Neil Gaiman’s “Graveyard Book” To Be Adapted to Film
A few days late posting on this, but news that’s still fit to print. Neil Gaiman announced on The Today Show that there will be a film adaptation of his children’s book, The Graveyard Book, and will be written and directed by Neil Jordan, the mastermind behind The Crying Game and Interview with a Vampire. I’ve never read the Newbury Medal-winning story, but I’m betting that all book stores and comic shops will need to add a few hundred extra of these to their weekly distro list. Keep your eyes peeled for action figures, posters, T-shirts and all other unnecessary book paraphernalia in the near future, too.
Gaiman also told the LA Times that he sees a Sandman movie on the horizon: “…a Sandman movie is an inevitability, sooner or later.”
Boy, I can’t WAIT for the drama that’s going to attach itself to this one. All those die-hard Sandman fans are going to flip when they see what the big screen does to their favorite yarn. It’s hard to live up those fanboy expectations - I’m still waiting to see what happens after the Watchmen film premiers.

It’s funny I actually heard something this morning on NPR about this book and they interviewed him. He basically said it took him 13 to 14 years to write this book to find the right kind of story and his daughter is the one that made him finish it because she wanted to know how it ends!
