SDCC 2010: Exclusives
It’s that time of the year when people are looking at their bank accounts, thinking to themselves “hmmmmmm what exclusives do I need to get at San Diego Comic Con this year?” We are here to help you out. No we are not going to give you a bailout, but we can tell you some of the exclusives that you may see at Comic Con in just a few days from now.
Variant Covers
I know I have talked about it before, I am not a big fan of variant covers but it is always a part of any convention to have variant covers form all your favorite publishers. This year Diamond Select has some great variant covers such as Super Soldier and Walking Dead, limited to 3000 copies each for $3.99 and Doctor Solar and True Blood at 2000 copies and $3.99. Oh and it does not stop there my ComicImpact readers.
Arcana’s The Citizens #1 Variant cover, limited to 250, Aspen’s Fathom: Blue Descent #1 Variant The Scourge #0 Variant both $5 and limited to 500, Bongo Comics’ Comic Book Guy #1/Futurama Comics #50, signed by Matt Groening, limited to 200 for $10
The good people over at Boom Studio are joining up with Disney to give you a blank cover of Toy Story, Cars and Muppet Show editions, they are limited to 500 each and cost $20. This is a great way to get your favorite artist to make your very own exclusive cover.
Yes for all you Johnny Depp fan girls and boys you can now get your very own variant cover of the Alice In Wonderland graphic novel, for $40, limited to 500.
Also from Boom Studio we get variant editions of Irredeemable #15, Incorruptible #8, Uncle Scrooge #392, Darkwing Duck #1, Muppet Show #7 and The Armory Wars: In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth #1, all $10 limited to 500.
Avatar Press has Alan Moore’s Neonomicon #1 Jacen Burrows variant cover, as it makes it’s San Diego debut. Limited to 1500 copies at $4. Since Alan Moore is one of my favorite authors I will try to get myself a copy of this book. if I do maybe there will be a review on the site.
The people over at Zenescope also have a lot of variant covers for all you Zenescope fans.
- Grimm Fairy Tales #49 SDCC Football exclusive featuring Belinda – limited to 500 copies
- Grimm Fairy Tales #49 SDCC Football Exclusive featuring Sela – limited to 250 copies
- Neverland #4 SDCC Zoo Exclusive featuring Tiger Lilly – limited to 500 copies
- Grimm Fairy Tales Swimsuit Edition #1 SDCC Beach Shower Exclusive – limited to 500 copies
- Charmed #1 SDCC Photo Cover Exclusive – limited to 500 copies
Titan Books have an Ian Churchill variant cover for Torchwood #0, an issue that you will be able to get signed by star, comic writer and Captain Jack Harkness himself, John Barrowman.
My favorite variant is the Chew 12 with Poyo on the cover. Limited to 350 copies. Also, if you’re a fan of Chew, you don’t want to miss out on CHEW: THE OMNIVORE EDITION, which won’t be in stores until August 11, 2010. Or if you have never read, but always hear about it, than you need to get this hardcover.
I am sure there will be more variants before I am done posting this blog so make sure you check out your favorite comic publishers booth when you are at Comic-Con.
Statues
Oh you know you want to know all about the sideshow San Diego Comic Con 2010 exclusives. I hope you sold your first born. Because this stuff is very expensive.
Sideshow and Star Wars have always worked together and this time we get Star Wars Clone Lieutenant figure limited to 1000 for $89.99.
For all you fans of Predators, how about a Guardian Predator for $184.99? There is also a Skrull Spider-Woman bust limited to 150 for $199.99. I love secret invasion but I think the Skrull Spider-Woman is a few years to late, still it’s a kick ass bust.
There is an Iron Man 2 bust ($69.99) that I would want but he’s missing his arms. I hate busts that are missing arms, so I am going to skip on it. It is still a very cool bust.
There is also a mouser from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ( I use to love those guys) I am not sure what that will run you. That’s all for Sideshow.
Now moving on to Gentle Giant they have some great busts. Sure they are not comic book busts. Original Concept Darth Vader busts from Ralph McQuarrie’s design will run you $75.00 and it is limited to 1000. They also have an oversize Star Wars articulated original-style Stormtrooper figure that is limited to 1,500 for $85.00
That is just a few of the statues that you will see at Comic-Con this year.
Toys
Oh yeah, this my favorite part of any San Diego Comic-Con, the toy exclusives. I am not going to post all of them but I will post the top ones. If I had to post all them, it would take for ever to read and the con is just a few days from now.
Mattel
This special pack commemorates the 75th anniversary of DC Comics. The Starro pack re-creates one of the most famous DC covers of all time, the cover of Brave and the Bold Issue #28, the first appearance of the Justice League and Starrothe Conqueror. It comes with all five JLA members featured on the cover as highly articulated figures in the same scale as Infinite Heroes. Includes Martian Manhunter, The Flash withadded articulation, Wonder Woman (all new), Green Lantern (with construct), Aquaman (all new), and giant, bendy Starro. The box features lights and sounds with the voice of Kevin Conroy, TV’s animated Batman, describing the characters and events seen on the cover.
If you have been reading Figure Friday here at ComicImpact you know that I love the DC Universe. At this year’s Comic-Con the DC Universe Exclusive is the one and only Plastic Man. This Plastic Man Suitcase is packed in a poly bag and comes free when you purchase DCU Plastic Man at SDCC (available only while supplies last). You can attach his arms, head, and neck to the suitcase as if he has disguised himself as a suitcase. Open up the suitcase and find chip art comic book covers from the 75 years of DC Comics. Looks like he’s been doing some shopping while at SDCC! The Suitcase will not be sold online after the show so if you miss out on Plastic Man you can always order him on line. At the Con he will run you $20.00. I am not sure what the price will be after Comic-Con.
DC Direct/Graphitti Designs
The first from DC Direct/Graphitti Designs 2010 SDCC Exclusives is The Batman Arkham Asylum: Battle Damaged Batman based on the hit video game and also the first figure in the new Arkham Asylum toys. The rest of the figures will be available in 2011 from DC Direct.
This exclusive “battle-damaged” version of the Dark Knight figure measures approx. 7″ in height with multiple points of articulation, he also comes complete with removable base. He will run you $20.00 and there limited to 4,000.
The next one is White Lantern: Sinestro we first saw this guy at Wonder Con back in April of this year. The brightest day can’t be too far away when a traditional GL villain is wearing cool new duds as seen on this exclusive Sinestro Action Figure. Measures approx. 6/5″ high, Sinestro features multiple points of articulation and includes a removable display base. Packaged in a unique clamshell presentation package that also includes a wearable White Lantern power ring. He will run you $20.00 and they are limited to 2,000.
If you have a White Lantern Sinestro then why not get the Black Lantern Hal Jordan The greatest Lantern of them all succumbs to the power of death on this exclusive Hal Jordan Action Figure. Standing tall at approx. 6/5″ high, Hal features multiple points of articulation and includes a removable display base. Packaged in a unique clamshell presentation package that also includes a wearable Black Lantern power ring. He will run you $20.00 and they are limited to 2,000.
Hasbro
Now the big one, I am not joking around here, I have been dreaming of this one every night since last years Comic-Con. Do you remember when I posted about the new figures from Hasbro at last year’s Comic-Con? do you remember what I was in love with? That’s right, the monster that is 19″ Galactus figure.
Unlike the regular version of Galactus that will come with a Silver Suffer figure and be packaged in a window-box type packaging, the Comic-Con version will be released on a 27″ tall blister card like you would see for regular 3.75″ Marvel Universe figures. The card art will be by Marvel’s own Editor-In-Chief, Joe Quesada. Though the figure is packaged on an actual card back it does appear there will also be a special outer packaging as well. Cost $59.99
This is the wet dream of Marvel Universe 3.75 figures fanboy like my self and ComicImpact Staff member Sheldon.
I am not a big fan of Thor but there is something sexy about this Comic-Con exclusive figure. Hasbro is offering fans at Comic-Con International the opportunity to purchase it’s special edition MARVEL UNIVERSE 3.75” THOR FIGURE, which is designed in the styling of Marvel’s highly popular Thor: Ages of Thunder comics series. The figure includes THOR’S legendary hammer and features special edition packaging adorned with artwork by Joe Quesada, Marvel Comics’ editor-in-chief. This figure will run you $9.99 not bad since figures at Toy R us are around $6.99.
For all you Captain America fans, Hasbro is excited to introduce it’s special edition MARVEL UNIVERSE 3.75” CAPTAIN AMERICA FIGURE! This classic CAPTAIN AMERICA figure is styled in the character’s World War II gear, complete with a removable helmet and triangular, badge-shaped shield. The figure’s packaging features artwork by Joe Quesada, Marvel Comics’ editor-in-chief.

There will be a Spider-Man Hasbro special edition 3.75” Spider-Man figure to fans at Comic-Con International! This is the first time the “Spider-Man” movie franchise styling will be featured in the 3.75-inch scale. (Approximate Retail Price: $9.99)
Shocker Toys
Do you remember when we talked to Bill Roshia, form Shocker Toys, at Wizard World a few month back. They are going to be at this year’s Comic Con. How would you like (The Tick), The Blank (Dick Tracy) and Dan Garret (The Blue Beetle)? All are 6” fully articulated action figures and all are limited piece runs.
So there you go, a lot of GREAT exclusives at this years Comic Con and this only a hand full of stuff you can find. I know I am still going to be running to the t-shirt booth to get my Comic Con 2010 shirt. That is one exclusive that I never miss out on.
We’ll see you all at the con and have fun.

As I’m not going this year, I’m not buying anything, unless one of my many friends in the business or in the press wouldn’t mind picking up an item or two for me.
