2012 will be bringing us a number of exciting comic book movies, one of them is the new Superman reboot, Man of Steel, directed by Zack Snyder.
Variety reported today that in the forthcoming Superman film, the role of Jor-El, Superman’s birth father, will be played by Academy Award winner Russell Crowe.
Crowe will be joined by Henry Cavill in the titular role, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Diane Lane as Martha “Ma” Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonathan “Pa” Kent and Michael Shannon as General Zod.

This morning, “Heat Vision” courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter announced the casting for the animated adaptation of Batman:Year One. This series by Frank Miller has become a staple in the Batman universe, including its story being referenced in Batman Begins. Warner Bros. Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures have announced actor Michael Shannon has been cast in the role of General Zod for their upcoming Superman movie titled Superman: Man of Steel. General Zod first appeared in Adventure Comics #283. Speculation has been crazy over the past few months as to who will portray Lois Lane in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Superman reboot, Superman: Man of Steel. Names such as Natalie Portman, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and even Twilight’s Kristen Stewart have been rumored to be in the running for the role.

After months of speculation following the announcement of plans for a Superman reboot, Warner Bros. revealed today who will be donning the iconic blue and red costume in director Zack Snyder’s upcoming film.
Playing the titular role in Superman shall be Henry Cavill, who has also appeared in Showtime’s The Tudors. The film is a reboot, which will be taking Superman back to his origins, that has been masterminded by the Christopher Nolan and David Goyer, the creative team behind Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

So, it was confirmed today that Anne Hathaway will be Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy will play Bane in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, The Dark Knight Rises. Last time we saw Kyle in a Batman film she was played by Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992’s Batman Returns. Today’s press release from Warner Bros. only lists Hathaway as Kyle, making no mention of Catwoman. Hopefully, the film will feature Kyle as the famous, feline, femme fatale as well.

Earlier this week we reported about a story at Deadline that said that Emma Stone has been offered the role of Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.
Today Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures, gave a press release saying that Stone has actually been cast as Gwen Stacy in the reboot.

One of the biggest comic book movie shocks of 2010 has been the sudden firing of Sam Raimi from the Spider-Man films and the proposed “reboot” of the franchise.
Today, Deadline is reporting that Sony Pictures will “imminently offer the role of Mary Jane Watson” to actress Emma Stone (Zombieland, Easy A) in the upcoming reboot. The role was filled by actress Kirsten Dunst in the previous three Spider-Man films.

Recently announced as the latest actor to join the ranks of the cast in the upcoming Captain America movie, is iconic actor, Tommy Lee Jones. Let’s face it, I love Batman. I love porn also, so when I first heard about this 1960s parody porn movie, I was thinking it was a dirty joke from a few of my friends but now that I have seen a trailer for this, I still can’t believe that it is coming out.

It seems the AMC television adaptation of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead has found it’s leading man. The role of Rick Grimes has been awarded to English actor Andrew Lincoln. Lincoln hasn’t done much in the United States but was part of the hit British tv show This Life as well as doing many voice-overs for radio and television advertising.
