The new Flash series by Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul is only up to issue four and already it’s one of the books I look forward to the most every month. The reintroduction of Barry Allen into the modern DC Universe has been done flawlessly. They’ve shown how he’s a man truly out of time who is unfamiliar with modern life. They have also made a point of showing that Barry and Iris aren’t jumping right back into their old relationship, they’re taking things slow which seems very natural.

So are you reading Brightest Day? I am not, but I do love Deadman. Now why I am asking you that question? Because the people over at DC on the official blog posted this on Tuesday.
After the BLACKEST NIGHT comes the BRIGHTEST DAY, and if you’re still reeling from the amazing look of the DC DIRECT figures surrounding last year’s DCU-spanning event, you may need to sit down for this one.
Starting in March, DC DIRECT will kick off another series of high-quality and story-specific product, this time based around the hit bi-weekly...

I would like to follow up on Sheldon’s review of The Flash #1, with a review of what I thought about the second issue in this new series. My thoughts on the first issue are pretty much identical to those of Sheldons, and I think it’s safe to say that we both thought it was a beautiful work of art. Therefore I was expecting the second issue to be just as good, and I had put my faith quite comfortably in the hands of Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul to continue working their magic.
So with relatively high expectations,...

A book that stood out to me as overall amazing last week was Birds of Prey. The cover by Ed Benes and Nei Ruffino, the artist and colorist team who also does all the interiors, caught my eye and it was all up hill from there. The cover alone was beautiful. A dull grey and green background helps the colors of the “Heroes” pop. Oracle, Black Canary, Lady Blackhawk, Huntress, Dove and Hawk all look so powerful, like you really don’t want to mess with this group of good looking people.
This was a great first...

Titans came out with an oversized one shot this week Villains for Hire, written by Eric Wallace. This issue has Deathstroke (Slade Wilson) gathering a group of assassins for hire, his very own Titans. And their first mission is to kill the Atom (Ryan Choi) for Dwarfstar. Deathstroke enlists, “Floronic Man” (Jason Woodrue), can manipulate plant life. “Cheshire” (Jade), she is a martial artist, marksman and an expert in poison, ”Tattooed Man” (Mark Richards) with the power to make...

David Finch cover for Action Comics #891
For those of you who enjoyed Blackest Night for the most part, and especially enjoyed seeing Lex Luthor as an Orange Lantern alongside Larfleeze, then you’re going to be one of the lucky people whose day I may well just make with this piece of news.
It has been announced that British writer Paul Cornell (Captain Britain & MI13, Dr. Who) is set to start work over at DC Comics, on ‘Action Comics’. He will be working alongside artist Pete Woods (World of New Krypton)...

I am officially a big nerd. It is new comic day and I just got through reading Flash Issue 1 by Geoff Johns and Francis Manapul and all I can think about is THIS is the Flash I know and love and I refuse to take off my new ring! Lately many of you who listen to the podcast know I am the strictly Marvel guy. There is more to me then that though..I just happen to LOVE the Marvel Universe. Some of my starter comics and toys though were DC and I still hold a fond place in my heart for a few DC mainstays the Flash being one of...

Welcome to part 2 of my WonderCon wrap-up. Let’s review a couple of general notes before we begin, any panel recaps are not claimed as strict transcripts, most are just the gist of what was said, unless there is something in quotes. Anything in Italics is tangents and commentary by yours truly. Also, panels may contain spoilers. Please enjoy below information from the Image Comics panel and the DC Brightest Day panel. I’ve broken things down into categories of discussion, hopefully it’s easy to follow.

So now that Blackest Night is done, now we get Brightest Day. As I told you guys sometime back, Brightest Day is about the return of the infamous DC icons, who are now back from the dead. Characters such as Martian Manhunter, Aquaman, Firestorm and many more.
The Green Lantern and the Green Lantern Corps series are going to be all about the White Lanterns. Flash takes on the reborn Captain Boomerang in his new series. Max Lord is now back for Justice League: Generation Lost. Also Hawk and Dove are featured on the cover of Birds...

As we come towards the conclusion of DC’s epic Blackest Night story we are all excited and looking ahead to the follow up, Brightest Day. Before the days of the color war and eventually Blackest Night, these stories were quite contained within the Green lantern titles, never really effecting the outside world.
Geoff Johns took a great risk and allowed the rich history of the lanterns to bleed into other titles changing the course of a lot of key books. At first i was a little concerned. Having read some Green Lantern,...

Is Aquaman coming back for Brightest Day? I am not sure but I can tell you that I love the cover to the second issue of Brightest Day, Mr DC Comics him self Geoff Johns had this to say about Brightest Day
“Brightest Day’ is about second chances. I think it’s been obvious from day one that there are major plans for the heroes and villains from Aquaman to take center stage in the DC Universe, among many others, post-Blackest Night. ‘Brightest Day’ is not a banner or a vague catch-all direction for the DC Universe,...

DC have been going crazy these past few months in making sure that their readers are all blinged out with Blackest Night rings. I know I sure gave into it all and got myself most 0f the rings! But DC are now annoucing that there are in fact 2 more rings on the way for us in April.
Both rings are being released to mark the start of a new series, and a special issue that are both going to bare a ‘Brightest Day’ banner, and are released on Feburary 14th. The Flash #1 (a new on-going we’re excited about)...
