Figure Friday: Marvel Universe Luke Gage

Published on June 4th, 2010

Package Description

It’s been a long time since LUKE CAGE went by the name Power Man, and a lot has changed. He’s gone from being an independent operator, making money with his powers, to a leadership role in the AVENGERS. There was a time when his bulletproof skin and super strength made him impulsive and short-tempered, but his recent responsibilities force him to think of others first before he acts.

Appearance

Looking at this figure you can tell he is a bad ass mother fucker,  the way I have always read Luke Cage. Hasbro did a great job on his jeans, it’s where my eyes went right away. I love the textures they use on it to make them feel like old pair of Levi’s Jeans. I’m sure they’ve reused the Blade face from series 4  without his vampire teeth. The figure looks like its been hitting the GYM 7 days week. We can see that his upper body is focused on muscles. He comes with  gold chains with the word CAGE on it. Feel more like something that Mr. T would have in the A-Team back in the 1980’s. He also comes with a beanie, trying to make urban Luke Cage. The black paint job on his tank top is not that great, feels like they did not use the right size brush when there where airbrushing  it. He also has oversized hips.

Posability

Like a lot of this Marvel Universe he  has ball style shoulders, swivel biceps, hinge elbows, swivel wrists, a ball style chest, swivel waist, ball hips, double hinged knees and hinge/swivel ankles.  He comes with a piece of Iron, which looks like a piece of bacon,  he has a hard time holding in his right hand.  He  has a lot of dynamic poses if you’re looking for great range of movement. I don’t feel like this figure is going to break on me if I was playing with it for a long time.

Final Score 7/10

This a good figure, not great but it looks like Hasbro has taken the time make a bad ass Luke Cage. There is a Variant out there of this figure but it’s just different colors. I wish they would make an old school Power Man figure then I can put next to my Iron Fist.
