Ok I am in a bit in aw here, our digital comic fan boy (more like a fetish really) and all around fan of Ed Brubaker, Sheldon did not post this. Marvel will be providing their comics for sale through four applications; ComiXology, iVerse, ScrollMotion and Panelfly.
You can download any one of these applications on either your iPhone or your iTouch and access a rather vast collection of Marvel comics NOT current issues. Even though there is a lot you can download, here are some of the stuff I would have liked to see. The...

It is time for this week’s POW. This week is just Simon and Sheldon, Dana has been diagnosed with the Black Lantern plague and Rob is in Scotland.
Simon talks about Blackest Night Superman 3 0f 3 , Sheldon loves the art work on Hulk and Simon can’t stand it, thinks it’s some of the worst artwork around. Simon is more into word balloons in the all new Comic by A. J. Lieberman call Cowboy Ninja Viking # 1. Both boys agree on their love of Iron Man and can’t wait for Stark Disassembled. The guys also...

The undisputed master of the Japanese horror manga genre is Kazuo Umezu. Born in 1936, Umezu is part of the generation of artists and writers who grew up in the wake of the devastating atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki followed by the humiliating defeat of Japan in WWII. The generational shell-shock of these events undeniably shaped the future of their work and served as the starting point for what is now the massive Japanese pop culture landscape.
Although he had started producing manga while still in high school,...

Simon said he was getting an interview, and Matt said he was just shooting footage for the site, but I knew better.
No doubt, Lady Deadpool was foxy, but make sure you check out the other costumed crusaders from Long Beach.
When our impromptu shoot was over, we gathered our thoughts over pizza and planned our moves for the next day. Deciding that no time should be wasted, I grabbed the awesome Michael Alan Nelson for my very first video interview evar! (09, a year of firsts for me I guess).
Michael was so interesting. Here...

Kicking Trade Tuesday back off (hopefully to a flying start) this week, I, Rob, aim to review the first trade paper back of a recently revived series from Marvel Comics, one which I feel would put an extra twenty years of life back into any octogenarian, by just reading it. Although not a proven belief, I still believe it would do just that, so back off, or at least back off so far that you walk yourself into your local comic store and pick yourself up a copy of Guardians Of The Galaxy: Legacy.
Legacy is the first trade paper...

Iconic mangas are those that have stood the test of time. They are known by everyone (even if they haven’t read it), are constantly cosplayed, respected and above all have avoided fading into obscurity with the million other mangas that have been and gone.
Cowboy Bebop has managed to do just that, with its amazing mash-up of film noir, sci-fi, beautiful women, danger, Jazz and out right weird.
Cowboy Bebop is set in the year 2071 and finds itself set in outterspace after an explosion from a warp gate experiment results in daily...

Star Wars Invasion #0, had Simon perplexed since #5 is due out in a few weeks. Blackest Night Batman #3 might just have a connection between ice and white lanterns. Is there a possible romance between Red Robin and...

With Halloween right around the corner and all the spooky connotations that come with it hanging in the air it seemed like a good time to scour the shelves of my favorite comic book store for some seasonally appropriate material. The store in question is Comics Factory in Pasadena, CA where, if you’re an indie reader like me, you’re in luck as their selection of independents is so wide it almost rivals all the stock of the Big Two put together. Another huge plus for my ghoulish spree is that there seems to be more horror...

“Halt!”
We complied with the command and the Stormtrooper centered his blaster on us. My friend got a bit jittery and the Stormtrooper put him in cuffs. This is how we ended up at the booth for the 501st Legion, and that’s where I met their leader, Scott Allen. He gave me his card, which featured him in full costume as the Dark Father himself.
I learned a lot about the 501st, mostly that they weren’t out to destroy the galaxy. Turns out they have a ton of divisions, all geared toward charity. Their upcoming...

This week where going to take at look at a Comic Impact favorite since Dana, Sheldon and Rob are all fans of the Iron Fist character.
Will this Marvel Universe figure make Rob fight Sheldon for his figure or will it just go in the trash?

The Lowdown: If you’re looking for a continuing narrative, this is not the book for you, however if you are a history buff that likes a good twist you may want to run to the store for this one.
Max Brooks is famous for many things, almost all of them zombie related. This book continues in that same vein, helping to add to the world he has created in an intriguing way. When you pick up Recorded Attacks, it doesn’t feel the way a comic ought to. There is no real narrative, no real dialogue even. Most of the book is...

It’s really hard for me to write about things I like. I feel like it’s easier to talk about things that are wrong with a book. My first start of this review read “this book is neat, i really think you should read it.” In truth, that’s gonna be the heart of this review but I’m going to try to elaborate just a bit more.
For those of you not in the know, Soulfire is a comic about the resurgence of magic in the year 2211. It’s one of Michael Turner’s great contributions to the world...

Now us comic book types, be that manga or otherwise, are often stereotyped to not liking sports and in fact, being rather allergic to exercise all together. So I thought this manga would be perfect. Not only is it sports based but it is a Japanese manga that is based off an American sport. Football.
Eyesheild 21 is a pretty big manga, concluded at a hefty 37 volumes, had a successful anime in Japan and even had a spin off TCG (trading card game) and video games. While American football seems to be an odd choice, even more so...

When we left off, I was wrapping up my first meeting with Jason Gonzalez, a colorist for Todd McFarlane’s Spawn.
Livesay stepped up to the booth and I finally got to speak with him. He seemed a bit more interested in taking commissions than talking to yours truly, but I got a chance to get his top 3 reading recommendations! He plugged his own book, Doom Patrol, but also suggested Punisher and Dark Avengers.
I bothered him about his inking work, mainly looking for insight to his process. He explained that an inker...

With Halloween almost upon us I’d like to make mention of an incredible art show that just opened in the L.A. area that is not only seasonally appropriate, but also contains many connections to the world of comics: October Shadows at Gallery Nucleus in downtown Alhambra, CA.

This week we’re going to take a look at Union Jack from Marvel Universe 3 3/4 line of figures. As many of you know I tend to have a bit of a Brit Boner so we thought it HIGHLY appropriate for me to review this figure. I also am a big fan of these figures as a whole and feel that this figure stands out amongst the Iron men and Spider guys! I would later be told that this was what a con should be.
I was sitting outside and waiting to hear from Simon, my contact within. It was Saturday morning and I was full of spunk, the purity that comes with the excitement of the unknown. Somewhere inside the Long Beach Convention Center were artists and writers that I’d have to interview, minds I’d have to get inside of, and I had no idea what to say to any of them.
When I was done skulking around the outskirts I decided to join the party. Coming down the escalator...

Thanks to everyone for making the Gregg Hurwitz signing at Galaxy of Comics such a great day. For those of you who couldn’t make it down, you missed advice from Greg himself, on how to get your foot in the industry door.
We also talked about his recent trip to Australia and the yummy kangaroo meat he ate. Oh and I can’t forget the Moon Pies!!

In nine months you can make a baby, be married and divorced, get cured of cancer, watch every episode of Dr. Who ever aired (Trust me, I’ve done the last two). All these things and more in the time from now until San Diego Comic Con 2010. The one thing you can’t do is buy your pass for preview night. That’s right folks, preview night is sold out NINE MONTHS in advance.
Comic Con International has decided to make a limited number of preview night tickets available for those who plan their trips a year in advance....

Hey everyone. I hope you are all well, and I hope you’ve all had a somewhat less hectic past 2 weeks as I certainly have. Goodness me, firstly let me appologise for my incapability to put out a TTT last week, I was having a little bit of a hard time being swamped with University application nonsense, it believe me, it takes time if you’re someone like me who finds it hard to multitask.

Now that it’s been a few days since the end of the first annual Long Beach Comic-Con I’d thought I’d chirp in with some thoughts on the event. Firstly, it took place in the clean n’ cheery part of Long Beach as opposed to the “run, motherfucker, run!” areas which would have been not only an odd choice of locales, but potentially a complete disaster for us sensitive artistic types.
An entire afternoon passed in Long Beach and no one had to use their A-K. Today was a good day.
I was happy to see many independent publishers...

The Long Beach Comic Con is everything a con should be. It was sizable without being overly large, busy without being overbearing, and most importantly, kept it’s focus on comic books. Simon and I were both reminded of the San Diego Comic Con fifteen years ago, where there was plenty of things to see without the annoying crowds, humongous lines, and the loud presence of video game and motion picture booths (although both were present at Long Beach).
In my years of going to cons, I’ve found that there are two...
