Walking Dead Greenlit at AMC

In a move that shocked absolutely no one, AMC greenlit production of at least one episode of the show based off of Kirkman’s comic.  Frank Darabont (Of Shawshank Redemption and Green Mile fame) is basically going to be a one man army, writing, directing and possibly producing the show.

the_walking_dead_50TV skeptics, like these losers over here, think this show won’t be able to sustain itself.  They argue shows like Lost are losing the public’s interest.  Maybe they are right, but I feel it underestimates the intriguing story arc Robert Kirkman has built.

Darabont is exactly the man you want on this project.  If you doubt this for a second, look at his IMDB page and tell me there isn’t a movie on there you hate.  Now I could take a comic store argument here and just flaunt his resume, but I’ll go one step further…

Darabont has been vehemently pitching this script for quite some time.  It was only a matter of time before HBO or AMC heard him.  Now let’s say you are skeptical of AMC.  HAVE YOU SEEN WHAT THEY PUT OUT!?!?!  HBO might be good for the softcore porn that is True Blood, but Walking dead can become easily digestible with a few subtle tweaks.

Walking Dead never had much sex in it, the f-bomb can always be replaced by more effective expressions of anger and frustration, and the violence doesn’t have to be cut down if we show it in black and white.  Mind you this is merely my two cents on it, but trust me when I tell you that you should be pretty damned excited about this.

Also: to the “OntheBox” dot com kids… Using the word “Zompacolypse” is not over the edge or daring.  It’s been in circulation all over the internet for quite some time.  In fact, a ten minute twitter search will lead you to lots of variations of the “pacolypse” variety.

Just please make sure that if you’re going to embarrass yourselves by admitting you are behind the times, you at least spell the proper word correctly.

I’m Rich, and I’m a Zompacolypse survivor.
