We all know that Nazi’s and the Swastika are the symbols of pure evil. So that makes for a great super villain named ‘Stormfront’ from The Boys right?
Well it looks like some people in Germany don’t like the idea at all. After World War II, Germany banned the use of the Swastika for any reason whatsoever. So does this mean we’re to believe that in films or history books in schools there isn’t a Swastika to be found anywhere in Germany? It is not like this comic book is Nazi propaganda.
While I can...

Do you want to read Captain America: Reborn right now? I know you do but, you’re just going to have to wait to pick up your copy at the comic store this week.
Before you do that you may want to read this Press Release by Marvel. You’ll be able to read an eight-page Captain America Reborn: Prelude for free, at Marvel’s digital comics site.
I just read it and thought it was ok. The Red Skull’s daughter (Sin) was asked by Special Agent Jones of H.A.M.M.E.R who the second shooter was. Also Norman Osborn...

We all know that I love Deadpool, but what about his new series Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth? Here is the description and a preview for this book:
HEAD TRIP, ” Part 1 of 6 It’s the Merc with two mouths! Deadpool travels to the Savage Land to retrieve what might be the deadliest bio-weapon the universe has ever seen. What is this deadly object? Well, Deadpool’s employer is being a little vague about that. Let’s just say when the secret is finally revealed, it’s enough to throw even the Merc with two...

Since the conception of “Trade Tuesday” I’ve known that I’d cover this very special series that is my all-time favorite. Here at Comic Impact, we’ve all read a LOT of comics, so when we say something is our favorite - you better damn well listen up. I’m going to be splitting this up into three parts. The entire series of Supreme Power spans 18 issues, not including the spin-offs, so next month will be issues 7-12 while this month is obviously 1-6.
For those unfamiliar with Supreme Power it’s...

It’s common knowledge that Stan Lee has made some great cameo’s in all of the Marvel films (my favorite is the mail man at the Baxter Building in both Fantastic Four movies).
So naturally, Stan will have another cameo in Iron Man 2. You may recall that one of the best cameos of all time (and Stan’s first) was when he portrayed Hugh Hefner in Iron Man. This time though, he will tackle the role of Larry King as he will be talking to Tony Stark about a modified version of the Iron Man suit!
I know what he’s...

Chances are that if you spend quite a bit of time on the internet, at some point you have come across the meme ‘It’s Over 9000′! Did you know that meme originates from one of the longest running mangas ever made? Yes, Dragon Ball started life as a manga in 1984 and ran in the weekly magazine, known as Shonen Jump untill 1995. That is 519 chapters, or 42 books! Since Manga and Anime share a close relationship all 42 books were adapted into a well known, long running anime that had three different series, known...

It’s a new month and an all new Pull List!
Andy has the POW (Pick of the Week) for this first week in July- will he pick Captain America: Reborn #1 to make Sheldon happy, or will he go with Deadpool Merc With a Mouth #1 to tantalize Simon?
Honestly, he probably won’t pick either as some kick ass indie books are due this week, like Terry Moore’s Echo, The Sword, and an all new Vertigo series called Greek Street! Who knows what he will pick, but you can check out the Comic Impact pull list by looking below:

Hello all! Not a lot of news this week, which is fine by me. However, I will say I was realllly looking forward to some kind (hell, any kind) of announcement from either Marvel or DC on their upcoming movies’ main characters. As Comic Con looms closer and closer it seems as though that will be the date for the release of many answers. I will get back to that topic at the end of this post, but for now lets look at what was actual news this week!

Comic anthology books are almost always a mixed bag. Though they often revolve around a certain theme, set of characters, or maintain a consistent tone, one cannot help but be either over or under whelmed by its contents. It is very rare to find an anthology that hits the mark on almost every page but the recent release “Typhon” is just that.
In Greek mythology Typhon was the most fearsome of all creatures, at one time even attempting to destroy Zeus himself. This tale is reflected on the cover of “Typhon” with an incredible...

Oh shit was that to soon? Eep. So you want to take a guess at what figure we’re going to take a look at for this week’s Figure Friday ? That’s right- Batman from DC Universe Classics series 1!

After last week’s Tea Time Thursday, in which I reviewed a great (but very serious) comic in the horror genre, this week I wanted to cover something a little more lighthearted!
So I was searching the shelf of British produced comics in my local comic shop this week, for something that looked as if it fitted the ‘little more lighthearted’ criteria of which I had subconsciously devoted myself to, when a comic caught my eye called ‘Ellerbisms’. I gave the description on the inside cover a quick read...

The Bomb is a series of T & A black and white short stories of the superhero/horror genre that are crude, hilarious, and sexy all at the same time. It’s also jam packed with pin-ups, which is appropriate considering the trade’s main story line takes place in the late 1930’s/early...

An unusual thing began to happen to the underground comics emerging from San Francisco after
Slow Death #9
their initial first wave in the mid-to-late 1960’s. As the dreams of the revolutionary youth counterculture began to fall apart (signs of which were already beginning to show by the end of 1967 — the year of the “Summer Of Love”), the fading hopes of the generation were seeping into the comics of the time in extremely dark ways. Though those initial undergrounds had some nasty elements in them, mainly stemming...

You see, I was out there to cover E3 2009 for a video game website I write for and while I’ve always dreamed of attending E3, it was exhausting. However, it wasn’t so exhausting that I don’t have a funny story for our loyal Comic Impact readers. So here we go.
On Day 2 of E3 I had about 2 hours of time to kill in between appointments to roam the show floor and get to check stuff...

Package Description
There was a time when Norman Osborn was just a man, though he has always had a surplus of ambition. Even then, however, there was a monster lurking deep within. The Goblin Serum brought that monster roaring to the surface, and caused his ambition to rage unchecked....

One of my favorite films of all time is the 1987 ultra-violent action flick, RoboCop. Sure, I’m aware that Frank Miller worked on the screen plays for RoboCop II and RoboCop III, but I don’t give a shit since I am not a fan of Miller.
It has come to my attention that a RoboCop movie remake is in development, and I’m not a big fan of the idea.
I have always loved the concept of a cyborg guy doing his part of putting an end to the violent, out of control crime in a city that lay in financial ruin. And yes, I can...

Dave Simons, the comic book artist / inker known for his work on Conan, Ghost Rider, Red Sonja and Spider-Man, has passed away from cancer. Originally he had Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, but then it spread into his throat and stomach. However, it wasn’t the cancer that killed him, it was pneumonia.
We miss you Dave. Thanks to Comic Impact reader Kylie from Australia for sending us this news.

Andrea Romano has been one of the driving forces in animation voice overs for more than a quarter century, her credit list reading like the honor roll for the Saturday morning cartoon Hall of Fame. From dramatic (Batman: The Animated Series) to silly (Animaniacs), contemporary (The Boondocks) to timeless (Smurfs), Romano has set the standard for matching actor to character with absolute savvy. Along the way, she has become a household name to legions of animation fans.
The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences has...

Paramount Pictures has released the first photo of Mickey Rourke a.k.a Whiplash at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix from Iron Man 2.
Now is it just me or does this look like something out of Mad Max? If you want to know more about the part at the Monaco Historic Grand Prix. I would tell you to pick up a copy of Essential Iron Man, Vol. 1 (v. 1)
and read Tales of Suspense #45- It was after all the first appearance of both Happy Hogan AND Pepper Potts!!
Here is what goes down in Tales of Suspense #45
Being followed by the icy...

You don’t have to be a drunk irresponsible super hero who also happens to be a multi billionaire industrialist genius like Tony Stark to appreciate this book! It’s Tuesday and you know what that means….TRADE TUESDAY!!! The book I am reviewing this week is The Invincible Iron Man: The Five Nightmares. I should preface this with the fact that I have never been a big Iron Man fan. I know I know. You can thank Simon for that one. Well Simon and Matt Fraction… and Salvador Larroca.
I only preface with that...

So I was asked to cover this story because I’m the CI staff member who loves horror films… and also because Sheldon has to keep his eyes close when he watches Buffy, and Andy can’t stand Metalocalypse.
Maybe because I saw all the Friday the 13th and Hellraiser films over 100 times in my life (that’s not a joke) is the reason why I love horror films.
Anyway, it looks like Eric Powell and the creators of Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse TV show are making a crossover that will kick you right in the nuts. I...

So yeah, it is blatantly Tuesday and I am made of fail. However, I spent a large portion of yesterday afternoon with my head in the toilet blowing chunks. Oddly enough my vomiting was not hang-over induced, but none the less it was a painful and typically unpleasant experience. I did (several times in fact) attempt to post my Manga Monday only to find that looking at the computer screen for more than 30 seconds sent me racing back to the bathroom. Yet the talk of needing to throw up, and things being particularly unpleasant,...

Here at Comic Impact we like to show what the staff is reading and discuss the newest shipment of comic books by posting the Comic Impact Pull List! This time Andy has the POW ( Pick of the week) and it looks like it’s going to be a busy week for him.
Will he give the honors to his DC favorite Tim Drake in Red Robin #1? or maybe it’ll be Uncanny X-Men #511 if his Phoenix hypothesis turns out to be true … or maybe something totally different. We don’t know because it’s only Monday and comics haven’t...

So did you read Andy’s Wacky Comic Wednesday article about Marvel’s and the NFL’s comic book adventure, SuperPro? Well today over lunch we were talking about some other bad ideas in the 1990’s, and I thought of this one: a T.V. show where Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, and Wayne Gretzky work as a team to fight crime. The show was called Pro Stars.
That’s right it was like Scooby-Doo but with professional sports stars. I know it was nuts, but the truly sad part is I used to watch it back in the day.

Now while I’m aware this isn’t a news post or anything exactly ground breaking, it is a little reflection and story I wanted to share with you all. Geeks, freaks, or nerds. Call comic book fans what you want but this little story is a nod towards a world we are all totally engrossed in.
As you have seen, Comic Impact has had a re-design. As part of this our leader requested that we all have some relativity pro photos taken of us, basically photos of us showing us as we are. I’ve done some modeling in my time...

What is rapidly becoming my favorite toy line of all time, the DCU Classics collection, has a glaring weakness. They have yet to get Superman right and they’ve had four tries. This time they gave him a mullet. Really, Mattel and DC? That’s how you want your flagship character to be seen? You guys want to depict him with the worst haircut in the history of western civilization? Good call.
Package Description:
When the menace known as Doomsday came to Earth, it fell to Superman to battle him to a standstill…and the death!...

Perennial movie tough guy Michael Madsen provides the voice of Kilowog, the enforcer with a heart, in Green Lantern: First Flight, the next DC Universe original animated PG-13 movie.
Madsen has been cast as the heavy guy throughout his busy career, gaining widespread acclaim as Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. His lengthy list of credits include roles in films like The Natural, Thelma & Louise, both volumes of Kill Bill, Wyatt Earp, Free Willy, Die Another Day, and Donnie Brasco. He drew rave reviews...

I was just reading Amazing Spider-Man #596 and there was an add for the Nick Fury action figure I’ve been harping on here at Comic Impact. Apparently Marvel has pulled back a bit on the requirements to get this figure as you only need to pay for a 3 month subscription to Marvel Digital Comics instead of a full year.
It is still a lot of money for what was going to be a free figure, but it looks like Marvel has updated their site with the optional 3 month subscription option after I posted my previous two blogs on the...

So the other day we had a talk about the Nick Fury 3 3/4″ Marvel Universe figure by Hasbro that you can get for free. Here is the official low down on how you can get your hands on this figure:
First you have to purchase a subscription to Marvel Digital Comics Unlimited™ and then you have to pay $4.99 for shipping and handling ($6.99 Canadian).
Now fans, will you buy this Nick Fury action figure for around $65.00? because after adding the subscription fee and the shipping and handling fee, that is what Marvel is...

What you gonna to do when they come for you? Ask Bad Boy because it’s Trade Tuesday and I’m bringing you a super creator team up! The comic legend Frank Miller teams up with Brit super artist Simon Bisley to bring what I’d like to say was a forgotten gem of story lost in the mists of time. I’d like to say that but I can’t, so I’ll give you Bad Boy, an interesting blip of story lost in the mists of time. Originally published as a serial in the British GQ magazine it must have seemed like a great idea at the time. Bring...

Hey Comic Impacters,
Man we really need to come up with a better name for you fine folks for the web site… Anyway, it’s finally here!!! Our first big leap into the unknown: a redesign of your favorite comic book web site (and mine), Comic Impact- or Comic Impact 2.0! I mentioned earlier that we have some big plans, and this redesign is really only the very tip of a massive ice burg waiting to sink the Titanic that is your love for comics….ok maybe not the best analogy but you get the idea.
We really hope you...

Yes, if you are a gamer than chances are you know that E3 is taking place in L.A. right now. Due to this I have decided to make the theme of this Manga Monday about gaming.
Now as you are probably aware (you do read my posts, right?) I went to London MCM Expo last weekend and I actually did buy some manga. Yes, I know its hard to believe but I didn’t actually spend all of my money on cocktails in China Town. The manga I bought caught my eye instantly because it is actually the manga version of my favourite video game! Now...

As we head to the end of David Tennant’s stint as the 10th Doctor, all eyes are on Matt Smith stepping up as the 11th Doctor, and his new assistant… Karen Gillan.
The relatively unknown 21 year old Scottish actress previously appeared in the Doctor Who story Fires of Pompei as the fortune telling daughter.
This will be her highest profile role to date. In an interview with the BBC new chief of DW, Steven Moffat, he described her as “”funny, and clever, and gorgeous, and sexy… or Scottish, which is...

Well kids if you are doing the math and keeping score then you know that June 1st is the six month mark since we started Comic Impact! It’s fitting too because while myself (Sheldon), Simon, and Andy are all local to L.A., we managed to get Butmac out to the West Coast for this monumental day to take part in some photos, a few beers, and comics!
Here are a couple pictures of Andy guzzling his second Bloody Mary with myself smiling gorgeously in the background, and Butmac giving the gun to his friend -D-. We had a brief...
