A new multiverse in Dc Comics
DC Comics has announced that Earth One will start in 2010, What is Earth One well looks like it is going to be a series of graphic novels that are a new continuity on a new Earth.
” Starting next year, DC Comics will unveil SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE and BATMAN: EARTH ONE, two graphic novels spotlighting the most powerful heroes of the DC Universe, with their first years and earliest moments retold in a standalone, original graphic novel format, on a new earth with an all-new continuity.”
J. Michael Straczynski and artist Shane Davis are both working on the Superman Earth One and The Batman Earth One will be done by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank. I love the team up for the Batman graphic novel since you have one of my favorite writer and artist working together one more time and this time on my favorite character in DC.
I am loving what they are doing on Superman: Secret Origin. Yet I don’t see why they had do this new Batman and Superman on a multiverse.
I would been happy just have a Batman Secret Origin series just like they did with Superman: Secret Origin. I am sure I will be the first one in line to read these new graphic novel.I know I love the idea of having Geoff Johns take on Batman!!! I can’t wait to read that one for sure.

As a newbie when it comes to the multiverse stuff, I would really appreciate it if they stopped with that crap. It’s confusing as hell.

Earth One is, I think, a poor name, because it puts the focus on issues of multiversity, rather than on the real headline, the format. To start a line of original graphic novels, DC had to start with the origins — that way, someone who might not be familiar with Superman really can get in on the ground floor with the first volume. But by volume two, three, or four, it’ll be smooth sailing again, and we can focus on what’s important — DC embracing the graphic novel comics format by creating a line dedicated to these books.

Sooo…Ultimate DC huh? Whatever happened to ALL STAR DC? You know, looking over this article reminded me of two books I used to really like back in the day…One was called Batman and the other was called Superman, but of course, the powers that be decided that they shouldnt be in their own books for now.
No offense, Collectededitions, but who the hell is not familiar with superman or batman these days? Everyone has seen the dark knight twice, and the superman symbol and mythos is more recognizable around the entire world than the image and story of Jesus Christ( who in itself is represented in many differnt religions going by many different names) Im beginning to think that DC believes that the only interesting superman story is the G–D— origin story. im all about putting Straz on Superman…but in the actual Superman book starring….you guessed it…Superman. This just reeks of quick buck chuck here.
Take a look at the ultimate marvel line…first few years…awesome cool revisioning of some of the characters in a real world feel and no continuity. But what happens when the fresh storytelling gets past the origins? We start seeing re hashes of classic storylines…almost like getting a cliffs notes versions of what really happened in the “real universe”. And lets face it…the original DC is the real universe. Real comic fans wont take this as seriously as whats happening in the established dc universe, because of all the time and care we have put in. The years of reading the stories and the ever growing bond we have formed with these characters that we relate to, or aspire to be like. Lets ask ourselves right now…is it more exciting to watch remakes of our favorite movies? or watch sequels? I for one love comics because th estory doesnt end…it just adds to the already established character. The character grows and I grow with them, dealing with new problems, new highs and new lows. There isnt a single fan out there going to be surprised by any reveal in these two new books. What?!?! the villian laughing in the background..what does he call himself? The Joker? ahh thats clever..I wonder what he is like? Oh no…that planet is blowing up…whatever will happen to that poor innocent newborn?
I love the stories by Straz and Johns…two of my favorite writers in comics, but I think its time that DC learn how to deal with the cards they are dealt, rather than always calling for a re-deal

So then because you’re a newbie then DC should just forget about the years of story development and continuity and throw it out the window just for you. Give me a break.
And all the rest of you haters. Why are complaining about this? This isn’t affecting the regular Superman or Batman titles. If you don’t like the idea then don’t buy it and stick to the Batman and Superman you know.
As for me, I love the idea! I was wondering when Earth-1 was gonna show up. If I’m right, then this should be the “Silver-Age Earth”. It should be the Earth that was the mainstream DC Universe before the original Crisis took place.
