“Zombies In Love” Gallery Show In L.A. This Sat. 2/6/10
With Valentine’s Day just around the corner we should pause to recognize that love can, in fact, live beyond the grave, although in a somewhat bloodier fashion. Need proof? Then head down to Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, CA this weekend for the opening of their new show “Zombies In Love”.

Over two dozen artists from the worlds of comics, film design, illustration and special effects will give their take on rotted romance in what is guaranteed to be the coolest thing going down in L.A. this weekend. Featured artists include William Stout, Jordu Schell, Scott Campbell, Junko Mizuno and gore makeup master Greg Nicotero of the incredible KNB efx group. As with all shows at Nucleus several artists will be on hand for the opening night festivities including Chris Lane who will be signing copies of his new book “Zombies: A Record of the Year of Infection”.

But if you think that this night will consist of just admiring fine art while wearing a monocle and holding a sifter of brandy in one hand, you couldn’t be more wrong. The evening begins with a zombie walk through downtown Alhambra which ends at the gallery itself where the show will officially begin. Here’s a rundown of the evenings activities.
- Zombie Walk at 6:20PM (meet at the corner of Atlantic & Main St.).
- Free giveaways every hour.
- Free refreshments & snacks.
- Eat My Taco selling tacos.
- Zombie Shooting Range (rent gas powered airsoft guns to take down real, live zombies.)
- Live performance by Teen Groov.
- Free zombie-themed figure drawing session with Dr. Sketchy LA.
Also, there will a giveaway of a new, signed print by the awesome Scott Campbell titled “Zombie Fair” going to the winner of the zombie costume contest. For the non-undead among us the print will also be available for sale at the event.

This is going to be one gory hoot for everybody involved and I could not recommend this event more. Slap on some foam latex (if you’re still one of the living), splash a liberal amount of fake blood on yourself (if the real thing is not available), and head to Gallery Nucleus this Saturday. It’s going to be wicked fun, no bones about it.
