With X-Men #7 we finally have something I’ve been wanting since Second Coming came to an end, an X-Men book that’s fun to read. Curse of the Mutants was boring, Uncanny X-Men has been lacking, and X-Men Legacy hasn’t been what it should be either. It just seems like nobody has been able to figure out what to do with the X-Men in a long time. I really haven’t liked how far Cyclops has taken the team from Xavier’s dream of coexistence, but this book is taking things back to basics which is just fine...

When Marvel’s 2009 indie-comics superstars meets time-tested superheroes mini-series Strange Tales was released it seemed almost too good to be true. This highly unique assemblage of oddities was so pleasingly originally and off the typical spandex path that a follow up seemed implausible at best. Happily, fans of the publisher didn’t mind seeing their favorite heroes taking a good natured (and overdue) ribbing and the series was a surprise hit. Now we have the three issue mini-series Strange Tales II and the hit versus miss...

After months of speculation following the announcement of plans for a Superman reboot, Warner Bros. revealed today who will be donning the iconic blue and red costume in director Zack Snyder’s upcoming film.
Playing the titular role in Superman shall be Henry Cavill, who has also appeared in Showtime’s The Tudors. The film is a reboot, which will be taking Superman back to his origins, that has been masterminded by the Christopher Nolan and David Goyer, the creative team behind Batman Begins and The Dark Knight.

With all this talk about the new Spider-Man costume in the upcoming film starring Andrew Garfield. I was thinking we could go back to Marvel’s Civil War where we first saw the Iron Spider-Man and take a look at one of the most talked about costumes in Spider-Man history. Love it or hate it Hasbro has made it part of their Marvel Universe toy line. Myself I am 50/50 when it comes to this costume for Spidey. I love it and hate it the same time.

If you pay any attention to our humble little site, you know that most of us (except Sheldon) absolutely love Image Comics’ Chew.
Chew is written by John Layman with fantastic art by Rob Guillory. In Chew, because of a horrible bird flu pandemic, a prohibition is placed against all poultry products and the FDA has become the single strongest branch of the United States government, much like the CIA. Tony Chu is an FDA agent with a strange psychic ability (called cibopathic), he gets a psychic impression from everything...

Warning! This review WILL spoil the ending of this comic book.
This week was absolutely epic for comics, I personally walked out of my local comic shop with about thirty books (Don’t judge me). You know what the first book I read was? Fantastic Four #587. Was this book worth all the hype it got? In my opinion, absolutely not. I’m a huge fan of the FF, it was one of the first books I started reading on a regular basis and by the time I was done reading this I don’t think that I could have been more pissed off....

It’s okay everyone! The “Deadpool vs. Vampires” story arc is over! You can all come out now, because with the end of “Deadpool vs. Vampires” comes…DEADPOOL IN SPACE!!!!!! Excited? Of course you are!
Deadpool #32 is written by Daniel Way with art by Sheldon Vella. This issue is a stand alone story designed to pull Deadpool away from the past two issues which were a tie-in to the “Curse of The Mutants” story arc in X-Men, and to take Deadpool in a new direction.

Imagine you have a secret cabal with some of your colleagues where you each vow to protect a mystical power source capable of remaking the universe. Now, imagine you accidentally allowed a couple pieces of that power source, still remarkably powerful individually, to fall into the hands of, basically, a power crazed member of the cast of The Jersey Shore. Feeling a bit awkward? Well, that’s exactly what Iron Man/Tony Stark is dealing with in The Avengers #9.

Hey all, Kit here with your monthly Cosplay Girl of the Month post!
To start this whole adventure out I figured I should try to set some things straight. Specifically, what the heck this cosplay thing is, and what it means! Now as those who are in the cosplay community know, trying to set parameters or rules that must be met for a person to be defined as a cosplayer is impossible (and slightly dangerous.) But here it is as I see it.
So Cosplay, where the heck did that word come from? Well it’s a mash up of costume play. Which...

We all have different viewpoints and tastes in comics here at ComicImpact, but we are all fans of the X-Men and the past week we have been talking a lot of shit about one of our favorite teams here with the stuff coming out for the upcoming film: X-Men First Class.
So I wanted to find a post that would be a little bit lighter on mutant kind. So I found this super cool paper toy design of some of your favorite X-Men in their costumes. Such as Cyclops, Emma Frost, Beast (Sorry Ken and Ian), Kitty Pride, Lockheed, Colossus and Wolverine.

The Invincible Ironman #500 whew…where to start. Fraction has put Tony Stark through the ringer since he first started this book and he shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. We have seen Tony go from the head of S.H.I.E.L.D. all the way to a life less brainless shell of a man in this run. In issue 500 there is no signs of slowing down as Fraction along with longtime collaborating artist Salvador Larroca take us to the distant future where we actually see the death of Tony Stark and the life of his children! The fourth and final trade of The Astounding Wolf-Man which collects issues 19 through 25 of the series has finally hit shelves after months of me waiting impatiently for it. I’m really disappointed that this book has ended, Robert Kirkman and Jason Howard have done an astounding (pun intended) job on this book and twenty-five issues just isn’t enough for me. I partially blame myself for this book ending because I only read it in trades, but I can’t change the past… yet.

First off, let me start off this review by saying that I have never been a die-hard Superman fan and I think that J. Michael Stracynski is one of the most overrated people in the history of comics. Although I do enjoy a good Superman story line. So far JMS’s “Walking with Kal” aka “Grounded” story line has been very hit or miss for me. Welcome back for the second and final installment of my look at some of the best of last year’s releases. Let’s not mince words and get right to it, shall we?
Xenozoic by Mark Schultz (Flesk Publications)
The most astounding collection of comic tales in 2010 was, hands down, Xenozoic by five time Harvey award winner and two time Eisner winner Mark Schultz.

Looking for a great comic book read that almost no one else picked up, leading to it’s ultimate demise? Well, one of the most underrated series’ to come out of Marvel Comics has to be Agents of Atlas.
Created by Jeff Parker, Agents of Atlas is really a unique, interesting idea. It takes a group of old Marvel (technically Atlas Comics…get it?) characters from the 1940’s and 50’s and creates a new history for them. Instead of being lone characters, Parker tells the story of how FBI agent Jimmy...

It was a good episode, he was voiced by the brother in Everybody Loves Raymond (on a side note, I don’t love Raymond). I like this book because it’s been mostly separate from the other X-Books unless they do something as big as Messiah Complex, I think it’s cool to have a team of mutants that aren’t obsessing about the extinction of the species.

15+ Years of Mishandling Superman, or, “Don’t wanna see him in the suit…looks too faggy.”
If you’re a fan of any form of graphic storytelling, whether it be dark horror comics, contemplative indie books or your mainstream superhero stuff, you owe a debt of gratitude to one character. He’s the first superhero, the one that started it all, the one for whom the industry was built upon, Superman. Unfortunately, though, for the past nearly two decades he has been mishandled, mistreated and forced...

First off S.H.I.E.L.D. does for me personally what Assassin’s Creed does for video games. In that it allows the reader the chance to experience a secret history that we have never seen or read about thus turning what we think we know about history on it’s ear thus making it new and exciting. Written by Jonathan Hickman with art by Dustin Weaver this book continues to explore Marvels true history and how it has effected both the world and the way we view it. Read on to see if History needed to be rewritten.
So far in...

Whenever you think of super heroes or comic books in general there’s always the same characters that initially come to mind: Superman, Spider-Man, Batman, The Hulk, etc. While he may not be in the top five superheroes of all time, he definitely belongs in the top ten, of course I am referring to The Flash. He’s just as iconic as any of the other super heroes I mentioned, but he just doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. There’s been talk for years about making a Flash movie, but it never seems to happen,...

It’s been delayed for weeks, but Batman: The Dark Knight #1 finally came out last week!
Both written and pencilled by David Finch with inks by Scott Williams, Batman: The Dark Knight is the last of the new Batman books since Bruce Wayne’s return a couple months ago. Remember when the last issue of The Avengers came out and The Red Hulk got the crap kicked out of him when he went up against The Hood after he got a hold of a couple gems from the Infinity Gauntlet? That was cool. So cool that it made me super excited for this new issue, and it did not disappoint. So let’s get to the avenging!
The book starts off with Iron Man hanging around one of his old warehouses waiting for the rest of the members of The Illuminati, but there’s a problem. The Illuminati kind of disbanded so...
