Let’s consider for a moment the most reviled of all forms of comedy: toilet humor. It’s something we’re all familiar with from an early age. Any child on a school playground is delighted to amuse his pals with a good pee or poop joke, or maybe simply by letting a loud one rip right in the middle of a school assembly. Let’s face it: the human body and its more odorous functions is prime comedy ground. This applies not just to children, but also for those whose sense of humor refuses to grow up (i.e....

It’s Friday and that means time for a new edition of Figure Friday! This week we take a look at The Thing in the Marvel Universe 3.75-inch action figure series. I love The Thing as he is my favorite member of the Fantastic Four… but does this figure do him justice?

There was a time when Ben Grimm was consumed with anger over the hideous change wrought on his body by overexposure to cosmic rays. Over the years, he has come to accept his new look, and revel in the strength and invulnerability that...

It seems that people who have started to find the 4th Wave of this line ( I am going to the store later to look for them) found details on how one can get the new Marvel Universe Nick Fury figure!
Apparently, all you have to do is sign-up for Marvel Comics’ digital comic book service. The cost is $24.99 ($8.33/month) for a 3-Month service, or $59.88 ($4.99/month) for an...

My favorite comedy team of all time is Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz,), and the duo are joining director Greg Mottola (Superbad) on a film about two British comic book geeks who travel to America for the San Diego Comic Con fan convention. Seth Rogen has also joined the cast along with Jason Bateman, Jane Lynch, Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader.
Rogen will voice the titular character, Paul, an alien who escapes from Area 51 and accompanies the geeks on their trip across America.

What if instead of landing in Smallville, Kansas, Krypton had exploded 12 hours later and Superman ended up in Russia? That is essentially the entire premise of Superman: Red Son. Yes, instead of the classic ‘S’ on his chest, we are treated to a Superman donning the very communist hammer and sickle instead. I think it looks much better, but I also say better dead than red, so what do I know? Instead of Martha and Jonathan Kent raising the man of steel with American virtues, Superman is brought up by the late, great...

I hope the guys over at DC and WB are looking at this long and hard ’cause if this doesn’t get Nathan the job, I’m not sure what else would!!! Until we hear something directly from DC I guess we can just have this on a permanent loop. On a side note, I think having Hugh Laurie as Sinestro would be pretty bad ass as well!!

Faust issue #3
“Not For Children” is the phrase that adorns the cover of several issues of the notorious adults-only comic book “Faust: Love of the Damned,” and I can safely state that a more appropriate warning has never been put on a cover before or since. The hyper-violent reality that the characters of “Faust” live in scales heights of bloodlust and depravity that I can only assume is completely unheard of and unseen by the majority of comic readers. The extreme sex and violence in this book are not mutually...

I remember reading the graphic novel sometime back in 2006. I told myself this would make for a fun film one day and that day has come. The story is an ex cop (Bruce Willis) is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of surrogates (robotic body doubles of people). Looks like DC is at it again with another great direct-to-DVD cartoon! This one is an adaptation of the story of President Lex Luthor framing Supes, and thus putting him on the run. It is written by Stan Berkowitz who adapted Darwyn Cooke’s New Frontier (also for DC). The Green Lantern DVD isn’t even out yet and I am already psyched for this one!! One of the amazing things about how the mind works while reading comics is that we are essentially experiencing what is called a jump-cut between every panel, yet we still have a completely fluid storytelling experience. Our brain automatically fills in that blank space between panels. This is very similar to watching a movie where every edit goes from one image to another in a fraction of a second. It should be jarring, but somehow it isn’t. The difference between comics and movies in this regard is that reading is a much...
