Published on November 4th, 2011

Hey everyone! I’m Matt and I am here to give you all the news making its way around the comic blogosphere. Hope you all had a great Halloween and are enjoying all the awesome interviews Sheldon, Simon, and I got this past weekend at Long Beach Comic Con 2011.There was some very cool stuff announced this week so let’s get to it.  Sit back relax and enjoy this week’s installment of The Impact.

SPOILERS!!!! Marvel Announces Winter Soldier #1 by Ed Brubaker and Butch Guice February 2012.

If you read Fear Itself #7.1 you know that Bucky Barnes is not dead. He barely survived his battle with Sin and to save his life Nick Fury gave him the last dose of the Infinity formula. The issue ended with Bucky reclaiming the Winter Soldier identity and a teaser ad promising a new ongoing series by Ed Brubaker and Butch Guice with covers by Lee Bermejo.

On Thursday Marvel held one of it’s “Next Big Thing” Press Conferences. When talking about the book Brubaker described it as”This is me trying to create a book that is James Bond meets Splinter Cell in the Marvel Universe.” Bucky will be working from the shadows as Steve Rogers, Black Widow, and Nick Fury are the only ones who know he is alive, and Brubaker added, “We will see the psychological toll of Bucky having to keep his existence a secret, for sure.” Winter Soldier #1 hits stores February 2012.

marvelcomicsiphoneMarvel Comics Goes Completely Day and Date Digital… Almost.

Courtesy of Gizmodo. On Thursday Marvel announced that almost all of it’s books will be day and date digital. Marvel is not going to do what DC did where all books went day and date on the same day instead it will be staggering it’s day and date initiative to coincide with new story and jumping on points. By March 2012 all books will be available. The only books that will not be included are Marvel’s licensed properties like The Stand and it’s more adult MAX imprint. I am honestly surprised it took this long.

The Dark Knight Rises Teaser Attached to Sherlock Holmes 2???

Courtesy of MTV. Previously it was confirmed that we will be getting a 6 minute prologue to The Dark Knight Rises at theater showing Mission: Impossible- Ghost Protocol in 70 mm  IMAX. This week word starting spreading that we can expect a second teaser trailer with the release of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows. This makes sense Sherlock Holmes and M:I-GP IMAX are both released on the same week, December 16th and Sherlock Holmes is the biggest Warner Bros. release  of the holiday season. The Dark Knight Rises opens in theaters July 20th, 2012

Nicola Scott Joins George Perez on Superman for Three Issues.

Courtesy of The Source.  If you read the back matter in this week’s issue of Action Comics #3 you learned that Nicola Scott will be taking over penciling on Superman #3, #5, and #6. Like artist Jesus Merino, Scott will be using Perez’s layouts and boy is it a pretty collaboration. DC included some preview art and I think we can all agree it looks great. I am really happy to see not only a great artist, but one of the top woman artists in the biz working on Superman. Superman #3 hits stores November 23.

Well, there you go folks, that is all the news that’s fit to print. Hope everyone has a great weekend and stay tuned to Comic Impact as we bring you all the latest and greatest comic news.
