Well here it is the end of March and the beginning of April and the summer movie buzz is already starting to build. As you may know from reading a few of our articles we are all big fan’s of Shell head and he has a certain movie coming out in May! You may also remember that last year at San Diego Comic Con Simon and Myself were asked to join Stark Industries…..or at least we applied to but unfortunately we had heard nothing back.
UNTIL TODAY!!!! Officially the Stark Expo 2010 web site is up and running! Which mean’s...

This week on the Comic Impact POW podcast we were one man, or should I say one Time Lord, down. Rob, fondly referred to as 11 was missing because he was busy hanging off the TARDIS
Never worry because Sheldon, Simon and Dana picked up the slack for the good Doctor, talking about all the biggest comics of the week! Sheldon preached the Gospel of Captain America #604 and told us all about the latest stories in “the book”, Simon, who had the pick, SHOCKED THE WORLD, by not picking the return of Kitty Pryde in Uncanny...

If you listen to any of the Pick of the Week podcasts, you know I am a big fan of Sweet Tooth and Jeff Lemire. My friend a few years back got me into his Complete Essex County Trilogy. Now thanks to the magic of Lemire’s twitter account we now get a sneak peek at a future project .
Lemire had this on his twitter account on Sunday night:
“I’ve never shown anyone this except @chrisstaros, but this is a graphic novel projectI’ve been working on for about two years. Not sure when it will be done, but definitely not in 2009!...

Do you enjoy great science fiction stories? Then why are you not reading Richard Starkings’ ELEPHANTMEN? It is the best comic book that you have been missing out on. Are you a fan of Philip K. Dick’s Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
( aka Blade Runner )for all you film fans or Pierre Boulle’s novel Planet of the Apes? Then this is a book you NEED TO READ.
I am not going to tell you all about Elephantmen right now. But I am telling you that Elephantmen # 25 is a comic fan’s wet dream,...

With the huge success of Iron Man the movie and the excitement leading up to Iron Man 2 on May 7th, you can’t fault companies for wanting to merchandise. I’ve seen all sorts of things, from shirts, to frisbees (yes frisbees), to phone accessories with the Iron Man logo, colors and likeness all being sold to capitalize on what has become a very popular character even outside the regular comic buying community. What I didn’t expect to see however is limited edition Iron Man cologne from Diesel.

We then contact the owner and ask a few questions and even throw some pictures up on the site!! Sweet! Right? Well wait it gets better. We also decided that every POW(PICK OF THE WEEK) for that month that we record that we will mention the store of that month.. for the entire month! Now here is the important part...

The great fun of being part of this site is i can pretty much post anything I like as long as it’s geeky in some way. WELL, do I have a tasty treat for you….
Every year at Passover my family get’s together and I play with my food. I use matzo and the weird brown stuff on the table (whatever it is, i call it cement) to create masterpieces, or at least try.
This year I began construction of a rectangular shape and my friend insisted she knew that I was making a TARDIS. Of course, once she said that I wanted...

The past few weeks have been filled with Scott Pilgrim news. Well, now we have some news about the upcoming video game by Ubisoft.

Ah, Marvel Zombies. Love it or hate it, it’s undeniably growing in popularity amongst Marvel readers, and the franchise pretty much doubled it’s back catalogue size in 2009 alone. Some people have a real dislike for Robert Kirkman’s early runs on the series he created, but I think with the arrival of Fred Van Lente’s ‘Marvel Zombies 3′ series a while back, a lot of readers felt as if he had rekindled their love for what was, (or in some eyes, ‘what could have been’) a remarkable...

For this week’s column I’ve decided to go against my own grain and instead of reviewing an independent comic or spotlighting a certain creator or gallery show I’d like to profile a website that every sequential art fan should know about, but many currently may not: www.comicartfans.com.
It’s a pretty safe bet that anyone reading this collects comics. And while I agree that having a first print of a notable issue or that hard-to-find variant cover is awfully keen, there is nothing cooler within the hobby...

At this moment at least 1/3 of the geek population is counting down the the April 3rd premier of Doctor Who (April 17th in the US). Everyone is excited and terrified to see how Matt Smith will hold up, especially having to follow David Tennant’s run. The good news is, we are only 6 days away from the release, the bad news is, for some the return to the Who-verse is bitter-sweet.
The return of Doctor Who has brought out a resurgence of fans who are desperate to see Torchwood back on air. They want to see the continued...

I’m typing this having just heard the news myself, Dick Giordano, comic legend has passed away at the age of 77 after complications from pneumonia. I could give you a dry list of all the books he worked on, all the individuals he introduced to the industry and tell you about how he got his start, but I’m not going to. I’d rather keep this genuine and express what this loss means to me as an Inker. Bear with me:

Underground, By Jeff Parker and Steve Lieber, is a prime example of how much value color can add to a book. Underground is a lot like the Cliffhanger or Broken Arrow of comics. Not just in the sense that they all take place in national parks and travel deep inside caves, but in the progression of the story. The way the action unfolds, the kinds of tension used and the dialogue.

The content of alternative comics anthologies in the last ten years seems to be veering away from their (potentially offensive) underground roots. Instead, these collections seem to be reaching more towards the art gallery-centric world of the Pop Surrealism movement. For example, Blab! once regularly spotlighted cartoonists like Kaz, Daniel Clowes and Richard Sala. But now it reserves the most space for top names in the alternative art world like Gary Baseman, Mark Ryden and Camille Rose Garcia. All of these creators are equally...

I don’t know what to say, but all I can say for now is WOW. Here is the Iron Man 2 trailer that was aired straight after the Academy Awards. For those of you who’ve been living under a rock for the past year, here’s a brief synopsis of the film:
Robert Downey Jr. returns as Tony Stark, the wealthy playboy whose exploits as Iron Man are now public knowledge after his admission at the close of the first film. In the follow-up, Stark is pitted against his Russian arch nemesis, Whiplash (Mickey Rourke), and corporate...

If you have been reading here at the site or listening to the podcasts for a while, you know I love the Green Lanterns. In fact, there is one sexy lantern I would like to get to know if I was part of the DC Universe. I’m talking about Arisia. But what is she like as a figure? This week we are looking at Green Lantern Arisia Blackest Night figure from wave 3. She is in the same wave as Larfleeze, Aquaman and Star Sapphire.
Package Description
After replacing her father as the Green Lantern of Sector 2815, Arisia of Graxos...

Hey ComicImapct readers! Since I’m the new girl around here I thought I would write my first review about Girls Comics No. 1 by Marvel. It is done completely by women in the industry. Before any of you dim witted people jump to the wrong idea, NO, it is not all hearts and rainbows. Each story brings something both male and female comic fans will enjoy. Although each team up has it’s own feel, they all seem to fit together.
First I’d like to talk about the amazing cover by Amanda Conner and Laura Martin....

Hey guys, welcome back to the Pick of The Week podcast for February 24th. This week you’ll be joined by Simon, Sheldon and Rob.. but alas we regret to inform you that because yesterdays Book of the Month podcast drove Dana to the edge of sanity, she went to a sex club and almost never came back, but she did, and she’s resting from her extreme experiences of last night! Rob and Simon have fully recovered from their claps you’ll be glad to hear, and are with us again this week.
Sheldon had the POW last week, which...

So what do you get when you mix Doctor Who, Incognito,James Bond and a whole lot of mind altering drugs? Casanova Book 1: Luxuria by Matt Fraction and Gabrial Ba. Mind you I mean that in the nicest possible way, but this comic is quite an experience.
Rob and I have loved this book for a while so I thought I would use our new Book of the Month feature to force Simon to read it too. Good news is that Simon loved the book, well what he understood of it, well even the parts that he didn’t understand.
So join the gang as we...

Did you enjoy February’s book of the month, Casanova by Matt Fraction? Then look for the book of the month podcast that will be up later tonight. I also hope you enjoy March’s book of the month, as I have the pick this time around, and the book I chose is The Squirrel Machine.
I am not sure what this book is all about, as I only know that it’s by legendary cartoonist Hans Rickheit. So if you tend to enjoy something that is not from a big company, then you came to the right place! If you are only a fan of Marvel...
