Casting News: Captain America

Published on March 22nd, 2010

captain_america2Seeing as our resident Captain America fan boy *cough Sheldon cough* is too busy to write about this I will let you all know, Marvel has found it’s First Avenger. Drum roll please………………………….Chris Evans aka, Johnny Storm, Lucas Lee (Scott Pilgrim), Jensen (Losers) is Steve Rogers.  Evans, is in for a big ride with this NINE picture deal including two Captain America, two Avengers and Iron Man 3.  I personally am not completely hating him for the role but I didn’t see him as Steve.  I am hoping that he brings it and does the New York, super soldier justice. Perhaps this will be the role that I see him as more than  pretty boy who isn’t a bad actor. He is definitely a better choice than a lot of the names being tossed around.

That list included John Krasinski (The Office), Scott Porter (Speed Racer, Friday Night Lights, Caprica), Mike Vogel (She’s Out of My League, Cloverfield) Michael Cassidy (Smallville) and Patrick Flueger (Brothers, The 4400), Chace Crawford (Gossip Girl) and Garret Hedlund (Tron Legacy). The list narrowed down to Mike Vogel (Cloverfield) and Garrett Hedlund (Tron: Legacy), Wilson Bethel (Generation Kill). Ryan Phillippe (The Way of the Gun, Cruel Intentions) and Channing Tatum (GI Joe: Rise of Cobra).

Shooting is scheduled to start at the end of June in The UK. Keep your eye out for a teaser poster at ComicCon this summer.
