For those of you who enjoyed Blackest Night for the most part, and especially enjoyed seeing Lex Luthor as an Orange Lantern alongside Larfleeze, then you’re going to be one of the lucky people whose day I may well just make with this piece of news.
It has been announced that British writer Paul Cornell (Captain Britain & MI13, Dr. Who) is set to start work over at DC Comics, on ‘Action Comics’. He will be working alongside artist Pete Woods (World of New Krypton) for this story as well. We can expect his run to start in July with Action Comics #891.
Cornell has stated that his first run on the title, will not involve Superman, but that it will in fact be focused around Supes’ arch enemy, Lex Luthor. An interesting idea I’d say.
In Blackest Night, Paul has said, Luthor became an Orange Lantern, and became obsessed with the power it gave him. Now that Blackest Night is all finished, Luthor cannot get rid of the feeling of absolute power that being an Orange Lantern gave him, and guess what.. he wants that power back.
It sounds like a bloody interesting story arc if you ask me, and I trust Paul Cornell as a decent writer of good comics. So for all you fans of a unique, well written story, I personally would say that given the concept as well, this story-arc seems like it could be one heck of a good read. But all will be revealed. Plus, with a cover for the first issue by new (but professional) artist at DC, David Finch, you know you’re going to want to pick this up!
You can pick up Action Comics #891 on July 28th this year. So you’ve got a fairly long wait, but it sounds like it might be worth it!
