It is that time of the month, when you pay your rent and your phone bill, but it is also the time to look back at some of the best covers from that past month. My favorite was Betrayal of the Planet of the Apes #3 by Gabriel Hardman
BATMAN AND ROBIN #5 - Cover by Patrick Gleason
There’s a devil on Robin’s shoulder – and his name is Nobody!
Batman and Robin’s relationship gets pushed to the breaking point as Nobody insinuates himself into Damian’s life and tries to make him see that Bruce’s plan to battle crime is...

Hi Everyone. Matt here, giving you the comic news of the week in this installment of The Impact.
Marvel Reveals The Mighty.
Originally teased back in early July, Marvel revealed the identities of the “The Mighty” who will make their first appearance in Fear Itself #7. This will be the final issue before the three issues that launch the 12 part miniseries that will launch the new “Shattered Heroes” status quo for the Marvel Universe. Now all sarcasm about Fear Itself”s length aside, I do kinda...

There is very little else from the landscape of American popular culture that serves as a direct emotional bridge to my childhood like Charles Schulz’s eternally beloved comic strip Peanuts and the classic animated specials inspired by it. As such, you can imagine my feeling as I turned onto West Steele Lane in picturesque Santa Rosa, California (an hour north of San Francisco) after a road trip of nearly 450 miles, to see the image of a contentedly skating Snoopy telling me I’ve arrived at the amazing Charles...

Back in 1987, I saw a film called Hellraiser. Sure, I was only 9 years old when saw it, but I knew it was going to have a special place in my heart. There were six more film based on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser and a few comics that I never got to read as they were coming out,but I got them in trade.
This week, thanks to Boom! Studios, we got an all new Hellraiser comic. Was this Horror/Comic fanboy happy with the new comic? Keep reading for more.
This first story line looks like is going to be about the daughter of...

As some of you know I have a background in graphic design and I was thinking it would be fun to use my design eye to give you an all new feature called best covers of the month. On the first day of the month I will be posting some of my favorite covers of the past month so let’s take a look back some of the best covers of January 2011. My favorite cover of January 2011 was The New York Five #1 by Brian Wood & Ryan Kelly.
Action Comics #897 - Cover by David Finch & Batt
The last place Lex Luthor expected...

This March, Hell comes to BOOM! Studios as master of horror Clive Barker writes the newest chilling installment of his signature creation with the newHELLRAISER ongoing series! Joined by co-writer Christopher Monfette and HELLBLAZER artist Leonardo Manco, Clive Barker’s HELLRAISER #1 features covers by Tim Bradstreet and Nick Percival. It’s another slow week for comics, it kinda bums me out to be honest. There is a good side to slow comic book weeks, it gives the opportunity to someone like myself to check out some books that I normally wouldn’t pick up. BOOM! Studios has this thing going with Stan (The Man) Lee where he’s been teaming up with other writers and artists on some brand spankin’ new comic book heroes. Honestly after Stripperella I’ve been pretty skeptical towards any of Stan Lee’s newer creations. Don’t...

December 9th, 2010 – Los Angeles, CA – It is with a heavy heart but also with great warmth and fondness that BOOM! Studios bids adieu to one of its own: effective immediately, Mark Waid is stepping down from the responsibility of Chief Creative Officer at BOOM! Studios. Waid will continue his run on IRREDEEMABLE and INCORRUPTIBLE and his brand new break-out hit collaboration with Stan Lee, THE TRAVELER.
“Mark was key in BOOM!’s transition from a promising upstart to top tier publisher,” Ross Richie, the...

When writing about a site of recent historical significance, recent enough that those who were present as witnesses or participants to important events held there are likely still alive, you are not going to be able to please everyone. The beyond legendary New York music club CBGB is one such locale whose cultural impact on the musical spectrum of the last 35 years is so great it could never be given due justice in print or on film no matter how good the effort may be.
This brings us to the newly collected four-issue CBGB comic...

So as you may have guessed from this article, I made it out of Comic Con 2010 alive… just barely though. You will all be happy to know that I have full site in both eyes! On top of all that I got a chance to interview one of my favorite writers from last year!! Nooo not Brubaker, but the one and only Hugo nominated Paul Cornell! You know and love him from Captain Britain and MI-13 as well as the Marvel MAX series Wisdom.
Check out the interview where we get to talk to him a bit about his new on-going series Knight and...

The Die Hard: Year One, Vol 1 hardcover is a fine example of how to make a trade. The cover from the first issue makes up the jacket, the hardcover and page quality are almost the same as what you might find in say Marvel Zombies(by way of example). The color quality is the same as the books, that sepia muted color, and the cover gallery is a thing to behold.
The icing on the cake? I didn’t even notice this, sister site editor Simon did, a little string bookmark that hangs down the center spine of the book. This...

Simply Fantastic.
That’s what I would be saying if Howard Chaykin would put just a little bit more action into this book. I really feel like this is a hardboiled detective series and I’m starting to like it. It’s so slow that it may turn people off, but the captions fit so nicely in parallel. It’s a strong narrative voice. If you aren’t reading this series, this may be a good place to jump on from.
John McClane recently ascended to NYPD detective status, a Sergeant to be exact. Together...

According to Boom Studios, Incorruptible #2 (Mark Waid, Jean Diaz) has completely sold out sending the superhero series into its 2nd printing. Incorruptible is the story of a supervillain named Max Damage and depicts his struggle to break free of the forces of evil holding onto him.
Fans should keep in mind, while Diamond Comic Distributors is completely sold out, first printings of Incorruptible #2 may still be found at your local comic shop. Comic Impact would like to remind you not to kill each other over them.
Diamond...

In a world where indie publishers are tightening their belts and delivering even less great small press content, Boom Studios goes out on a limb with a new Imprint. Boom! Town will be a new line of comics focused on more literary endeavors, so this is definitely exciting to those who coast the independent label racks.
According to Comics Alliance, among Boom! Town’s first projects will be a re-release of R. Crumb trading cards care of literary agent Dennis Kitchen, and Shannon Wheeler’s collection of rejected New...

It’s 7:16 AM on America’s birthday. A young John McClane, fresh out of ‘Nam strolls down his beat in a pressed blue uniform. The year is 1976, and John McClane is about to have his first very bad day. When you see the title, “Die Hard,” most of you think yippie ki yay mother fucker, some remember Sam Jackson, some of you younger ones may even remember McClane launch a car into a helicopter (I feel sorry for the young ones).
Whatever memories the title may invoke, Die Hard stands out as one of the finest action film...

Simon said he was getting an interview, and Matt said he was just shooting footage for the site, but I knew better.
No doubt, Lady Deadpool was foxy, but make sure you check out the other costumed crusaders from Long Beach.
When our impromptu shoot was over, we gathered our thoughts over pizza and planned our moves for the next day. Deciding that no time should be wasted, I grabbed the awesome Michael Alan Nelson for my very first video interview evar! (09, a year of firsts for me I guess).
Michael was so interesting. Here...

I would later be told that this was what a con should be.
I was sitting outside and waiting to hear from Simon, my contact within. It was Saturday morning and I was full of spunk, the purity that comes with the excitement of the unknown. Somewhere inside the Long Beach Convention Center were artists and writers that I’d have to interview, minds I’d have to get inside of, and I had no idea what to say to any of them.
When I was done skulking around the outskirts I decided to join the party. Coming down the escalator...

Join Sheldon and myself (Simon) as we talk to rising comics super star writer Mark Sable (Grounded, Cyborg, Two Face: Year One) about his new project from Boom! Studios, Unthinkable. The gist of the story is about a government think tank that brainstorms potential terrorist plots which are later carried out for reasons unknown.
We also discuss how the TSA (Transportation Security Administration) loves Mark and wants him to be their friend, one of the best films of all time, and how you can make money for playing Tetris on...

Here at Comic Impact we like to show what the staff is reading and discuss the newest shipment of comic books by posting the Comic Impact Pull List! This time Andy has the POW ( Pick of the week) and it looks like it’s going to be a busy week for him.
Will he give the honors to his DC favorite Tim Drake in Red Robin #1? or maybe it’ll be Uncanny X-Men #511 if his Phoenix hypothesis turns out to be true … or maybe something totally different. We don’t know because it’s only Monday and comics haven’t...
