Air gets cancelled

It is a sad day here, as one of my favourite comics of all time is now getting cancelled. G Willow Wilson and M.K. Perker will end ‘Ai’r with Issue 24. Wilson had this to say about the news on Twitter.
“For those who are asking: AIR will end exactly where I planned, only a little sooner than I planned it. I had lots of advance warning.”

Sure the book is about the airline industry, countries that shouldn’t exist and international groups with their varied agendas and teleportation. For me it was the most important comic around. It took place in the post 9-11 paranoia world.

It’s sad to see another great Vertigo series go away. Air is a wild ride in the world of conspiracies. Ever wonder what the big oil companies are doing in conjunction with airlines?  Ever want to know more about the great Aztec secret societies?

If you have not read Air you will have your chance soon, as the series will be fully collected in trade paper backs. Air was nominated for the 2009 Eisner Award for ‘Best New Series’.

I will miss you Blythe.
