It is that time of the month when we here at ComicImpact take a look at some great comic book ink. This time we got Jess Jupiter aka Jess. Who is a die-hard x-men fan and she knows where x marks the spot on her as she talks to us about her X-Men Tattoo.

1. What is your name?
You may know me as Jess Jupiter, but I like to go by ‘Jess’ on most days.

2. How old are you and where do you live?
I’m 19 years old, living in the suburbs of Chicago.

3. Do you read comics and if so what do you like to read?
Oh good Lord! Recently I’ve been going on crazy comic binges where I read any of my boyfriend’s hard covers and trades that I can get my hands on! New Avengers, a few “X” titles, Proof and Invincible are a few of the more recent titles that I like to read.

4. Do you have any favorite artists or writers?
But of course! I love Brian Michael Bendis, Mark Millar, Jeffery Brown, J. Scott Campbell, Art Baltazar, Skottie Young, and oh so many more!

5. So what got you into tattoos?
They’ve always been around me. I just kinda always assumed that I would get one! Most of my friends and family have at least one or two tattoos or piercings, so you could say that I’ve been exposed to the ‘alternative’ scene for a loooong time.

6. What is your comic book tattoo?
My tattoo is of the X-Men logo that they put EVERYWHERE in the 90’s.

7. What made you want to get that as your tattoo?
Ha. Well I’ve always been a huge fan of X-Men, from the animated series (all three of them), comic books, to action figures. It kinda adds a whole new level to my devotion to the series. When I decided to get a tattoo I realized that I wanted it to be of something that really mean a lot to me. I’ve always loved the philosophy and depth that X-Men has and how easy it is to relate to the issues that they present, so I decided that I’d become an X-Man for life the moment that I could.

8. How long did it take?
I honestly don’t know. Somewhere around an hour or two I would venture to guess.

9. Where did you get it done?
I went to the Skin Gallery in Downers Grove, IL. I highly recommend them!

10. Have you ever met any of the artists or writers whose work your tattoo is based on?
Ha. I’ve met a few of the long list of artists and writers that have worked on the X-Men titles. Though, I still need to shake Stan Lee’s hand!

11. Do people know about your comic book tattoo?
Of course! Ha. Anyone who knows me well enough to be able to get an invitation over to my house can clearly see my obsession on display. When I tell them that I have the tattoo, they’re not usually shocked.

12. What is the funniest thing that has happened to you when someone saw it?
Usually they have the same exact reaction that my mother had. They’re eyes just get big, they blink a few times, and try to reach for words. To me, its hilarious that people don’t know how to react to a silly thing like a tattoo! I don’t take it super seriously!

13. Are you hoping to get more comic book ink?
Yup! I have several comic book tattoos thrown into the many other tattoos that I have planned.

14. What do you like to do when you’re not getting tattoos- such as where do you work and what kind of music do you like? Anything else you want to tell us?
What do I like to do? Hm. I usually am trying to sew a costume, talking to people online, hanging out with my boyfriend, or working on some ideas and projects that I’m trying to follow through on. I’m also usually planning for the next comic book convention! This year, I’ve got a crazy convention schedule, so hopefully I’ll find the time and money to get some more ink done soon

15. Great do you have a website or a myspace?

Both!
My Myspace: http://www.myspace.com/missjessjupiter (feel free to add me, of course!)
My Website ( brand new and under construction):http://www.jessjupiter.webs.com
