This is a question I get asked all the time, so I felt it was time to have a little sit down and discuss how to choose a cosplay.
For me, choosing a character to cosplay is never a challenge because of how I look at cosplaying. When I decide to make a costume it’s because I have a certain love for the character or can relate to the character in some way. I ask myself the question, “What character do I love?” and that makes everything much easier!
Buuutttt Kiiiiiiit! I can’t be my favorite character because, I’m...

Oh man, San Diego Comic Con is right around the corner and that means it’s time to finish up those costumes and somehow pack them/get them to the con. Here are some tricks I’ve used and ones my friends have told me about to help you get to the con in fine form.
1.Make a List: As you can tell from my articles, I love lists! They’re organized, they’re clear, and they’re simply the best way to lay out the information you need to stay on track. Make a packing list, and a “getting ready in the morning” list.
2.Print...

San Diego Comic Con is right around the corner, and many of you are probably hard at work making your costumes (I know I am!). With this in mind I thought I’d try to offer some help in the most hated area of costuming - glove making. It’s a pain, it’s horrible, and you will probably fail the first/second/even third time you try. I know I still screw up making gloves, and I’ve made probably a dozen at this point.
The steps below are technically not the correct way to make gloves, but it’s my lazy way and it gets the...

Hey everyone have I got a super awesome surprise for you! I’d like to announce this spiffy new shirt you can all get at www.cafepress.com/comicimpact. It’s the official Kit Quinn Comic Impact shirt/mug/hoodie/onsie! That’s right, as my Monarch says, “now you can have my chest on your chest”…or on your coffee…or small child…
The art of the shirt was done by the amazing Justin Orr. I know I love the work he put into getting this shirt made, and I tell ya, he even got my eye color right! Fun story I met Justin...

2011 marks the 25th anniversary of San Francisco’s WonderCon and the convention’s growth, particularly within the last few years, has been remarkable to say the least. When I first began attending in the late 90’s the convention was held across the Bay in Oakland (then its home since its inception in 1987) and was still a moderately low-key affair. With its move to the Moscone Center in 2003, attendance has grown steadily with every passing year. Most astounding is the jump from last year’s head count...

What you got under there? …Under where?
Ohhh such a naughty topic this week!! We’ll be talking about all the unmentionables superheroes use to keep their bits and pieces looking tight and right under all that spandex! Now, the needs of the boys are different from the needs of the girls. So fellas, I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never had to deal with your…particular needs, so I’m going to talk about the girls first, and then hand it over to Clyde Max to cover your needs!
But first ladies!!! Let us talk about underwear,...

Nice Body…Can I have a Copy?
Alright,so you’re cruisin’ through the con and you see a fine lookin’ lady coming towards you…and then walk right past you…so you think to yourself, “Dang, I’d love to have a copy of her at home.” Well, you’re in luck, because this week I’m showing you how to make your very own body cast! I personally made a Tally (Cosplay Girl of the Month for November 2010) to keep at home!
Yeah, ok, I’m such a liar. Really, Tally and I are making Rescue armor for her for Comic...

Hey all, Kit here with your monthly Cosplay Girl of the Month post!
To start this whole adventure out I figured I should try to set some things straight. Specifically, what the heck this cosplay thing is, and what it means! Now as those who are in the cosplay community know, trying to set parameters or rules that must be met for a person to be defined as a cosplayer is impossible (and slightly dangerous.) But here it is as I see it.
So Cosplay, where the heck did that word come from? Well it’s a mash up of costume play. Which...

Ha! You think you’re so clever! You thought, “I’ll just skim down to the summary paragraph and see who it is! I’m so smart!” Well, that sure as Hell isn’t the case, buck-o! You’ve got to actually click the story to find out who the winner is!
So, if you don’t know, we at Comic Impact have been having our Cosplay Girl Of The Year contest as voted by you, the reader/sycophantic follower. The contestants were all 11 of our Cosplay Girls of The Month from 2010. Every month...

Sorry for the delay, oh faithful Comic Impact readers. The costume submissions were all so amazing that we at Comic Impact needed another day to deliberate before making our final decision.
For those who don’t know, we at Comic Impact have been holding our second annual Halloween Costume Contest over the past few weeks. The rules were pretty simple: put together your best comic book inspired costume, use out our Comic Impact Halloween logo, and get those cameras clicking! The contest officially came to a close on...

The second annual Long Beach Comic Con has now come and gone and it is with a huge measure of relief that I can say that it has not merely bested last year’s event, but gave me every reason to believe it will continue to move in a positive direction as well. And, as strange as it sounds, I’d say it topped last year’s inaugural LBCC just by simultaneously growing larger yet staying essentially the same: by keeping the focus on sequential art, the people who make it, and the fans who love it.
The comic book Gods...

Hey, all you Comic Impact readers. Damn are you looking pretty today! Tomorrow is the last day to get your submissions in for the 2010 Comic Impact Costume Contest. We’ve had an amazing turnout this year. Every single contestant has really gone above and beyond with their costumes and have made our job as judges even harder.

As most of you know, we love cosplayers here at Comic Impact. So, while down in Long Beach we made sure to take lots of pictures and video for all of you out there who couldn’t make it to the Long Beach Con. The costumes were amazing and we all were blown away by the amount of detail that everyone put in. Everyone looked great! So enjoy our video and keep checking back for pictures as well.
Oh, and there is a little message from our October Cosplay Girl of the Month, Kit Quin and our soon to be November Cosplay Girl of...

Remember way back when we did the story about the charity calendar all full of sexy girls in costume? Me too. Those are good memories. Well, Good Juju, the volunteer group that sponsored the calendar, will be throwing a party this Saturday, September 25th to celebrate its release.
The party is going to be held at a club in North Hollywood, CA called CIA and preorder tickets are $10 but if you wait until Saturday the price will be $15 at the door. The party is 18 and over and drinks will be available for purchase at the bar...

Who doesn’t like charity? It makes the world go around! It’s good for everyone and you damn well know it! A small, local volunteer group called Good Juju has been working on a pop culture/pin up/cosplay calendar lately and they plan on donating the proceeds of it to The American Cancer Society’s upcoming Relay For Life in Simi Valley.
The group recently came to Galaxy of Comics in Van Nuys, CA to do one of their photoshoots. We got a chance to sit down with the head honcho over at Good Juju, the lovely...

I’ve already seen some amazing things in the short while I’ve lived in a conscious existence on this Earth. But never before, have I seen such commitment and dedication to a hobby than that of Anthony Le, a 25 year old fitness consultant. He has loved Iron Man since he was a kid, and has just finished constructing his impressive-looking War Machine suit, in time for the release of Iron Man 2.
I thought you readers would love to see what Anthony Le’s suit looks like because to be quite honest, it is so astonishing...

Let’s face it, I love Batman. I love porn also, so when I first heard about this 1960s parody porn movie, I was thinking it was a dirty joke from a few of my friends but now that I have seen a trailer for this, I still can’t believe that it is coming out.
Also, it does not help that Lexi Belle is in this film playing Harley Quinn and Batgirl is in this film as well, and we know how I feel about Batgirl. I find her so sexy. Well I think it is great that the porn industry is poking fun at one of the best...

Last weekend gave us the inaugural edition of the Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con and although I had fun I have mixed feelings about the event to say the least. I do have a bit of a rant concerning the event (and others like it) to get up on the soapbox about, but I’d like to save that for the end of this report and spend some time first spotlighting some of the cool comics creators, dedicated cosplayers, and eminently fun pop culture ephemera to be found at the event.
Some of the biggest attention getters on a con floor...

I hope you enjoy the photos. Make sure to come back on Tuesday, for more photos on Wizard World Anaheim. Also,you...

It comes as little surprise that some of the best loved and oft re-visited works of literature are solidly based in the realms of fantasy. From A Midsummer’s Night Dream to Lord of the Rings there is something hugely appealing about taking our imaginations into the lands of vibrant, idyllic, fantasias.
In this genre there is perhaps no creation as well known or as frequently re-interpreted as Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland.
