SDCC 2009: Marvel

Everything you want to know from the House of Ideas during this years Comic Con… from 16 million mutant zombies to  unlocking other characters in Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2. Here are the big announcements from Marvel:

  • Dark Reign will conclude by the end of the year! ( I DON’T LIKE THAT NEWS)
  • Marvel  Exiles is going to be canceled.
  • Fans of video games will love to know they can play as Jean Grey “Phoenix”, and Remy “Gambit” Lebeau in the new Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.  Does this mean Phoenix is coming back ?
  • Activision did say there would be downloadable content in the future, possibly to unlock other characters not appearing in the game.
  • Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 arrives on September 15, 2009 for PS2, PS3, PSP, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Xbox 360.
  • Joe Kelly and Eric Canete will feature Deadpool in Amazing Spider-Man #611. That’s fine with me since I love both of their work.
  • The  Black Widow will get her own  four-issue mini-series by Paul Cornell and Tom Raney in November.
  • Do you enjoy the Marvel Noir line of comics? Well, then you will  love that there is more on the way, such as  X-Men Noir: Mark of Cain by Fred Van Lente and Denis Calero.

  • Captain America/Black Panther by Reggie Hudlin and Denys Cowan will be a four-issue mini called Flags of Our Fathers. It’s going to be a Golden Age team-up set in World War II with modern day links. Looks like it is  expected tobe  released sometime in 2010.

Ok X-Men fans this is for you….

  • Fraction told me on Wednesday night  that you will never  guess how Utopia ends. That fans will be more then surprised.
  • X-Force #50 wraps up the future and present storylines and sets the stage for things to come in the next year
  • Daniel Acuna is the ongoing artist for X-Men Legacy.  Look for his work in September.
  • Nation X Begins  September 2009 and guess who is  back ? ……. Magneto.
  • Necrosha arrives in October 2009 and will see 16 million mutants brought back to ‘life.’
  • * The title will be Necrosha: X-Force/New Mutants/X-Men: Legacy.
    * Horror will play a big part in the series.

Let’s talk a bit about Spider-Man.

Marvel Digital Comics will begin offering in-continuity Spider-Man tales starting November 9.  Look for stories to flow between the print and digital comics. Guess who is going to join  Marvel digital comics? This guy right here posting this blog.

  • New stories will arrive every other Monday.
  • The first few issues are inspired by Marvels.
  • There is an arc coming up called “Who was Ben Reilly”.

  • Jason Aaron says that :  Dark Reign: The List: Wolverine is pretty crazy.
  • In  Dark Reign: The List: Punisher the Dark Avengers are out to kill Frank Castle.
  • Spider-Man fighting Green Goblin one more time ?  Sounds like it…
  • By the end of  Utopia you will  find out what the fuck is going on with Emma Frost and Scott Summers.
  • Do you want see a  big fight between The Hood and Frank Castle?  Then read Punisher #10.

So here is the biggest news out of  San Diego Comic Con; that Marvelman/Miracleman is back. I have never read Marvelman yet I know it is one of those ‘must reads’ for comic book fans.

“I did not think it would ever happen,” said Mick Anglo. “It’s a wonderful thing to see my creation finally back.”
