DC Direct has set out to turn some heads with it’s “Cover Girls of the DC Universe” line of statues which are sculpted after different DC covers drawn by super star artist Adam Hughes. Each statue is quite stunning in it’s own right but one that really stands out from the crowd is Zatanna.
Cover Girls of the DC Universe Zatanna is sculpted by Jack Mathews and inspired by the cover to Catwoman #58. The statue is 10″ tall x 4 1/2″ wide x 4 1/2″ long. Zatanna was the second statue...

Early today we got the official first look at Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern the emerald warrior for Space Sector 2814. , now we have some scans of inside the Entertainment Weekly San Diego Comic-Con Preview Special.
This time around there are some photos of Reynolds(Hal Jordan), Blake Lively (Carol Ferris), Peter Sarsgaard (Hector Hammond), Tim Robbins (Senator Hammond) and Angela Bassett (Dr. Amanda Waller). So are you reading Brightest Day? I am not, but I do love Deadman. Now why I am asking you that question? Because the people over at DC on the official blog posted this on Tuesday.
After the BLACKEST NIGHT comes the BRIGHTEST DAY, and if you’re still reeling from the amazing look of the DC DIRECT figures surrounding last year’s DCU-spanning event, you may need to sit down for this one.
Starting in March, DC DIRECT will kick off another series of high-quality and story-specific product, this time based around the hit bi-weekly...

If you have been reading some of articles here on our site or if you’ve been listening to some of our audio podcasts, then maybe you’ll be aware that I love Jeff Lemire’s ‘Sweet Tooth’ from Vertigo Comics. The question I have been asking myself is “how would he do on a superhero comic with capes”. Then a few months back we found out that he was going to work on the ‘Brightest Day The Atom Special #1′ for DC Comics.
Now that I have read it I can tell you he did a great job....

Ever since I started the long drive home from San Diego Comic Con ‘09 there has been one thing on my mind: San Diego Comic Con ‘10! It’s like Disneyland for comic book geeks! I put a little money away all year long to spend at Con and we always make a weekend of it with a hotel room full of pizza and drinks for after we get back from Con…but the food’s gotta stay away from the comics. We’re not compete savages!
For me a really good haul at Comic Con consists of a couple pivotal back issues...

Ok, so I love Batman stuff, and after all I do have a Batman tattoo on my left arm. I do love Grant Morrison too, as I think he is one of the best writers in comics. So far I have not been enjoying ‘The Return of Bruce Wayne’, but I have not read part 2, as it only just hit comic book stores the other day.
But the good people at DC Direct think so much of this new Batman story line, that they going to make a set of time-hopping Bruce Wayne figures. In this line, we’ll get a Prehistoric Batman, Witch-Hunter Batman,...

I love action figures, and I love most of DC’s hugely successful Blackest Night line. Sure I have been know to talk mad shit about these figures from time to time, but I still enjoy playing with a new one. Just ask my mastercard bill.
When I first heard about the Blackest Night figures, I wish they’d have made more Black Lanterns and thanks to the seventh installment of the series we have some. The figures are: Black Lantern Superman, back from the dead…again; Sinestro Corps Member Arkillo, dissenter defeated,...

Do you enjoy statues? I know I do. I have a few around here. I have been a fan of the Cover Girls statues, designed by fan-favourite artist Adam Hughes. So far I have not found one that I have been in love with until I saw this one.
Yeah that’s right, Batgirl is the latest superhero to join one of the most successful DC Direct statue lines of all time – the COVER GIRLS OF THE DC UNIVERSE!

This week we’re taking a look at Blackest Night Aquaman from wave 3. Sure, I know not a lot of people don’t care for Aquaman, but there are a few of us in the world, maybe 5%, that do. After all, he is due to come back in a big way in Brightest Day, and he was one of the first Black Lanterns in Blackest Night, which is due to end on March 31st. So let’s find out if this week’s figure is staying on my shelf or going to sleeping with the fishes after this review.

If you have been reading here at the site or listening to the podcasts for a while, you know I love the Green Lanterns. In fact, there is one sexy lantern I would like to get to know if I was part of the DC Universe. I’m talking about Arisia. But what is she like as a figure? This week we are looking at Green Lantern Arisia Blackest Night figure from wave 3. She is in the same wave as Larfleeze, Aquaman and Star Sapphire.

This week we’re looking at the Kryb Blackest Night figure, from the second wave of Blackest Night figures, by the good people over at DC Direct. Let me tell you something, this is one fucking creepy figure.. but that works, since Blackest Night is the biggest story in comics right now, because the dead are rising.

So it’s friday and it’s time for a new Figure Friday, so this week we are going to take a look at a Green Lantern John Stewart figure from Blackest Night. So far these toys have not been the best around, but yet I have been loving the DC Comic’s Blackest Night story. To be honest I know that DC Direct’s figures are not the best figures to play with, they’re more figures that are there to sit nicely on your shelf.
Now on with the review.

DC Directs popular line of busts continues with its new series “Heroes of the DC Universe” which began with Hal Jordan then briefly detoured into a parallel line entitled “Heroes Villains of the DC Universe” lead by Lord Darkseid himself.
The second in the series was ironically enough Batman. These busts continue the tradition of fantastic sculpts and dynamic poses from its predecessor “Women of the DCU”. Hal’s outstretched arm, fist clenched doing battle with an intergalactic foe, Darkseid arms akimbo taking...

It’s been a long time coming, and might I say it’s still as sweet as ever. Coming at you again with another DC Direct release, DC has returned to animated maquettes since is series done for Brice Timm’s Justice League.
Beginning with the release of Wonder Woman from her animated feature, followed up by Hal Jordan from his appearance in First Flight. As usual these maquettes capture there animated likenesses with very simple sculpts and straight forward poses. Hal’s stance is that of a man without fear,...

Just about every fan in Sector 2814 can say the oath, unfortunately we rarely have the tools to make it just that much cooler. DC Direct has the solution with the latest addition to the “JLA Trophy Room” series of replicas.
There have been Power Battery releases before and the gamut included Alan Scott and Abin Sur’s lanterns but this reissue is made that much sweeter by being cast in metal as opposed to the plastic of previous releases.
As much praise as I can give to this piece, what with its gorgeous metallic sheen,...

Here’s just a sample from the DC Direct Ame-Comi line up of really well designed vinyl figures! This figure line gives us a twist on the traditional take of the female characters from the DC Universe. It gives them an anime design including the typical gigantic eyes, youthful appearance, and huge boobs that define the genre. They have also changed the costuming to reflect anime styling while at the same time retaining the traditional elements of each heroine’s costume. Several figures have been released so far, including...
