Another week roles on by, and we move into a whole fresh week for new released. So let’s see what the gang have pulled for themselves this time over. Rob’s come out of hiding this week after last week’s shockingly poor issue of Marvel Zombies: Returns gave him some sort of fever (there’s a lot of illness going around the CI staff at the moment).
Rob’s got the pick this week, will he go for Blackest Night: Titans #2, or perhaps the final issue of Marvel Zombies: Returns. Will Sheldon be fond of the...

War of Kings is over! It’s finished, we’re done with that! Regardless of what you thought of War of Kings, it’s time to move on say Abnett and Lanning, whose reign over the Marvel Cosmos is arguably the work of Gods!
Roll in a new cross over event with many new tie ins, called ‘Realm Of Kings’. All I can say is that it looks mighty promising! What with the big battle between Vulcan and Black Bolt opening a fault in the universe, it also opens up the opportunity for more awesome cosmic stories. Although...

There’s something fascinating about seeing your favorite hero doing what they do best, but in a radically altered setting or environment. A big favorite of mine as a kid was What If? from Marvel. In (somewhat) more recent years it’s a real kick to see what DC creators do with the various Elseworlds releases. One that always springs to mind is Gotham By Gaslight in which we see what Batman would be like if he lived and operated in the late 1800’s. Pretty far-out to be sure, but how is the reader to react upon seeing the...

This week we’re going to take a look at Ms. Marvel from Marvel Universe. This is kind of a big deal since it is the first time we’re taking a look at a female sculpt, Marvel Universe figure. This line only has two females in it, the other one is Firestar from the 3-pack Toys ‘R’ Us Exclusive . Please note this review is NOT for the Ms.Marvel Classic figure.

It’s another Thursday, which means another Tea Time Thursday for you readers at Comic Impact. As I promised, I’m still continuing too follow up on my report of the current story about Strontium Dog in the 2000AD comic at the moment.
This week it’s Chaper Four in ‘The Mork Worshipper’ storyline. If you’re not up to speed on what’s been going on in this story, or perhaps am confused as to why I am covering this story, then do check back on the previous few TTT’s I’ve published...

As you know we do love New Avengers here at ComicImpact and since Sheldon is back from his birthday break we wonder, will he make it pick of the week or will he go with something like Fantastic Four #571 or Dark Reign: The List: X-Men (One-Shot)?
Will Rob cry at the end of Madman Atomic Comics #17 since this is the grand finale? Will Dana join a rock band after reading Killapalooza #5 (of 6)? I know I can’t wait for Invincible #66 as Artist Cory Walker is back on what I think is one of the best comics around.

Well it wasn’t Dana’s Pick of the Week but I know Sheldon and I are both big fans of Vengeance Of The Moon Knight #1. If your local store sold out of this first issue of Moon Knight where he comes back with his sights set on Norman Osbourn and crew then It Is ok.
Vengeance Of The Moon Knight #1 is going back to the printer for a new printing! This time with a David Finch sketch variant cover and it will be on sale on October 28, 2009.
Do you already enjoy Moon Knight ? Then why not listen to our interview with...

Umbrella Academy
I’m a big fan of the small series. Things that have an established beginning, middle, and end. I like stories like this because they free me of investing in arbitrary volumes dedicated to super heroes fighting struggles I sometimes don’t care about. I either like it or I don’t.
Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s Umbrella Academy is one of those comics that sits on the shelf, in my store’s case it’s the bottom shelf, and waits for you to notice it. Once you do, I think we can both agree that it’s...

While thinking about the manga artist group CLAMP, I remembered another manga that I feel in love with early on in my addiction. The manga is known as Cardcaptor Sakura. It follows the story of 10 year old Sakura Kinomoto, who happens to stumble upon an old book. Upon opening the book she learns that she has released many magical cards into her world and she is now a Cardcaptor.
Her new role as Cardcaptor means she has to use new powers granted to her to tame the now lose cards and then use the powers for herself. The cards...

If you weren’t aware, DC Comics hasn’t ever had a video game that’s been generally well-received by the public or critics. Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe came close, but let’s face it, that was more of a matter that the game just wasn’t total crap. Over the years though the Batman franchise has been plagued with sub-par games. Personally, I was a fan of The Rise of Sin Tzu, but I was in the minority on that one. Anyway, the Batman games have never captured what it’s like to actually be the dark...

Welcome back one and all, to the Pick Of The Week podcast for the comics of September 16th 2009. After Simon got his pick last week, now it’s Dana’s turn to have her pick, but surprisingly she doesn’t chose the second issue of a series that got its first issue as a Pick of the Week a while back.
So sit in, open wide, and let Simon, Dana & Rob give you your weekly dose of hardcore comic-book banter. It’s a Sheldon-less show this week unfortunatly, because on Sunday it was his birthday, so we told...

The widespread popularity and availability of Marvel in the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s (it seemed like almost every store had a spinner rack in them) meant that any comic loving kid who grew up in those eras more than likely read copious amounts from those now classic years. Some of those kids grew up to become today’s top independent creators, and though their usual output shares little resemblance to the traditional superhero themes of the comic book publishing giant, they seemed to have gleefully accepted the chance to...

DC Directs popular line of busts continues with its new series “Heroes of the DC Universe” which began with Hal Jordan then briefly detoured into a parallel line entitled “Heroes Villains of the DC Universe” lead by Lord Darkseid himself.
The second in the series was ironically enough Batman. These busts continue the tradition of fantastic sculpts and dynamic poses from its predecessor “Women of the DCU”. Hal’s outstretched arm, fist clenched doing battle with an intergalactic foe, Darkseid arms akimbo taking...

If you’ve been on the iTunes homepage lately, you might have happened upon the Mayhem iTunes LP. I first heard about it through a friend but it got a lot of attention while it was featured on iTunes. This package is available only on iTunes 9 or later, and for only $1.99 it is insanely worth your money.

Occasionally when you focus a camera you noticed things that are the same but different, by that I mean that they are a bit blurry and not in focus to what will hopefully be a crisp, clear picture. Almost a doppelganger of what will be. The New Invaders written by Allan Jacobson with art by C.P. Smith and Jorge Lucas was that for me in a GREAT way.
The New Invaders Trade collects issues 1- 9 of the series and features Cap Johnny Walker, The Thin Man, Spit Fire, Namor, Joseph Chapman AKA Union Jack and The Blazing Skull. Just...

I am finally back! After finishing off at university, going to PAX and getting sick while I was there, I can say I am back brining you Manga Monday even though I’m sure most of you skip it.
Anyway this week we look at the super popular and slightly odd manga known as Chobits.
Chobits was written by one of the most famous groups, known as Clamp. It was started in February 2001 and ran until November 2002 and spanned only 8 volumes. Now Chobits is a bit of an odd one as due to its romantic themes, hapless hero and ‘girly’...

Putting aside the fact that the comics themselves featured many of the same classic characters we’ve known all our lives, the often-forgettable releases from Marvel in the 1990’s bares little resemblance to the company’s output today. When you factor in the abolishment of the Epic line, bad business practices leading to a glut of material (over 100 titles at one point), and their top name creators jumping ship to launch the instantly successful Image, you get a titan of the industry not exactly in the midst of a new...

After months and months of waiting, this Tuesday Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 will finally be released. If you haven’t been following, the game will roughly follow the events of Marvel’s Civil War storyline.
Details on how this will actually play out as far as gameplay goes hasn’t been touched on as much. In fact, most of the previews and revealings have been on what characters are in the game and how many different costumes each one has. What characters are in the game?
How about: Cable, Juggernaut, Green Goblin,...

Rather than approach this with a PR friendly attitude, I’m just going to come right out and say it. This weeks Cup o’ Crap Joe was a deliberate homage to Disney. It was an attempt to put a happy smile on an otherwise dark day.
Faithful readers, I’m going to be picking on Joe Quesada. This is a huge deal and higher ups stand to make tons of money off of it, Quesada is no exception. It was completely in character for him to say what he said during that interview. What you have to remember is that above all,...

Movies like King Kong, The Valley of Gwangi, One Million Years B.C. and The Land That Time Forgot were mandatory viewing when they would pop up on Saturday afternoon television (this was back in the pre-historic days shortly before cable and home video). Comics like Jack Kirby’s Devil Dinosaur and The War That Time Forgot were read and reread endlessly. Even though I loved anything even remotely monster related there was a difference when it...
