What you got under there? …Under where?
Ohhh such a naughty topic this week!! We’ll be talking about all the unmentionables superheroes use to keep their bits and pieces looking tight and right under all that spandex! Now, the needs of the boys are different from the needs of the girls. So fellas, I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never had to deal with your…particular needs, so I’m going to talk about the girls first, and then hand it over to Clyde Max to cover your needs!
But first ladies!!! Let us talk about underwear,...

Since the creation of superheroes in the late 1930’s, Hollywood has been more than aware of their marketing potential. From the old Superman, Batman and Captain America serials played at movie theaters in the 1940’s, to the George Reeves Superman and Adam West Batman TV shows, all the way to the comic book movie boom of the new millennium, superheroes have made quite an impact on the world of film and television.
Now, the big screen comic mistakes have been pretty obvious and hard to hide. But over the years,...

So, another week has come and gone and with it comes an all new POW, Pick of The Week podcast. You’ve found your way here, so you must be at least mildly curious as to what mysterious wonders are to be had on this week’s podcast. Why not take a load off and listen? It’d be a considerably wise decision.
This week, Ian has the pick and he’s joined by Ken and Simon. Our fearless comic-philes let you know exactly what to read and what to stay away from for the week of March 23rd. Ian picked Ultimate...

I don’t know about the rest of you, but one of the movies I’m really looking forward to this summer is Cowboys and Aliens. I just don’t want to wait for July 29th, it’s so far away! Fortunately for me, this movie happens to be based on a graphic novel also called Cowboys and Aliens. The book has been out of print for quite a while now, but the good folks at Platinum Studios have just re-released it so that we could all have the chance to read it before the movie comes out. So, let’s take this opportunity...

Did you read Thor 620.1? Did you see the amazing artwork by Mark Brooks in the book? Ever wanted to know how a comic page is put together using Photoshop? Well, check out this great video. The video is 9 hours of work condensed into 10 minutes. I know I have watched this video a few times already. I am still amazed how he did this page.
Brooks is best known for his covers and his pin up artwork and we’re also big fans of his here at ComicImpact. I know that staff member Ian has a print of Kitty Pryde’s return...

Finally! A point-one issue that really accomplished what it was supposed to. As you should all be aware of at this point, Marvel has been releasing these series of point-one issues, in this case Captain America 615.1, that are supposed to be a good jumping on point for new readers. I’ve felt that most of the point-one books haven’t been able to deliver on this. The majority of them have been released during the middle of a storyline that I think would do nothing more than confuse anyone trying pick up the series....

Back in 1987, I saw a film called Hellraiser. Sure, I was only 9 years old when saw it, but I knew it was going to have a special place in my heart. There were six more film based on Clive Barker’s Hellraiser and a few comics that I never got to read as they were coming out,but I got them in trade.
This week, thanks to Boom! Studios, we got an all new Hellraiser comic. Was this Horror/Comic fanboy happy with the new comic? Keep reading for more.

It’s always sad when a really great book is rife with scheduling delays. But, there are differing schools of thought on the matter. By allowing the creator/creators the time they need to craft their art, it ultimately yields a superior final product.
Written and drawn by David Finch, Batman: The Dark Knight #2 came out this week. Batman: The Dark Knight is a new book focusing on Bruce Wayne as Batman instead of Dick Grayson. Instead of the international tone that Batman Inc., the other book that features on Bruce,...

It is not often that we here at Comic Impact get advanced copies of comics but Daniel Freedman and Tom Coker have been nice enough to supply us with an advanced copy of their new Image comic Undying Love which comes out this week! The book itself looks to grow the vampire mythos into a bold new direction. So, this past week we got our first look at the new FF comic from creators Jonathan Hickman (Secret Warriors, The Nightly News) and artist Steve Epting (Captain America, The Marvels Project).
Our question for you,is all the hype around this book justified? And, is it something you know you’re going to keep on your pull list? I know it is only the first issue, but is it something that you know that you’re going to keep reading, or was just a let down? Or will you just wait until Fantastic Four#600 when Johnny...

When I was younger, there was a book called Excalibur and there was a characters named Brian Braddock. That young man also goes by the name of Captain Britain. A few years back, during the whole Secret Invasion stuff, Paul Cornell, with art by Leonard Kirk, made one of the best story lines around with Captain Britain and MI:13 and I was sad when that book got cancelled.

Even then, though, I was hesitant to pick up the title. That is until Jeff Parker and Kev Walker jumped on this book and made it a fast paced ride that you would be crazy to miss.

That said, today we’re going to take a look at some of the worst offenders in the crazed attempts that some creators have made for relevance and modern “hipness.”

Welcome back for this, the third and final article on the three issue indie/mainstream mash up Strange Tales II. To me the most unique aspect of this mini-series is in seeing alternative creators working with characters and situations completely opposite from what we have come to expect from them. The cover of ST II #3 is a supreme example of this in which Schizo creator Ivan Brunetti presents us with an adorable look at a superhero-centric health club, complete with aerobicizing X-Men and a pool-diving Daredevil.
Strange Tales...

The other day my friend calls me out of the blue to ask me if I wanted any Thor action figures based on the upcoming film. I say, “Hell yeah I do!”.I was thinking this would be great for a new Figure Friday and hell, I love action figures,so why not? What she got me was “Thor Sword Spike.”
I remember seeing a Thor figure back at San Diego Comic Con last year. Now, with the film coming out soon, it is time for the people over at Hasbro to show us what they can do with the god of thunder as we take a look...

After going home for a visit in the pages of Highland Laddie, Hughie has returned to The Boys in this latest issue. If you’ve never read an issue of this amazing comic from the mind of Garth Ennis, you’ve been missing out. In a world where superheroes are created and controlled by a massive corporation called Vought America Consolidated, The Boys is a group of individuals, funded by the CIA, that keep watch on the superheroes and keep them in line.
The issue starts with Hughie while he’s having a meeting with...

So far, the only look gotten of Hugo Weaving’s character, The Red Skull, from this summer’s Captain America: The First Avenger, is a quick flash during the the first Cap TV spot played during the Super Bowl.
Now, thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we get our first, official, clear look at the insidious, Nazi era villain.
Captain America: The First Avenger is scheduled for release on July 22, 2011.

Oh, man! Finally, it’s time for another POW, Pick Of the Week Podcast! I know you couldn’t hold your anticipation much longer, and you’re a real trooper for toughing it out. Good job!
Ian has the pick this week and he went with Amazing Spider-Man #655. Unfortunately, Simon, Ken and Sheldon couldn’t disagree more. The podcast reaches riotous proportions as the group lets Ian know what a dumbass he is for such an irresponsible pick. He may be fired. Simon also starts to realize that he’s...

I thought that after last week’s Trade Tuesday, which featured Daytripper, it might be appropriate to feature a book that’s a little bit more lighthearted. What better book than everyone’s favorite book based on an animated television show about life in the year 3000, or so? I’m talking about Futurama, of course. That’s right, Bongo Comics doesn’t just do The Simpsons, it’s also been doing the Futurama comic book since before the show was canceled. Written by Ian Boothby, with pencils...

Last month, we here at ComicImpact.com started a new feature called Best Comics Book Covers Of The Month. On the first day of the month I will be posting some of my favorite covers of the past month, so let’s take a look back at some of the best covers of February, 2011.
My favorite cover of the month was Brightest Day #20. I don’t read this book in individual issues, but I’m going to pick up the hardcover. But, I love this cover! It is some of the best David Finch artwork I have seen in a long time.
The...

Did you read part 1 of Age of X and now you can’t wait for part 2? Well, don’t worry because Age of X continues with New Mutants #22 which also came out the same day as part 1 (along with every other X-Men book). So, let’s take a look at this action packed story written by Mike Carey with art by Steve Kurth.
Picking up where part 1 left off, we join Legacy (Rogue) trying to get permission from Magneto to speak with Kitty Pryde about what she was doing outside the walls of Fortress X. Legacy believes that Kitty...

In my last review I mentioned how Image Comics usually puts out a good product. I’m not sure I can say that about The Mission.
The first issue begins in Chicago with our protagonist, Paul Haskell, at his doctor receiving his annual physical. Enter the mysterious, old soothsayer named Gabriel (who prefers to be called Gabe) who confronts Paul in the dark parking structure of the doctor’s office. Gabe tells Haskell that he’s been chosen for a mission and he plays a part in the war between good and evil. Paul...

Boy howdy, do we have an amazing treat in store for you this week! Not only do you get your normal dose of the dulcet sounds and sexy looks of Ken and Ian, but this week they’re joined by Comic Impact’s Cosplay Girl of 2010, Kit Quinn and Comic Impact’s Cosplay Girl of November, 2010, Tally Smith!
Kit and Tally watch in horror as Ian and Ken compete in a thrilling game of beer pong to see which girl reads the next headline! This is the stuff of poem and song, my friend! Don’t miss your chance to...
