Boom! Town: New Boom Imprint!

1106498-boom_townIn a world where indie publishers are tightening their belts and delivering even less great small press content, Boom Studios goes out on a limb with a new Imprint.  Boom! Town will be a new line of comics focused on more literary endeavors, so this is definitely exciting to those who coast the independent label racks.

According to Comics Alliance, among Boom! Town’s first projects will be a re-release of R. Crumb trading cards care of literary agent Dennis Kitchen, and Shannon Wheeler’s collection of rejected New Yorker magazine cartoons.

With Anaheim con coming, I’m willing to bet Boom will be on hand to give us a lot more information on the imprint as it begins to develop into a more substantial push for retailers.  I applaud Boom, way to think outside the box and acknowledge the hard work Indie comic creators put into their medium.

It will be interesting to see the type of stories that are produced.

I’m Rich, and Boom! Town excites the hell out of me.

I find this really interesting too. I’m a little skeptical though as many publisher’s idea of indie and underground is anything that warrants a “mature readers” label on it. Still, Boom! is off to a great start with re-releasing the awesome Crumb cards and the Wheeler material. If they are smart they will continue to work with Denis Kitchen, a legendary name from the world of underground comics publishing.
