader.

Wow!! Just… umm… wow! This is not only a GREAT fan made trailer, but it also has almost everything on my Lantern check list- especially Nathan Fillion as Hal (which he should be)!! I hope the guys over at DC and WB are looking at this long and hard ’cause if this doesn’t get Nathan the job, I’m not sure what else would!!! Until we hear something directly from DC I guess we can just have this on a permanent loop. On a side note, I think having Hugh Laurie as Sinestro would be pretty bad ass as well!!

The Trailer for The Surrogates film is now on line! The film is based on a five-issue comic book series written by Robert Venditti.
I remember reading the graphic novel sometime back in 2006. I told myself this would make for a fun film one day and that day has come. The story is an ex cop (Bruce Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of surrogates (robotic body doubles of people). The film is directed by Jonathan Mostow and stars Bruce Willis.

I gave you good folks the news on Saturday that a Thor had been chosen for the new film and now we have a Loki! They went with Tom Hiddleston from the BBC miniseries Wallander. Not much is known about this actor other then he was also up for the lead role of Thor as well.
Apparently the news is that he will also be in the Avengers film set to be released in 2012, which to me might indicate that not only will we see a large team up of GREAT superheros but also a large line up of supervillains! Which is really a cool idea as...
