actioncomicscoverno1You got $400,000 ? I know I sure don’t but if your a fan of Superman then you may want to take that MasterCard and starting biding on an “unrestored” copy of Action Comics No. 1 over at comicconnect.com this Friday.

One Superman fan try trade his Ferrari for the comic book as Stephen Fishler (Owner of Comic Connect) joked around also told the press  “I couldn’t see myself trading in my Toyota Prius” even for a $375,000 car.

There are only 100 existing copies, 80 percent have been restored, but people want an untouched copy  Fishler said. It is a six on the 10-point rating scale.

The comic book first appeared on newsstands for 10 cents in June 1938.Superman was co-created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster. Make sure to check out are special podcast on ZAP! POW! BAM! The Superhero: The Golden Age of Comic Books 1938–1950  Exhibition going on here in Los Angeles at the Skirball Cultural Center for more on the this subject.

Fishler who predicted the comic book will sell for about $400,000. “I’ve known Action Comics to sell for around $750,000,” comic book sales associate Bill Peterson said.

The comic book marked the first appearances of Lois Lane and of course Superman.

Would you drop several thousand for a classic comic ?  I know I am looking for an Uncanny X-Men # 101,Tales of Suspense # 39 and Detective Comics # 27   but I would never buy one for that kind of money . I think that is nuts what do you do with it to you keep it in your house or put it in the bank ?
