In last week’s Figure Friday, we talked with Bill Roshia from Shocker Toys. This week, we are going to take a look at Katchoo from Terry Moore’s ‘Stranger in Paradise’ series. If you have never read ‘Stranger in Paradise’, then in my opinion you’re missing out on one of the best indie comic books of all time, and one of the best of Shocker Toys Indie Spotlight figures line.

If you enjoyed the sneak peek of Avengers #1 earlier on this week, then hopefully you’ll equally enjoy this preview of Secret Avengers #1. This is Ed Brubaker and Mike Deodato’s latest comic, set for release on May 26th this year.
So in the pages we’ve been teased with, it looks like we’re seeing Valkyrie and Black Widow going undercover, for what I may as well assume at this point, to give this very naughty man the shock of his life. Instead of getting drunk with these fine ladies and having a bit of...

If you’re one of the people who reads the Marvel Solicitations each time they are published, unlike myself, then you may have noticed that for the months of May onwards, there are no entries for the Nova or Guardians of the Galaxy series.
This is because those two series (of which the most recent issues of both, I reviewed ) are going on hiatus while ‘The Thanos Imperative’ takes the main stage for 6 months. I got in contact with Dan Abnett a few days ago, and he told me that Nova would definatly be tieing in...

This is becoming less unordinary these days by simply going to your local comic shop you can find one of these handy dandy stamps on the cover of your favorite book and more then likely the next hit movie. You know the stamp I mean. The one that reads now a major motion picture. As of the last few years we have seen some unlikely titles like Wanted,Hellboy,Kick Ass,Watchmen,300,and now the recently announced Incognito. I am sure before I’ve even finished writing this article they will announce another new title coming!...

While at Wizard World Anaheim I found this great book Going Boldly by TJ Sullivan. The book is a condensed version of the weekly web comic about Tim Desoto, a mission patch designer for the space program. He is friends with an ego maniac astronaut, Danger “Roc” Strong and has an official space program assigned Gremlin named Ed. Just with that I was so intrigued and very much NOT let down.
I think the greatest thing about this concept is as strange as it sounds it works so well. Ed, is hilarious, the form to all the...

The Jonah Hex trailer finally hits the net. I have never read any Jonah Hex comic books, but I know there are no supernatural elements to the story. I don’t know why this looks like bad horror, if I want that fix, then I can watch master of horror. I know all you fanboys are going to be saying how hot Megan Fox is, but I am sure I can find a better looking woman on some bad porn site. Plus, she can’t act to save her life.
This film looks as bad as Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman, and we all know how bad...

Having missed out on the Pick Of The Week podcast this week due to technical difficulties, I have taken the liberty of writing a review of two comics that came out on the week just gone of April 21st. These two comics are closely linked in many ways, more so at this precise moment in their continuity, than ever before. These are also the two comics that very rarely fail to leave me entertained, and utterly ‘star‘-struck whenever I read a new issue, and put quite simply, the issues released this week were no exception...

At the retailer’s summit occurring in Chicago before C2E2 last weekend, Diamond Comics, distributor of weekly comic book issues, floated the idea of moving the release day for comic books to Tuesday, with the comic book retailers paying 5 dollars a week more. They put the idea to a show of hands vote to the retailers in the audience, and Tuesday releases narrowly won out. Now it sounds as if this is all speculation and discussion amongst Diamond.
Why do they want to make comics come out on Tuesdays? Because of Hollywood....

Marvel have released a sneak peek preview at what will probably be their biggest release of the entire year. That’s right, it’s a first look at Avengers #1, set for release Wednesday 19th May this year. Brian Michael Bendis is set to write the series, and as I’m sure you were aware, John Romita Jr is set to illustrate this hopefully ‘epic’ series.
Marvel have been a bit naughty though. Usually when they give us a sneak peek look at an upcoming comic, we get given about 4 or 5 wordless pages of interior...

How much will you pay for your Marvel comics? A lot of Marvel’s readers will have to be asking themselves this question over the next few months, and take into serious consideration what titles they are reading, and how much they are willing to spend. Because it has been revealed that this July, a number of 70 Marvel Comics, will be priced at $3.99 (that is 68% of Marvel’s comics on sale).
'Avengers' will be an expensive read for some fans

Last weekend gave us the inaugural edition of the Wizard World Anaheim Comic Con and although I had fun I have mixed feelings about the event to say the least. Sure we have the cosplay girl of the month here at ComicImpact, but back in 1985, Marvel comics had something called the Marvel Hunk of the Month in the back of their books. I found this as I was looking at a back issue of Uncanny X-Men #189. It looks like Marvel’s Hunk of the Month was Mr. Kick Ass himself, John Romita Jr.

I’ve made no secret of my opinion about the typical comics being released from BlueWater Comics. They generally cash in on poorly put together comics about celebrities and while I can’t fault them for trying to capitalize on fan purchasing, I wish that their comics were better quality. They have a great opportunity to get people who are not comic fans into shops and introduce them to the medium, but the products they are putting out are more likely to act as a warning that comics are cheesy and filled with bad art. Geoff Johns’ The Flash Secret Files:Origins 2010is a great read for fans new to The Flash. There is a short story giving you a glimpse into Barry Allen’s childhood. I love Jim Lee so much, I have a Jim Lee’s ‘Hush’ Batman tattoo on my shoulder, and I love Apple. I don’t even like looking at a PC, as I feel sick when I do.
So when I first heard about this story imagine how happy I was. Mr co-publisher of DC Comics himself, Jim Lee, posted these tweets.

Are you going to the San Diego Comic Con this year? Well I hope you were not planning on staying at the Hyatt. They don’t want any San Diego Comic Con attendees.

This past weekend I was in Las Vegas for a wedding. I was walking around the Planet Hollywood Casino and I saw something that caught my eye, a Kick-Ass sweater. I told my self ” wow that’s kind of cool. If is under $50.00 I will buy it since I love the book and I am a Mark Millar and John Romita Jr fan and I know that film is going to kick ass since I saw a screener back in August of last year. ” Yeah that’s how my brain works sometime .
I look at the tag and I saw $98.99 or something like that....

When The Marat/Sade Journals, Barron Storey’s astounding first published foray into the sequential art medium, was released in 1993 he had already earned much success and acclaim in the worlds of illustration and fine art. Recipient of the Society of Illustrators’ Gold Medal award in 1976 for his portrait of German songstress Lotte Lenya, Storey also has ten works (completed as Time magazine covers) in the permanent collection of the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery. Of these the most famous is perhaps...
