New Power Girl Creative Team

pgl_cv13The other day on the POW podcast, I was talking about the news that made me a sad DC Fan-boy.  Amanda Conner, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Justin Gray would be leaving Power Girl with issue #12.  I was a bit mad at this news since I love the work they’ve been doing for the past 12 issues.

Well now we know who is going to take over this book, and it looks like the new team for Power Girl is going to be writer Judd Winick and artist Sami Basri.  Also, it’s just as I was thinking, they are going to make her part of some kind of Justice League book. Part of the fun of the Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Amanda Conner team, was that it was self-contained, and altogether untied to other JSA or Blackest Night books. It was a fun book to read and beautiful to look at, what can I say I am a fanboy when it comes to Amanda Conner’s work.

Power Girl will cross over into another Winick book ‘Justice League: Generation Lost’. Winick has this to say about the book

“It is with GREAT fear and excitement that Sami and I leap into this gig. Jimmy Palmiotti, Justin Gray, and Amanda Conner havebought an amazing, fresh, and inventive rebirth to this character. Our greatest challenge will be to remain faithful to what they’ve created and also take Power Girl to a new place. As far as the course that the story will take, I’ll be uncharacteristically forthcoming : The story is tied to JUSTICE LEAGUE: GENERATION LOST. Not CHAINED to it, but tied. Power Girl has a history with the JLA that will be explored. A lot.”

Oh, and who the hell is Sami Basri? By looking at his deviantart page, I can see why he would maybe work for a book like this, but I am still not loving the idea for this new team. Dana and I where lucky enough to talk to Amanda last year at the Long Beach Comic Con, about her love of Power Girl. I am not sure if I am going to keep reading this book at this point.
