Well all year long we have been seeing some of Marvels books hit big numbers such as Amazing Spider-Man #600, Captain America #600, Daredevil #500 and Hulk # 500.

After wrapping up the conflict with the Governor and the abandoning of their safe spot, we were all asking the same question. What’s next? Walking Dead isn’t about in your face sadistic violence. It’s not over the top or realistic. It’s an exploration into human depravity, that which makes us tick at the basest levels. In a lot of ways, what’s implied behind the violence is worse than the violence itself.
How many times have you asked yourself what you would have done in that hopeless situation?...

Today’s comic book artists working within the mainstream may not always be consciously aware of just how little restrictions are put on their work. When the human body is represented, there isn’t always a whole lot left to the imagination even though the characters are fully clothed. A good example of this is the slick art of Guillem March on the current series Gotham City Sirens. The central characters look less like costumed villanesses and more like nude women whose bodies have been painted. Cartoonists of the past had...

Just about every fan in Sector 2814 can say the oath, unfortunately we rarely have the tools to make it just that much cooler. DC Direct has the solution with the latest addition to the “JLA Trophy Room” series of replicas.

The Rulk from the Marvel 3 ¾ inch series is actually a good figure in a very crappy line. I don’t like this series at all. I don’t like the spindly legs and arms. I don’t like the fragility of this line. I don’t like the double joints which is a big reason I didn’t collect the Marvel Legends series. And most of all, I don’t like the choking hazards disguised as accessories. The reason why the Rulk is a good figure is it strays from the spindly legs while keeping scale with the rest of the line.

Sony announced that they will be releasing a digital comic reader in November for the PSP and Marvel Comics will be one of the companies supplying them with titles. Other than that, this project is going to crash and...

There are many comic collections and anthologies that champion comics’ relatively recent acceptance as true and serious art. The only potential problem is that many such volumes invariably become a bit stuffy and academic, forgetting that a primary function of reading comic books is that the experience should also be a fun and entertaining one. One sequential art historian who never lets us forget this point is the incomparable Craig Yoe via his series of eye-popping “Arf” books. To date there are four volumes: “Modern...

So what are you doing on August 8th 2009…Well that can wait! Galaxy of Comics is having the BIG birthday party/sale. That’s right, come join the crew; Warren, Dana and Scott.
So why not stop by and say “Happy Birthday” to the team over at Galaxy of Comics since Warren’s birthday was on the 4th and Dana’s is on the 6th. Hell, Scott’s was sometime in May and they missed it so now they have to make it up to him somehow.
Galaxy of Comics is located at 17306 Saticoy St. Van Nuys, CA 91406.

In 1985 I was only seven years old. I was living in a small town called Cherbourg in France reading comics such as Asterix,TinTin.Lucky Luke and more Then one day I walked into the store that my mom and dad used to own and saw an Iron Man toy. I was in love with this toy and yet I had no idea who the character was. All I saw was that classic title “Secret Wars” on the toy and I fell in love with the Marvel Universe. Sure I went back and read Secret Wars a few years ago and it’s not that great looking back...

Did you miss the Kick-Ass Panel during Comic-Con? I know I did, but thanks to some Bothan spies we now have these bootlegged clips from the movie! Sure the sound is bad, but from watching these videos I have hope for this film as it looks like it kick ass. If you’re not sure what Kick-Ass is about let me tell you Comic Impact readers.
The story of Kick-Ass goes something like this: comic book fanboy Dave Lizewski decides to become a hero to save New York city from the real bad guys- street thugs, drug...

Manga comes in many different varieties and caters for many different people. This particular manga proves that you don’t have to have a manga 40 books long and an anime that spans 10years to create something with impact and something that you can fall in love with.
Paradise Kiss is only 5 books and 12 episodes long. It is by my favourite artist Ai Yazawa and become so popular it was translated into at least 10 different languages. The anime has some amazing music; the opening is called ‘lonely in gorgeous’ and the ended...

For this week’s installment of “Sequential Sunday” I’ve decided to forgo my usual long-winded appreciation of an indie/alternative/underground artist and instead jump right into some examples of the artist in question: Ivan Brunetti. The work (in this case examples of Brunetti’s very dirty minded gag cartoons) pretty much speaks for itself. An overview more worthy of this particular artist will appear in a future post, but for now here’s some filth to brighten your Sunday afternoon. Also, for those who are underage...

We’re back with this week’s POW podcast where Simon, Sheldon, and Andy spill the beans on the comics worth discussing from the week of July 29th! Simon had the Pick of the Week this time around (because Sheldon’s pull list, amongst other things, was too small) and he went with New Avengers #55. The dynamic trio also delve into The Stuff of Legend #1, Justice League of America #35, Blackest Night: Tales of the Corps #3, Detective Comics #855, Ultimatum #5, Fantastic Four #569, and of course the POW- The New...
