‘Halo: Spartan Black’ News

Starting this Decemeber, Marvel are releasing yet another Halo comic series, directly after the current limited series called; ‘Halo Helljumpers’ finishes. This series starting at the very end of 2009, is going to be called ‘Halo50f6d8a0e6679df319a7c04ab0a4d089: Spartan Black’, and it will be written by Fred Van Lente, and drawn by Francis Portela.

This limited series will run for 4 issues in length, and will be set before the Battle for Reach (which if you follow Halo continuity, you will know is before the very first Halo video game; ‘Combat Evoled’). Infact, the whole premise for this mini series is that it is based around a team of stranded Spartan-II soldiers, but whether they will actually be on Reach when the great battle took place, is yet to be annouced as far as we’re aware.

But, this we do know, as Fred himself had this to say about the series he is going to be writing…

“Spartan Black is also a pre-”Halo Combat Evolved” story, focused on a small Black Ops sabotage and intelligence fire team of Spartans assigned to the ONI, the Office of Naval Intelligence. While on a top-secret mission in enemy space, their ship crashes on a remote moon along with a Covenant cruiser. When a mysterious entity that has lurked on the moon for millions of years threatens both groups, Spartans and Covenant have to forge an uneasy alliance to take down the common threat … but not all humans and aliens can suddenly start treating the other like allies..”

So stay tuned for more information on this exciting new upcoming series from Marvel, as we learn more about it!
